Story
Charlie is a one-year-old, 8-pound Chihuahua who loves to lay outside in the sun on his dog bed and hang out with the chickens at his foster home. The little guy had a very rough start to life. His owners kept him crated 22 hours a day, and that has made him shy and nervous in public, but at his foster home he’s a happy, spunky, loving little dog. Charlie loves all members of the animal kingdom—small dogs, large dogs, cats, chickens. He just gets along with anyone with four legs. He particularly likes to play games of chase with the other dogs in his foster home. He is so carefree when he is bounding about. If the other dogs are not in the mood to play, he will amuse himself with a toy. He likes to carry a toy with him wherever he goes. When he’s done with play, Charlie is ready to snuggle. He particularly likes to work his way up under your chin and gently lick your neck—bonus! Your neck will always be clean. If you’ve been very, very good, you might get the occasional kiss, or he might present his tummy for rubbing. At night, he loves to sleep in the bed with foster Dogmom and Dogdad. Charlie has his manners down. He is very calm for his age. He is crate-trained, though given his early history, we would prefer that he not be crated. He doesn’t chew and is totally non-destructive. He is house trained. He doesn’t bark much. At night, he loves to sleep in the bed with foster Dogmom and Dogdad. Because of his early history, Charlie is skittish in public and around new people, but he adjusts easily to new people so long as he gets a little warm up period. We don’t recommend Charlie for a household with small children. They make too many sudden movements and don’t understand shy dogs, and they send Charlie running under the couch for cover. Charlie would do great in an apartment or a house, with singles or seniors. He just needs someone to have a little bit of patience with him when they first meet, and he needs someone to love. Our adoption fee is $225 and covers neuter, all shots and microchip. We are doing adoptions during the coronavirus crisis. We will show up with our faces covered with scarves and our hands gloved for everybody’s safety.

Story
Ben is a 3.5 year old, 8 lb Chihuahua mix. He is an adorable little guy, but he is very shy at first. He needs a quiet home where there is not a lot of people coming and going. He is not aggressive at all, but he will bark at strangers. Once he is used to someone, he is their best friend. He loves to cuddle on the couch with foster mom while she is watching TV. He sleeps at the foot of her bed, but he will also sleep in his crate or in a dog bed. Ben gets along with the other small dog in his foster home, but they don't interact a lot. The other dog is a senior, so Ben might interact more with a younger dog. He sometimes chases the cat. The resident cat isn't afraid of anything, so he is not bothered by Ben, but most cats probably would not appreciate being chased. Ben was slow to learn his potty training, but he finally got it! He may have a few accident as he adapts to a new home. Ben is not a playful type of dog, but he does enjoy chewing on a Nylabone. He's just now learning to walk on a leash, and is doing a good job, especially when he wears his harness. He has a good appetite (almost too good). He enjoys a little wet food on top of his kibble, and is always up for a treat. Adopters will need to be patient with Ben while he transitions to their home, but he will be such a sweet and loyal dog for the right adopter.

Story
Lucy is a 3 year old, 11 lb Chihuahua. She has the prettiest black markings on her little petite face. She is a little shy when first meeting someone new, but her foster mom has been patient and given her time to settle in at her own pace. Now, Lucy is a sweet, affectionate lap dog. She LOVES curling up in someone's lap. Lucy gets along fine with the other dogs in her foster home. She is is housebroken with a doggie door. Lucy needs a calm, quiet home where there is not a lot of activity or people coming and going. Lucy will be a loving & loyal companion.
