Story
Aaron means survivor. He came to DRC very thin, with filthy ears on the front. In the back we found savage infections for fleas. Now on the mend, Aaron is living in a pack of dogs in his foster in Houston. He likes boys and girls and is having a grand time. He has been with children from 1 year to 8 and he was wonderful with them. If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Under Adoptions, please read our adoption policy.  We must have an application before we can begin the adoption process and each dog does have foster contact listed.

Story
Bristol Babe is in northeastern IN, waiting for that super duper home that she knows she deserves! Well, when you are as nice a dog as Bristol then you do deserve the best. Bristol is a bundle of curiosity and affection and she is an adorable 40# Dalmatian Wannabe. Bristol loves it when her belly is rubbed, laying quietly with her legs straight in the air. How cute!! She is generally fine with the foster dogs, but she does prefer the boy dogs. Probably best with only male dogs, altho she can be okay with quiet female dogs. On walks she does love to meet new dogs coming along. The neighborhood girls (8-11 yrs) are her favorite young people and they love her too. Her fun time is going to the woods to run. She does have a naturally high prey drive when it comes to wildlife critters but with cats she is unknown. Bristol walks well on the leash and our queen prefers fluffy beds but all she really wants is to be with "mom". Bristol is a very smart girl with PERFECT house manners. She is not a dog toy fanatic and she does not chew what she shouldn't, but she does love tennis balls and will fetch them! Our girl is vocal about things outside, as nothing gets by her guarding instinct. One hind leg seems to have been broken once and maybe healed improperly so does cause her some discomfort but does not slow her down!, We are getting her leg evaluated. Bristol sits for meals or whatever she might want. Good girl! For more information, contact Chris at dalpal@rocketmail.com. Story
Riley came from south TX like so many dogs we help. He was reported to be chasing cattle, but remove cattle (or confine him) and neuter him then he is a lovely dog. Riley now gets along well with both male and female foster dogs in his northern MO foster home. He would probably do best in a home with no cats or small animals, however. Riley has done well with a 6 yr grandchild but any younger, Riley's size and exuberance might be too much. Typical for Dalmatians, he follows his mom from room to room and he is joined with her at the hip! He needs improved leash skills as many Dalmatians do! Riley would probably do well in an experienced dog home that can be consistent with the rules. We have learned that thunder scares him so means to help this issue are needed. We can suggest several. Riley will make a lovely companion in the right home where he is not allowed to run the show. For more information, contact Jon at js86bacon@gmail.com. Story
Pyro is a handsome young, striking Dalmatian Wannabe.  He landed in a big city shelter when found as an unclaimed stray. While in the shelter, poor Pyro was terrified and just knew that the staff would hurt him. He only relaxed once he got back out into the real world.  He is a strong boy, apparently not having learned manners prior, but he is learning basic obedience and manners. While he is strong on the leash, there are many items to use that can help him be walked better.   He has not met cats yet. Pyro does get along with other dogs but is too young and energetic for children, small adults, or seniors.  Pyro LOVES attention but is not food or toy motivated.  Maybe we have not offered him just the right treat tho? Naturally, he is not food aggressive and he is not aggressive in any form.  Being confined in a crate (kennel) is not his cup of tea, having escaped his crate several times.  However, he is just fine inside the home uncrated, doing no damage other than shredding one magazine the first day. Strangers might scare Pyro at first but once relaxed he is in love with everyone.  He has met young children under 5 yrs and was just fine with them and he is just a good, good dog that needs some learnin'. Pyro is currently in Las Vegas NV. For more information, contact Andy at firemans@embarqmail.com. Story
Sometimes we stretch the definition of Dalmatian when we accept dogs into our rescue. Skittles is one of these cases. We’re calling him a hound mix with “a hint of Dalmatian”. This two-year-old boy was saved from the shelter’s euthanasia list with only minutes to spare! But he was so friendly and look, he has a couple of Dalmatian type spots on one ear! Skittles is deaf but this happy boy doesn’t let that hold him back. He will need a safe, fenced-in play area and lots of on-leash exercise. His new owner will be encouraged to train him with hand signals and preference will be given to adopters familiar with deaf dogs. Skittles gets along well with other dogs. This happy, energetic young boy is guilty of jumping up and will need gentle training to stop this behavior. But Skittles is crate trained, and does know “sit“. and he’s very willing to learn more! His exuberance and need for training makes us feel Skittles should be placed in a home without young children. Adults, possibly with teenagers, would be preferred. More than anything, Skittles loves cuddles and belly rubs. He came to us heartworm positive but is responding well to treatment which should be completed soon. To learn more about Skittles, contact Tena at tjp@mygrande.net. His adoption fee is $250.  If interested in this dog, please go to www.dalmatianrescueco.org and submit an application for adoption. Under Adoptions, please read our adoption policy.  We must have an application before we can begin the adoption process and each dog does have foster contact listed.

Story
Meet Princess Jazzy, a beauty in her own right and in her own mind...and everyone that meets her! This pretty lady loves being an inside pet and going places. It's especially endearing when she does her vertical jumping from a standstill to see her food being prepared on the counter. Jazzy has attended outdoor festivals and has gone into dog friendly restaurants. She is good with other dogs and is crate and house trained. Her only real "problem" is that she can be insistent on receiving affection from her human, and jumping up. Dog lovers don't find that a problem tho! Currently in a foster home in Grand Junction, on the Western Slope of CO. Jazzy is most happy when she is the only dog, and although she is fine with other dogs, she would be happy with no competition for your attention in the home. She wants just you! Check out Jazzy's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9YbPDeSiNCs&feature=share. For more information, contact Miquette at miquette.gerber@gmai.com.
