Story
Nevaeh is a beautiful adult Hound/Collie mix who arrived at the HSOV on May 16, 2019 after she was found Tick Ridge Road in the Vincent Ohio area by a caring family who feared she would be hit in traffic. They tried in vain to locate her owner before bringing her to the safety of our shelter. Unfortunately she was not wearing a collar so there was neither an id tag nor a dog tag .. And she was not microchipped. Nevaeh has a light brown coat with white markings on her chest and paws, a long tail, and an adorable face with hopeful brown eyes, a dusting of white on her muzzle, and large floppy ears. She has a very sweet disposition and a gentle, easygoing personality. Nevaeh weighs 73 lbs. In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Nevaeh will be held for three days so that her family will have an opportunity to come and take her home. She will be available for adoption on May 19, 2019 if she is not reclaimed before that date.

Story
Duke is a magnificent 7-month old male German Shepherd/Coonhound mix who was surrendered by his owner on January 19, 2019. Duke has a black-and-tan short smooth coat, rather long legs, a long tail, and a handsome face with a tan mask and large floppy ears. Duke is merely an overgrown puppy who loves the whole world and everyone/everything in it :) He has a happy, outgoing personality. His previous owner told us that Duke had lived with children aged 1 through 7-years old and did well with them. He is also good with cats and other dogs. Duke has been kept indoors and is both crate-trained and housebroken. Duke is frightened of thunderstorms. He is still very much a puppy in spite of his size, so he does what puppies normally do (chew and dig). Duke's favorite toys are hard rubber toys. Duke weighs 62.4 lbs and will likely be a big boy when he reaches maturity. Duke has been heartworm tested (negative) and will be neutered before being adopted by his new family. UPDATE: Duke was neutered on April 9, 2019 and was also given rabies vaccine.

Story
Sunny is a cute 2-1/2 year old male Labrador Retriever mix (with possible Beagle/Hound genes) who was surrendered by his family on June 18, 2019. Sunny has a tan short smooth coat, a long tail, and an adorable face with expressive brown eyes, a black button nose, and short floppy ears. Sunny has a friendly, rather cautious, personality and is described by his owner as being a nervous little dog. His family told us that Sunny had shared his home with children ages 4 to 9 and advised that he should placed in a home with older children since he tends to snap when startled/frightened/surprised by young children. Sunny had also shared his home with other dogs/cats but reportedly did not do well with them while he was there. That being said, Sunny has behaved quite differently after being in our shelter for the past several months and spending time with our kennel techs and volunteers. Sunny has participated in several adoption/social outing events and has been very well behaved with other dogs around. He has been introduced to selected dogs in our play yards and does well in supervised 'play dates' with them. We recommend a 'meet-and-greet' if you already have a dog so that you (and our shelter staff) may view first-hand the 'vibes' and interaction when they are introduced to each other and to determine if they are compatible. Sunny spent his days indoors (unconfined) and outside in his fenced-in yard. He is crate-trained and stayed in his crate during the night. Sunny is housebroken and knows the 'stay' and 'down' commands. Sunny is afraid of loud noises, vacuums, and thunder/lightning, and he whines/cowers to show his fear. Sunny still exhibits some puppy-like behavior (i.e., chewing). Sunny weighs 37.2 lbs and has already been neutered. He has tested negative for heartworm.

Story
Randy is a cute 10-week old male Beagle puppy who arrived at the HSOV on November 7, 2019 along with his mother (Parker) and his two brothers (Grover and Ralphie). Randy has a tricolor short smooth coat, a long tail, and an adorable Beagle face with a brown mask, magnificent brown velvet ears, and freckles on his white muzzle. Randy and his brother Grover appear to be identical twins at first glance, but you can easily tell them apart by the white markings on their hind quarters . Randy has a large white marking on his left hip and a white spot on his back while Grover has just one small patch of white on his right hip. Randy weighs 10 lbs. He is available as a foster-to-adopt at the present time since he is too young to be neutered (which is a requirement before HSOV adoptions can be finalized).
