Story
Niko is a handsome, young adult purebred Husky. He is fully-vaccinated, neutered, heart worm negative, and microchipped. He is healthy, loving, and loves to exercise with his person and his dog friends! He enjoys his time with other dogs and people the most. He has done well with medium and large dogs but prefers no cats in the home. Niko is wonderfully potty trained and even uses the doggie door at his foster home. He has a beautiful, lush coat of black and white fur. Note that shaving a husky’s coat is NEVER recommended, but regular baths, brushing, and de-shedding treatments are needed, so they do require grooming maintenance. Niko has experienced being outside his yard on his own so he has a sense of adventure - this is dangerous for him. For this reason, he must have a tall very secure fence (preferably like a wooden privacy fence) with a good-sized yard space. He must primarily be included as part of his adopter’s family, welcomed inside the home and never left outside alone for long periods of time. Huskies become especially lonely without companionship and will do most anything to get over, around or under a fence if they feel bored or neglected. So when you aren’t at home, if he is alone, having a large wire or plastic crate with a comfortable bed or mat available for your husky is recommended. As with any dog, please research the breed before applying. Unless otherwise noted, all pets adopted with our organization are spayed/neutered, fully-vaccinated, and microchipped. They are placed in wonderful foster homes (as available) while searching for their forever families. Please take a moment to submit an adoption application at fighting4fido.org if you would like more information about any of our adoptable pets.

Story
Cookie Dough is a gorgeous and very petite female Border Collie/Fox Terrier mix, 1 1/2 years old and around 20 lbs. She is fully-vaccinated, heart worm negative, and microchipped. She has special needs coming up in her life but she is vibrant and has much love to give. If you love border collies but would rather have a smaller pet, and have a calm lifestyle, Cookie is your girl!!! She has beautiful, medium length, brown and white fur. She will not require haircuts but does shed some. She loves other dogs and people. She enjoys playing with toys and going for walks. She is also a wonderful nap buddy. Background: We received a call from a local NW Arkansas resident the end of 2017. The lady told us of a family of unaltered dogs who needed to be spayed/neutered and most of the dogs were needing to be placed in adoptive homes. We agreed to take a litter of 4 puppies from the situation. Cookie's 3 siblings were all adopted not long after they arrived in our rescue. Cookie is still waiting because a heart murmur revealed itself when we took her to be spayed. Cookie has been evaluated by a wonderful cardiologist at Oklahoma State University Veterinary School and she has a congenital heart defect. As of December 2017, the left ventricle of her heart is enlarged and there is a hole in her heart. She has been diagnosed with irreversible congestive heart failure. Repairing the hole in her heart would be extremely costly, so much so that a major campaign would have to take place and while we love her very much, the surgery would not improve her prognosis much at all. The difficult decision to forego surgery had to be made. She still needs and deserves to be adopted! Cookie cannot be spayed due to the nature of her heart condition. She is on a maintenance medication at this time but is showing no sign of her illness in her daily life. Cookie would enjoy the company of a spayed female canine sibling of similar size. She has not been exposed to cats while in our care.

We adopted Faith in early July 2018 and have enjoyed having her as she has been excellent with us and our boys (5 and 8). Due to our busy schedule we would like to find a good home for her where she will be able to play more with kids or just be a good companion for someone.

She wants to paw your face when you pet her. This is been frustrating for our young child. She isn't mean just needy. She needs to be with someone who can be with her 24-7 and give her lots of attention.

These two are fantastic dogs. They spend all day together outside. Very loving and energetic. We don’t want to have to re-home, but we have to due to a relocation.
