Story
All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fee is $400-$800. if a biography does not otherwise say then it is $400. We will also post at the end of the evening the names of those dogs who have been adopted: www.facebook.com/DPSRescueAdoption events are currently cancelled until April. We are however doing adoptions by appointment only. If you are interested in a dog, please fill out an application as this is the only way we can consider your home at this time.  Cody is a 3 year old Shih Tzu-Pug mix who came to us from the shelter. He is overall a mellow boy who gets burst of energy when it’s time to go for an adventure. Once he’s comfortable he is a spunky happy go lucky dog. He loves to go for walks, they are one of his favorite things to do.  Cody has met multiple dogs since entering the rescue. He has started to enjoy playing with his canine friends and he's gained confidence with them. He is an excellent option to join a home that has another dog. If the dog is playful, Yay! If the dog isn't, that's ok with him too. He just likes the company. He gets overwhelmed in dog park settings, so he's more of a homebody type. He could be an option for a retired couple that is dog savvy and/or has a dog of their own. Cody loves loves loves toys. He has a 'play session' every morning. His favorite toy is the plushy moose toy. But he does not discriminate. He likes all toys. So get the toy box ready for our boy. If you are looking for an affectionate dog who doesn't need to be on your lap but likes to be close and receiving affection, that's our boy. He has not proven to be a barker. He would be an option for those who live in an apartment. The only time his foster mom has heard him bark was when he saw his reflection. He will bark if he's allowed to sit in the window and watch people coming and going out of the house. But otherwise he's not a barker. Cody is a dog for a home that doesn't have a steady stream of people coming and going from the house. He'd rather be in his crate if folks are coming over. Cody is only an option for those who have had a dog of their own before and are dog savvy. If there are children in the home they need to be over the age of 8.

Story
NOTE: This is a courtesy posting for another rescuer. Please do not contact ARRF, as we do not know this pet personally. To meet this pet, see the contact information below. Jake is an adorable 10-year-old, 16-pound, Shih Tzu/Havanese mix. His owner passed away. Our rescue can tell Jake has received very good care. He is a mellow guy. He is housetrained, and he knows the command to sit. He seems to get along with all other dogs and probably would be fine with cats although we don't know for sure. Jake has been diagnosed with early-stage pancreatitis and must be on a low-fat diet for life with regular vet visits to monitor his condition. Jake recently had one eye removed but is doing fine without it. He has no other health issues. He is fearful of small children and reactive toward them, so he needs an adults-only or adults/teens-only home. He can be very vocal when he wants something and will bark to get attention. He is good on a leash and loves long walks. He does not like being crated or penned and will bark if confined. He is very loving and ready to be an integral part of his new family. We suggest a home with adults only or adults/teens only for Jake. This dog cannot be adopted out of state. Please see our home page for a list of our Saturday adoption sites. Every potential adopter is required to fill out an adoption application and the dog is placed in the home that would be most suitable for the dog. We do not place our dogs in homes with unfenced swimming pools. Generally, we don't release the dogs at the adoption site that day except on occasion to former adopters. If you are interested in adopting this dog, please email FCIAadoptions@aol.com or call 619-466-9137.

Story
Hello People, My name is Little Lulu and Mom says I’m a very sweet and delightful bichon girl of about nine. She says I am nine pounds of love and adorableness- a little girl with a darling face and even more beauty inside! When I came to Mom’s house, it wasn’t long before she fell in love. I taught her how snuggle and cuddle. (That’s what I do best!) Then I taught her how to sleep on the back of the couch and to come when called (Oh silly me – that’s what I do!) Mom taught me to appreciate the value of a good belly rub –and that’s a very good thing! I have a doggy foster sister to lay with – and while I enjoy her company my primary focus is on Mom. She says that I’m always happy and a bright spot in her life. While I can be a bit shy when I first get to know you I quickly warm up and haven’t found anyone I don’t like – except the yardman. (Sorry but I just don’t like all the noise he makes!) Mom says I am really cute, sweet as sugar and as ‘big as a minute’. Then she says I’m a little cuddle bunny. Silly Mom! I’m not a bunny at all: I’m a furkid! I’m eager to please, smart and easy to live with – and there’s always a smile on my face. Mom says I’m adorable, cute and a very special little girl! Besides being special in all the ways I’ve been described, I’m also special in one other way. I have these special teeny tiny pills that I have to take every day so that I won’t have this thing called a seizure. Now I haven’t had one in quite a while since I now have my pills – and we hope I will not have any again. (That’s why I’m so glad I have my medicine.) If you didn’t know I had ever had one you certainly couldn’t tell – I’m just as cuddly and happy as a little girl can be. My Ideal Home: *Someone home most of the time *Adults only *Another small furkid is fine but not required Experience level: *Have had dogs as an adult *Recent/current dog experience a plus *Experience with medical issues a plus! Mom knows that there is a special family looking for a sweet and loving little girl like me and who will be able to be with me most of the time. If that sounds like you, please ask for Lulu– and I will be waiting. Tail wags and bichon kisses, Lovely and Loveable Lulu
