Story
Hi there, I’m Samantha, owner of Peyton Marie, a 4 year old female Great Pyrenees/Jack Russell Terrier mix. I’m very sad but Peyton unfortunately needs a new home because I no longer have time for her. Peyton does have a few behavioral issues caused by other dogs where we live. Food aggression mostly. Peyton also does not like to visit the vet. Peyton is a good guard dog to ward off any dangers or threats. She loves being outside (which she cannot do here because the neighbor constantly calls animal control for her barking). Peyton is a good dog for the right people/person, she needs the attention she deserves. She does have double dew claws, which she does not like to be touched. Peyton loves snuggling & loves being able to do what she wants.. she could use some firmness. She listens to basic commands such as sit or paw. Not so much with “come” though. She doesn’t like baths.. or water at all. She just needs a better home than I can give her.

WE ARE STILL ACCEPTING ADOPTION APPLICATIONS BUT BECAUSE OF THE VARIOUS REGULATIONS SURROUNDING THE COVID-19 VIRUS, WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE, OUR DOGS ARE IN FOSTER HOMES IN A STATE WITH A STAY AT HOME ORDER. WE ARE ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS BUT WE CAN NOT DO HOME VISIT AT THIS TIME TO COMPLETE THEM. We will contact you at the time this is no longer a restriction. If you are interested in one of our dogs please go to our website and fill out an adoption Information Form. Robyn was one of two females dumped at a farm in VT. We are thinking mother and daughter. She is in heat so we need to wait to spay her. She is healthy otherwise. She is between 3-4 years old and she is the mom.. She loves attention but you need to reach for her slowly or she gets scared. So we feel she should not be with young kids. They move too fast. If interested put in an application. http://www.nepyresq.org/page/adoption-process-guidelines-48.html The application process is to go to our website and fill out an adoption application form. http://www.nepyresq.org/page/adoption-process-47.html. The dogs are in Foster Home across the Northeast. The adoption fee is $400 due to cost of medical needs of our dogs. $450 for Dogs 12 months and under. You will receive a copy of their medical records when you adopt. If you have never had a Pyr Puppy you need to read this : http://www.nepyresq.org/page/i-want-a-great-pyrenees-puppy-50.html. We do not accept INVISIBLE fencing for the following reasons: 1) Most Pyrs ignore the pain and go through it. 2) This is a guardian breed and this fencing does not keep people or other animals out of your yard. The Pyr could take them as a threat or be attacked by them. Most of these dogs are not a dog park breed. They bark a lot and can bother your neighbors.

I'm a sweet gentle senior in need of a Home where I can cuddle with you. I'm good with all animals, people and kids. They say the description "Grand Old Dam" comes to mind. I came into rescue from a farm seizure. I'm in a foster home and get along with the dogs ( all sizes) and cats. I'm good with kids as well. I will join you on the couch if you let me. I'm not food aggressive. I'm spayed and up to date on shots. I turned 11 in September. My coat looks funny because it was so matted they had to shave my body real short. It will grown back. If you would like to adopt me there is a special reduced adoption fee for seniors.

If you are interested in one of our dogs please go to our website and fill out an adoption Information Form. What you don't see is the ones that are in various stages of being surrendered to us. Step ONE is paperwork submitted. We need to know about the dog so we can accurately place it in a foster home and a forever home. Step TWO is to go meet the dog and evaluate it for rehoming. If he wants to eat our volunteer we can not take it in. Step THREE is to contact the vet for their take on the dog and make sure we have all the medical records. We can not take in a dog and bring it across state lines with our a current rabies shot and a negative heartworm test. Step FOUR is to line up a FOSTER home for the dog. Even if the dog is coming in from a shelter we still need to do steps ONE, TWO AND FOUR. Luckily most shelters handle the medical paperwork and are ready to turn the dog over to us. So if you want a Pyr put your application in and start your end of the process even if you don't see a dog you want yet. more are coming. WWW.NEPYRESQ.ORG

COURTESY POSTING ONLY - MOXIE is a 4 1/2 year old spayed female Great Pyrenees in Southern Maine. She came from another rescue organization She is dog aggressive and Northeast Pyr Rescue does not have a kennel to place her in, away from other dogs, so we are courtesy posting her to help find her a home. Her owner says - "Moxie is a sweet and extremely mellow female. She needs to be on a farm or some place where cars don't drive past her house. She is protective of her owners and isn't happy when cars pass through her territory. She does best without other dogs. She is very lovable and will sit with her head on your lap and stare at you with her beautiful brown eyes. " If interested you need to call or text her owner at 207-807-1621 or email them at rokandmel@comcast.net. Northeast Pyr rescue takes NO responsibility for the placement of this dog. This is a COURTESY POST ONLY. It is between the owner and the adopter. If the adoption does not work out we will not take the dog . It must be returned to the owner.
