Story
HELLO!!!! OMG YOU'RE LOOKING AT ME? AT ME??? YAY! That's the most exciting thing ever! (Leo, calm, calm dude! They are looking at you - let's start telling them about you!) Okay - I'm an 8 years young and 12 lb miniature pinscher pup looking for a loving, patient, active furever family! I host all the traits of a min-pin, in that I will identify you pretty quickly as my guardian and be protective of you, always by your side. If something is out of the ordinary or my comfort zone, I'm pretty vocal about that - but that's good, right? I love to cuddle and snuggle my person (or persons), and if given the chance, I'd do it ALL DAY LONG. So if you're a Sunday Football kind of guy, I'm your guy! I have had positive experiences with other dogs in doggy daycare, including overnight and dogs of all sizes. I do well with an enclosed off leash dog park / daycare, but would likely run if given off leash unsecured privileges. While I'm on a leash, I am great! I love to meet new dogs and people. I don't necessarily play with toys, but give me a granola bar box or milk carton or toilet paper roll and I'm all for it! Especially if you stuff them with treats for me to work out. Okay okay I'll be honest - I can be a bit protective of my toys and treats if I'm super into them, so I may be likely to nip/bite - but I'm sure I can be trained of this too. I'm told I'm super intelligent (aren't all dogs?) so stimuli will be a great thing for me. Okay, so the not so good stuff. I mentioned I LOVE my people. Sometimes that's to a fault, where I do struggle with some separation anxiety and I really am sorry for that. I don't like being kenneled, and will bark a LOT and even destroy the crate, and hurt myself in the process. I sorry. I don't mean to. I just miss you a ton. I bet though, since I'm of above-super-doggy-intelligence, that I can be taught with force free trainers! My adoption fees are $300. I have been seen by a vet and told I'm the cutest thing ever - as well as tricked into a dental (although, I admit my teeth are shiny and lovely now), vaccines updated, and microchipped. I have also had some visits to a doggy daycare, and am working on socializing. If you're interested in further helping me, I'd love for you to fill out an application. If you have already done so, as well as have had the interview, please email calicanrescue@gmail.com. Story
Hi! My name is Gizmo - I am a 2 year old and 9lb chihuahua terrier mix boy looking for my best fit family! Are you them??? I am a fun, curious, and high energy little dog! I love to see what everyone is doing, what's behind that door, where all the toys are, and how I can get them all to my little wee bed. I love to chew, which has sometimes resulted in me eating what I'm not supposed to. (CaliCan says this just means you have to watch me closely while I chew - awww). Once my playtime is done, then it's time for CUDDLES. OMG those are the best! Especiallallilly if you have a nose I can kiss / nip. I do take a bit to warm up, so just wait until I have done so before you try to pick me up for cuddles. But once that happens, man alive are the cuddles the best. I have not met kids or cats. Given I have nippy tendencies, kids are probably not the best. But given my curious nature, I'd say cats are probably okay as I'm most likely to just sniff and lick them, maybe try to play with them. Dunno! We'll see! I'm in a foster home with a medium energy little dog and a low energy big dog, and I do well with both. I prefer the one that will play with me, and would love a furever home with another playful pup! I sometimes need manner taught, and the best way to learn is from other dogs, so that would be also beneficial. I do NOT like the crate. Nope nope. I will tolerate being crated during the day, where I will cry once I'm in there, and then when I hear you come home. But if I know you're home, I'd rather be with you. Your bed is the most coziest and I'd love to make sure you're well comforted while sleeping. OHHH also manicures are the best! I love it! While my nails get snipped, I get treats. It's the greatest thing ever!! I also need some encouragement getting my eyes wiped, but if you give me treats, I'm good for that. Basically, teach me with treats, and you'll have a Good Boi in no time. My adoption fees are $300. I've been seen by the vet, who says I'm a cutie pie and healthy. I am microchipped, current on shots, and ready for my furever family. If you have already filled out an application and done an interview, simply send an email to calicanrescue@gmail.com and they'll be in touch. Story
Hello there! 👋🏼 My name is Spot and I'm shopping for a new pad. I am 9 years young but I feel like a mature 7 years. So I'm a tad overweight with a very minor heart murmur but that gives me no trouble, some might say I'm a bit of a fixer upper. But hey, i still have all my hair! So anyhoo i just moved into this new foster home and I adjusted pretty quick to the new norm. There's these big dogs here, they wanna play with me, but I snarl just to mess with them haha. Sometimes I sit next to them calmly just to really throw them off. Good times, good times. In all seriousness, is there a spot in your heart & home for me? I'm house trained but not kennel trained (please don't make me sleep in there). I am pretty chill and am happiest being near you. You can take me in the car and I won't bark just consider me more of the strong silent type. Being in this house full of dogs made me think that being around other dogs might not be too bad after all. One more thing, I love to walk! Sometimes i can keep a fairly good pace too. I'd like to highlight the "sometimes" & "fairly" words, you might want yo write that down. I guess I will leave you with some things to consider. I have great big puppy dog eyes, you can teach an old dog new tricks, and I humbly ask you to give this old soul a home. Take care.

Story
Meet Ida! Ida is a sweet 4-year-old who has lots of energy for walks but is a lazybones around the house. Ida is smart girl who is learning more every day! She is house and crate trained and sleeps easily through the night. Ida gets very excited and vocal when she sees squirrels, cats, and other dogs but she's learning to restrain herself. She is eager to please and very motivated by treats so she's a quick study! Ida adores a good butt scratch and if you show her some love she'll be your fast friend.

Are they gonna like me? Oh... I don't think they're gonna like me. Do you think they'll want to adopt me? I really want a home, I love to cuddle and will lay down on top of you if you're lying down. I'll nudge your hand to get you to me, and if you don't mind, I will crawl into your lap and sit with you! When you're not sitting or laying down, can we go for a walk? I love walks and exercise, I'm even learning to play fetch. I love to explore and I'm good with kids, and my recall is improving. And if we're not cuddling or walking, can we eat? I'll do a little dance for my food and treats. I'm a little nervous meeting other dogs and new people, I generally shy away and run back to foster mom. I'm going to daycare and getting more confident around dogs every day, and there's a dog in my foster home and we've become best friends we play chase every chance we get. I really hope that you like me!

Story
Bellah is a sweet rotty mix who is looking for her forever home. She is laid-back, easy-going, loving girl, who enjoys going for walks at the park and car rides. She is bit shy so it takes a little bit for her to warm up to the new people. And although she is fine with dogs and kids, she'd enjoy a home with people that are 15 and older, and where she could be the only dog. If you are looking for your new best friend, come and meet Bellah - a gentle giant who loves having her belly rubbed and back scratched.
