Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hi there, my name is Beamer and I would really love to find a family of my own. I have heard my people describe me as the typical Great Pyrenees. I have a long beautiful flowing coat and am fully grown, so what you see is what you get! As you know, the Great Pyrenees is a guardian dog and I take that very seriously. I have recently been thru training to help me understand how to control those natural instincts and look to my person for guidance. I am smart and have learned basic commands that include heel, sit, down, stay, come, and leave it. I would love a person(s) who will be the pack leader and provide me with a loving home where there is structure, security, and guidance so I don’t feel the need to be the protector—somebody who understands my breed. I am a low energy boy but would love a quiet home with a big yard, perhaps a low-energy sister to play with, and a human to take me on walks and continue my training. I also love, love, love empty peanut butter jars—it is my job to clean them out completely! I am housebroken and I enjoy being brushed and loved on, playing with my kong wubba, strolling around and playing with other dogs outside, going for walks and don’t forget the treats the humans give me—I especially love those! If you are a strong leader, who has previous experience and just can’t resist my sweet, gentle, laid back nature, please put in an application to adopt me! I look so forward to meeting you! For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority. If you can't foster or adopt at this time, please consider helping our Neediest Cases. Please visit our ADOPTION CENTER to complete the application form and learn more about Pyrs and our adoption process. Thanks. About Us: National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) is not a shelter. We are a not-for-profit, tax-exempt coalition of Pyr rescuers and rescue groups. We save Pyrs and Pyr mixes across the country and place them in approved foster homes so we know how they will interact with your family. Please consider adopting or fostering. Every dog who is fostered or adopted makes room for another Pyr coming out of a kill shelter. Prior to adoption, NGPR dogs are fostered for a minimum of two weeks (usually more), spayed or neutered and fully vetted. Dogs coming from out of area are certified with a USDA health certificate before going to their new homes. Our rescuers adhere to the highest placement standards and will take back any dog whose adoption does not succeed. Visit www.nationalpyr.org to learn more about us, our mission and our breed.
