Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello Gorgeous! We believe Daisy is a Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever, with the size (100+ lbs) and guardian instincts of a Pyrenees. She has very good manners in the house, but prefers a quiet home without too many visitors. She enjoys daily walks and generally does well meeting most dogs on her walks.  Daisy is not always happy about meeting new people -- she isn't aggressive, but she doesn't trust easily. She has a scary bark and uses it to keep people from encroaching on her personal space.  She tends to accept people more easily if they have a dog, and the second time she sees them, she may basically ignore them. People who love dogs and think that most dogs love them back are often surprised that Daisy won't let them pet her.  But she is a one-family dog.  Once you earn her trust, she rewards you with complete devotion, and will be very affectionate with you. Daisy currently lives in a foster home with several dogs, some her own size and some much smaller. She gets along with all of them, though will often find a quiet spot away from the others to take her nap. She previously lived in a foster home with a small dog and a senior cat, and everyone got along just fine. If you live a nice quiet life and would give to Daisy the same love and devotion she will give to you, Daisy just may be the dog for you! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ferguson came to us with a bad case of sarcoptic mange and significant skin infections. We shaved and bathed him right away to help with clearing up his skin infections. With good care, good food, and medication, Ferguson has blossomed into a truly beautiful boy! His pictures show his progression to good health. Ferguson is a happy boy who gets along well with other dogs. He loves people and loves to play, and has a lot of youthful energy. Given the poor shape he was in when he arrived, it was no surprise to us that Ferguson has some resource guarding issues, particularly with food and treats. For this reason, he needs an experienced adopter who will commit to continuing to work with him as we are doing, to make sure that these issues don't present any more than a minor inconvenience. We feed Ferguson in a separate room from our other dogs, and we ask him to sit before we put the food down. We also ask him to sit before we give him a treat. He has been very cooperative with us, so we believe his resource-guarding can be managed. If you are interested in giving Ferguson a forever home with all the love and food he needs to feel secure, please complete the application on our website at www.bluebonnetrescue.org.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Nell was just 3 months old when she, her mom Violet, and two siblings were picked up by animal control in rural Oklahoma. They were picked up from a property where they were in the pasture with goats. Animal control had to use a "catch-pole" to catch them because the whole little family was showing a fair amount of fear-based aggression. Sadly, the animal control officer made the decision to euthanize one puppy, saying s/he was too aggressive. It's really hard to imagine a 3-month old puppy being so aggressive that an experienced person couldn't have dealt with the issue, but seeing that the "shelter" was willing to put down a puppy, one local person volunteered to foster Violet and her remaining two puppies until she could find a rescue to take them in. When we brought them here, the puppies (whom we named Nell and Maynard) were very frightened, and they tried to avoid my attempts to touch them, but they were never aggressive. They simply acted like feral pups who had ZERO experience with humans, other than their very unfortunate interaction with animal control. After she was old enough to be spayed, we brought Nell inside the house, and one of our Great Pyrenees mix adult females acted as a surrogate mom to her. They shared a giant 54" crate and usually went outside for potty breaks together. Nell was making a little bit of progress in learning to trust me, but then we moved her and her brother to another foster home. There was some regression, which is natural with unsocialized dogs, but both pups are making slow progress again. If you have the patience and compassion to love Nell and work with her to overcome her difficult start in life, please complete the application on our website at www.bluebonnetrescue.org.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Jaycie is one of The Magnificent Seven dogs from a 9,600 acre ranch in the northern-most part of the Texas Panhandle. Like all the others in that group, she spent her life protecting goats, and wasn't ever properly socialized with humans. We have managed to earn her trust, but she is still very shy with strangers. But she's an excellent LGD with our goats, and she gets along with other dogs, as long as they don't pose any threat to the livestock. She ignores our barn cats, but will chase a chicken if one dares to come into her pasture, and I feel sure she would EAT anything she could catch. Jaycie had FHO surgery in April 2019, so she is still in that recovery period where she is regaining the full range of motion and comfort. But she's doing great.  Since she's part of a TEAM of LGDs here at Windsong Ranch, she's not at risk of being harmed by a predator, and her gentle demeanor makes her perfect for staying with the goats while other dogs do perimeter patrols.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Petra is one of seven dogs who came into rescue as working LGDs who spent their lives guarding goats in the Texas Panhandle. They were surrendered by a rancher and have never been properly socialized, although they were spayed/neutered and vaccinated. There are at least three dogs -- one male and two females -- who are so skittish that we think it will take several months to earn their trust. Petra , however, is warming up to human contact, is friendly and gentle, and is a good guardian.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gabriel is a stunningly handsome male with one blue eye and one brown eye. He came from an extreme hoarding case in Arizona where the adult dogs had been left in the field and not socialized with people. Gabriel was the alpha male of the group. All of these dogs were fearful of people in the beginning, and Gabriel had to be tranquilized just to be brought in to the shelter. He's still not comfortable on a leash, but at least he DOES walk now rather than fight it. He wags his tail and does the puppy play-bow, so we know he WANTS to trust us. It's just that he hasn't had much socialization in the past. Gabriel may be slow to trust new people, but he eventually does - it just takes patience. We will be working with these dogs as long as it takes to teach them that humans can be trusted, and that they can continue to live and work in the field but at the same time, they will be fed and loved and given proper veterinary care and will be members of our family. Gabriel so far has proven safe with our livestock and is a fierce guardian. He can be aggressive with people that he does not know, so his adopter will need to be a strong leader and committed to taking the time necessary for Gabriel to grow into a more socialized dog.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
