Story
** Duke and I are currently in foster care** Hi, I'm Salem! **I am bonded with my friend Duke and we would like to be adopted out together for $250 for the both of us**Do you like other dogs? I would like to be the only dog in the home along with Duke. What do you think about cats? I have no history, but I may do okay with cats with slow and careful introductions. So how do you feel about kids? I need an adult only home, I am very sensitive to handling. What's your energy level like? I have a medium energy level. What is it that staff and volunteers love about you? I can be nervous at first, but once I warm up I am very sweet!** Here is what a volunteer said about me and my friend, Duke:"They are sweet dogs. A little nervous at first, but once they know you, very easy to walk. Will definitely follow you anywhere once trained." **Is there anything else we should know about you? I am 6 years old and I weigh 8-11 pounds.I do have a medical waiver that the staff will discuss with you.I came into the shelter as a surrender and the above information is all recommendations based on my previous history and the behavior seen at the shelter. Expect to learn more about me after adoption. It is unknown how this animal will do in their new home as all animals can be different with each person. It is important to take this into consideration when thinking about adopting and making sure you are prepared to work with any potential medical or behavior issues that occur after adoption. My adoption fee includes my spay/neuter, current vaccinations, permanent microchip identification, certificate for a free veterinary exam, post-adoption support and more!Thank you for taking the time to learn a little about me! If you think we would be a good match come on down and ask to meet me! I'm looking for my forever home and it could be with you!ADOPTION INFORMATION: If you live in the city of Eugene or in Lane County you will be purchasing a dog license in addition to the adoption fee. You will get to choose between a one year, two year, or three year license. This pet is located at Greenhill Humane Society. 88530 Greenhill Road Eugene, OR 97402 (541) 689-1503. Story
We adopted Parker from Safe Haven when he was two months old. He was born in Feb 2011. Parker listens well unless there is food around. He is food obsessed (not uncommon for dachshund breeds). He would probably do well in an environment where he could be spoiled. Currently I have a three year old and Parker often steals food out of his hand (he does not ever bite in the process). He is a chewer: diapers, trash, pacifiers, kids toys. Because of the food and chewing obsessions he will likely do best in a home with older kids or no kids. He does well on a leash. He barks a lot and occasionally bays. He barks at other dogs, people, cats, etc. but is never aggressive and is usually submissive if actually confronted with a meeting. He is fully potty trained, although when he gets super excited or scared (usually around new people) he sometimes pees a little. I regret that we need to rehome him, but we are moving into a smaller place and he needs a home that is not ruled by a toddler.
