FAST FACTS:*1 and a Half Year Old, 34 Pounds*Sweet, Loving, Gentle, Smart*Medium Playful Energy*People Friendly *Dog Friendly*Potty Trained*Crate Trained*Recovering From Heartworm Treatment*Training RequiredBIO:Hi all, I'm Pita, another Texas gal found as a stray and brought to an overcrowded shelter. Since Texas has the highest rate of animal euthanasia in the nation, I consider myself lucky indeed to have been rescued by FTF and brought to Chicago to find my forever home. My foster mom says I'm a sweet and loving pooch whose favorite things are giving hugs and kisses and getting lots of pets. I've discovered how much fun it is to go on walks. My leash manners are improving by the day, and I'm quite the social butterfly, always interested in meeting new people and pooches of all ages and sizes. While car rides were a new experience for me, I'm getting the hang of being the backseat navigator (everyone needs one of those-right?!). As I recover from heartworm treatment, I do need to be kept calm until cleared by the vet. But I can't wait for the day when I can be more active-perhaps joining you on long hikes and/or jogs. A few final facts about me. I'm potty trained, settle quickly in my crate, and don't chew on anything that doesn't belong to me. My weak point is food possessiveness. My foster mom is working with me with that, and I'm doing better. With your continued help, and the obedience classes you'll sign us up for (required for all young FTF pups), I know I'll break that bad habit in no time. So this is what you can expect if you adopt me into your home-a loving and gentle canine companion who will give you more love and happiness than you could ever imagine. Interested? Then please complete an adoption application and schedule a meet and greet. I believe we're destined to have a wonderful life together! Love and licks, PitaIf you'd like to adopt this dog, please get started by filling out a complete application (incomplete submissions cannot be sent.) Please note that while we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care as possible, our bios are written from current observations. Though we do our best to share as much information as possible about each dog we care for, we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history, and information pertaining to breed and age are often educated guesses.

Story
Lorelai came into us, pregnant, from a puppy mill that shut down. She was so young when she had her puppies - she was almost a puppy still herself. She came to us very skittish and shy and while she has come leaps and bounds in her foster home, her background of neglect from the puppy mill is coming with her. She can get scared in new situations and with new people and does take a bit to warm up to people. But once she does, she lets her personality shine, which is crazy, active, silly and smart and often mischievous. She knows not to jump on you to say hi, but sometimes she just cannot help it. She knows the garbage is off limits, but you know, sometimes there is just something so wonderful in there that she thinks she needs to bend the rules a bit. She loves toys, and stuffies are her favorites, but she still thinks eating them is a fun thing to do so only certain toys are Lorelai OK'd at this point. Because she thinks anything left out is hers, we do not want young children in the home. Toys and stuffed animals left out will be appropriated and eaten. We are looking for a home for Lorelai that has lots of patience, understands that routine is the key to her comfort and that has at least one other dog for her to gain confidence and learn from. Now that her pups are adopted and in wonderful homes, it is her turn. She is not going to be a super easy dog at first but we guarantee that all the love you put into her will be given back tenfold.

Story
Thor is a young, energetic boy with ice blue eyes who loves to play, but also loves a good snuggle on the couch. He enjoys playing with his Siberian Husky foster sister all day long and often wears her out! Thor is a bundle of energy and would make a great running partner. He needs an outlet for all of his energy; otherwise he tends to get into mischief. Thor will need a home that can give him lots of activity and lots of structure. He is working on his manners in his foster home, but due to the strict structure that he needs, we are looking for an adult only home for him. Thor would be fine as a single dog or with a female dog as a companion (no males, please). Thor is an affectionate guy and at times, forgets his size as he tries to fit into your lap! He is housebroken and crate trained. This special guy needs a special home who is willing to work with him to develop him into the amazing dog he has the potential to be. If you think Thor sounds like a perfect companion, apply today!

Story
Meet Redwood, a gorgeous young active boy. He came to us recently from animal control, where he was found as a stray. Redwood has got a wonderful personality-he loves his humans and is good with other friendly dogs. He likes to play! And play some more. And then play again. This guy has energy beyond your imagination. At only a year old, he still has that puppy energy and is also super strong. His previous owner clearly did not put him through an obedience class which is a shame. This boy is so good about learning manners-he really really wants to please his people, but no one took the time to show him what is expected of him. We are sure he will pick up house manners and learn no jumping soon-this is not a dog that is dominant or demanding. He was just not given the proper structure and training and because of it, he is a LOT of dog right now. But he'll learn. We are looking for a physically active home for our red boy, and someone who can physically handle a 50lb active dog. At this time, until he gets some training, we'd not want young kids that he could potentially knock over. He is so sweet and loves kids, but he just might be too much for little ones at this point. He'd be good with older kids who could play with him in the yard and wear him out a bit! If you know and love this breed and have the strength-physical as well as mental-to take on a wonderfully sweet active boy, apply for Redwood now.

Story
Paoli is just the sweetest thing. She came from a commercial breeder and it is obvious she was not given the love she so desperately craves and deserves. This is a girl that just wants to snuggle up to you and indeed will follow you from room to room, but if you approach her, she will cower at first and get a little scared. She will take a week or so to settle in to a home and begin to trust. For that reason we are looking for a bit more calm home for her-no young kids at this time that might overwhelm her. She is good with other dogs or she could be an only dog. She just has such sparkle in her eyes and really really wants to trust her humans. She gets so excited when she sees her people and then remembers she needs to be a bit shy. But she'll overcome this with time and love we are sure.
