Story
A "Tiny Spirit Kitten is a feral or extremely shy kitten that has had no socialization with people in their first few months of life. These kittens will vary in terms of becoming social in their new homes; some may become very sweet and outgoing, while others may only ever trust you and no one else. They will all take patience, dedication and hard work to help them adjust into home life. Confinement to a single small room with a litter box, food, and water is a must. They do well in a home with other animals and, depending on the kitten, may even do well with children. They will go home with specific instructions that will need to be followed in order for everyone to have a successful transition. Want to see what the process would look like if you take one of these kitties home? Check out the Kitten Lady's video by clicking on the video link, up with the photos above! If you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of three ways: Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt. **the below two methods are slower than visiting us** Call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us (springfield@dakinhumane.org) for more information about a pet. We are often on the line with another client, but we return voice mail and emails within 24 hours. Check out the video (above, with the pictures) for top tips on how to bring a kitten like this home with you and integrate them into your home! All kitten adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccination (if over 12 weeks of age) -current on distemper vaccines (will need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.

Story
Meet Mario! He may not have the energy of a video game character (since he's 13 years old) but he'll still find a way to win your heart. Whether it's his soft grey fur or his gentle old-man meow, he'll warm you up in an instant. His caretakers after his owner suddenly passed describe him as affectionate and adventurous. He will sniff and inspect anything and anyone. He'll head butt your legs and hands too demanding for pets. It may take some time for him to open up, but we're sure if you have the patience he'll give you all the love you could ever ask for. Story
Meet Fido, the cat with the name of a dog but all the charm of a feline! This stunning senior girl has beautiful long hair and eyes that will mesmerize you. She's as sweet as they come, with a goofy side that will keep you smiling. Fido adores lounging in her favorite spot-a cat tree by the window-where she can bask in the sun and keep an eye on the world outside. Her gentle temperament makes her a joy to be around, and she's ready to bring warmth and laughter to her next home. Could this sweet, fluffy lady be the purrfect companion for you? Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully.
