Story
Bonita, born December 7, 2017, is a very pretty 60 pound Black coloured Labrador Retriever mix who is vaccinated, spayed, and micro-chipped. Transferred from another Rescue, this active, intelligent girl loves women and seems to be afraid of most men. She would benefit from some obedience training, and, this would be a great way to bond with your new canine companion. She loves to go for walks, enjoys learning new things, and when tired is content to curl up at your feel with her chew-stick and snooze while you read or watch T.V . Bonita loves to learn and works very hard for bits of chicken and cheese. She would certainly enjoy Rally Obedience and/or Doggie Agility. Bonita would like to have an adult home, without cats, with a fenced yard so that she can play safely while her family is working or relaxing in the out-of-doors . She is good with most other dogs, Bonita is looking for an adult home that has experience with the active, intelligent, curious Labrador dog Breed. Great Pyrenees Maremma Sheepdog

Male, Adult
Carlsbad Springs, ON
Size
(when grown) X-Large 101 lbs (46 kg) or more
Details
Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Whikey is an almost 3 year old Maremma/Great Pyrenees mix who has an amazing personality. He is very goofy at times, but can also be very serious. He has always been around children and other animals and never had a problem. Approximately 6 months ago, however, his current owner’s life took a turn for the worse. Unfortunately, Whikey’s behavior also followed suit. Compounded with a move to a new house and routine, Whikey started to snap at the other animals he had been living with, and also his humans, children and adults alike. Whikey is adjusting to his new circumstances. True to his genetic makeup, as long as he works his brain and body, he shows his amazing respectful side. But once he gets bored is where he starts to get in trouble. The current owner has reached out to several places for help. An assessment showed he has solid obedience skills (sit, stay, heal, watch silently, speak and fetch) and lots of potential. Whikey is a special boy who loves attention and loves to have a job to do. If he is being worked, he is the utmost amazing boy. To that end, farm/country living would be most suitable. He needs a home where there are no other animals or children. When he is fed he needs to be fed in a location where he is alone where there is no one around him. He has also been trained on a vibrate collar and a prong collar. He will tell you when there are guests and you just have to say thank you and he will then go on with his business. He loves to run, play, and get lots of affection. He believes he is a lap dog so will sit on your lap. He loves to be brushed and also Vacuumed. He is neutered. He does have some minor allergies to food, although to what exactly has not yet been determined. This is a courtesy listing. For more information on Whikey, please contact Samantha Gilby at 613-796-4379 or gizmospal_3@hotmail.com

Story
Temperament - Once Blue gets to know you, he will lay with his head in your lap forever for belly rubs. He loves butt scratches, and seems to prefer not to have his face too close to yours for too long, but will give short kisses, again once you’ve formed a bond with him. Too vigorous petting with excitement will get his purr/growl going, but nothing more. - Through the fence, he will react back at a dog that’s barking aggressively, but will wag his tail and sniff noses with well behaved dogs. - Blue walks well on leash, but he’s strong, and can catch you off guard and give a good pull if he gets interested in something out of his reach. - Plays kick ball with people, growls during play. He’s slightly possessive of his toys and food bowl, so waiting for him to move away from his ball (favorite toy) is especially important. He gives a look when you’re too close to those things in a smaller area. - Doesn’t love nail trims, but tolerates it from a trusted person with a muzzle on, and are quick about it. - Blue knows some commands, such as sit, shake a paw. Owner Suitability - Blue will need an experienced handler of Rottweilers or of similar large breeds, and would do well with older children that are also experienced. - Although good on leash, (with the exception of pulling when he sees something), he likes to explore. To that end, having a place that is fenced in for him to be off leash would be important. - He seems to prefer men, but does like the women he’s bonded to. - Blue is best suited to a home with no other animals so he can have all the attention, but he has lived in a home for a small amount of time with a small dog and a cat. Please note: we have not yet tested this for ourselves). - His energy level isn’t very high, but playing with another dog is possible with the right introduction…. without toys or food around, he likes to play chase, but doesn’t last long. Blue loves walks. He is not really suited for the dog park. - Blue would need to have a family conscientious of his weight and make sure his love for the couch doesn’t get in the way of his need for daily exercise. - Unsure of particular seasonal allergies, how ever it has been noted that he has had chapped lips in the past, so being aware of things to look for will be important going forward.

Angel

Greyhound Siberian Husky

Female, 10 yrs 3 mos
Carlsbad Springs, ON
Size
(when grown) Med. 26-60 lbs (12-27 kg)
Details
Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered, Shots are up-to-date,
Story
Health Issues - None Temperament - Angel is an athletic and intelligent girl. - She enjoys opportunities to hang out with her people, go for long leashed walks and play games. - Walks nicely on leash, does not jump up on her handlers and greets people politely. - Very well behaved indoors and loves to snuggle on the couch, but the outside world can sometimes be a little bit much for her. She does not always know how to cope with loud or stressful situations, and may channel her stress by spinning, barking or chasing things. - At times, she focuses intently on certain stimulus (mosquitoes, small prey, etc.) and can become overstimulated. As a result of her intense concentration, she may become startled by someone’s approach or interruption. Verbal cues to redirect her attention have worked reliably but need to remain positive and be consistent. - May exhibit some reactivity to other dogs while on-leash or behind a fence, especially if she is in close proximity to the other dog. If she is given ample space, she normally does not react. - Bonds strongly with her people and rewards their efforts with love, loyalty and trust. Owner Suitability - Energy level is moderate and would benefit from a family that can consistently commit to an exercise and training regimen. - She would be a good fit for a home with one or more adults. She could possibly do well in a home with dog-savvy kids around 12 years or older. - Needs boundaries and ample outlets for her energy and smarts. - Does exhibit prey drive. Needs to live in a home without cats or small children. - A fenced yard is a must. Given her natural curiosity and drive, she would need a secure space to be off-leash at home. - Angel often tries to cope with stress by spinning around in tight circles. Some counter-conditioning work has been done to try and interrupt this behaviour, which she is responding to positively. For her benefit, her new family would need to learn to recognize this escalating behaviour and try to minimize it as much as possible. - Angel is not a dog-park dog and is not well-suited to large social gatherings. She is a very sweet and bright girl that would excel in a quiet, routine environment where leashed walks happen daily, and she has opportunities to explore and play interactive games in the comfort of her home.

Size
(when grown) Large 61-100 lbs (28-45 kg)

Not good with kids, Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained,
Story
Yeti is a beautiful 3 year-old male Husky with black and white colouring, curly tail, and blue eyes. He is not up to date with all of his shots, just Rabies. He also remains intact. He is a good listener when on leash (though does pulls hard when he smells something interesting) and is relaxed in the house. He is not a barker and is trained to use a bell to ask to be let out. He loves rubs and has a lovely personality. He’ll even perform basic commands in exchange for treats. However, Yeti would be better suited in a home with no kids, cats or farm animals. Like most Husky’s, Yeti has a strong prey drive and is an escape artist. He needs a secure fenced-in yard. This is a courtesy listing.
