Story
Danny - Male Siberian Husky mix - 2 years oldID # A43078650 Danny is one of our favourites at our shelter. He's very playful and has really warmed up to people since he has been with us. If you come to the shelter and see him in his kennel, he will likely react because he's weary of strangers (especially men) and is fearful. Once he's outside, he's a totally different dog, so please give him a chance. Danny's perfect home has a fenced yard, no kids under 18 years old, no other male dogs and no cats. He will need adopters who are committed to training and socializing him. He is very nervous when he doesn't know the situation. Go slow, give him time and he'll become your best bud. With some structure, Danny will be such a great companion! All adoptable dogs have been given a behavioral test and our staff will be happy to explain the testing and discuss the results with potential adopters during the initial meeting with the dog you are interested in. To see all our adoptable dogs please visit the shelter at 160 Fourth Avenue Mon-Fri 9-5; Sat 10-4; and Sun 11-3.

ROCKY - FOREVER HOME NEEDED ROCKY BALBOA - FOREVER HOME NEEDED Male / Husky mix / 3yrs / 55lbs No other pets / No kids (please see description below) Smart / Friendly / House trained ***Rocky requires a confident handler who understands him and will work with him to overcome his issues. He is doing well in his foster home and we believe he will continue to do well with the right adopter. Free training has been offered to any adopter within Niagara Region, Ontario.*** This sweet boy was surrendered by his owner and his teeth are worn down so there’s a good chance he lived on a chain. Rocky is a smart, friendly boy; house trained but does not like to be crated. He can be dog selective and ignores cats, however we suggest he be the only pet in the home as he sometimes gets jealous of other pets. Rocky is friendly and fine meeting new people but does not like having his head or neck grabbed, so caution must be taken when meeting strangers, especially young children. For this reason, we suggest no kids or teens in the home either. Rocky will need some leash training as he likes to pull during walks. A dominant dog, Rocky will need a strong handler who can take control of him and situations. His energy level is about a 6 out of 10, and he likes to run, but he can climb a chain-link fence so a wooden 6 ft fully-fenced yard would be ideal. Rocky does not like to be handled, and will let you know, so he will need to be muzzled at the vet or during any grooming. He also has some resource guarding, so caution must be taken until he is trained to give. Rocky loves being outside and going for walks, he loves attention and just wants to be by you all the time; he just wants to be loved! Please visit www.petsaliveniagara.ca/adopt for an adoption application. ***Woof.. Please know that the rescue has posted all the information that they have on me here. As my foster family gets to know me they will post updates, so please check back! If you are interested in me please fill out an application at www.petsaliveniagara.ca/adopt and one of my friends will get back to you within 2 to 5 business days.***

Story
Introducing Forest! This majestic beast was found as a stray and never claimed. He’s a friendly, affectionate dude that’s ready to find his perfect family. Forest seems to have an old soul. He’s not phased by much but does prefer a calm, slow introduction when meeting new people and dogs. After a nice long walk he enjoys a good snuggle session where he can be by your side and just gaze affectionately into your eyes. Forest has a sensitive tummy. We are hoping his issue is stress-related and his symptoms stay resolve once he’s out of the shelter, but it may be something that needs to be managed long-term. If you are interested in adopting Forest, please contact Toronto Animal Services West Shelter at 416-338-6271 to start the process. Adoptions are done by appointment only.

Story
***Note: Tom is in Foster so Visitation is by appointment only. If you are interested please submit an online adoption application and we will be in touch.***Meet TomTom is an approximately 2 year old Lab mix. He was found as a stray in a remote community in Northern Manitoba. Tom is a lovely, high energy dog who loves people and play, and also cuddling. Tom would thrive with an active owner who would spoil this sweet boy with walks and games to both physically and mentally stimulate him. When Tom arrived with us, he showed us that he was afraid of other dogs. We have invested in training for Tom and now he loves to play with most dogs when supervised and can be comfortable being around other dogs, provided he has a proper introduction. He has also had some obedience training and is now a wonderful, well behaved dog. He does sometimes test his boundaries so he needs an experienced owner who is willing to work with him to reinforce what he has learned in his training. We recommend a home with no shared walls, access to a fully fenced yard where he can run and play and a family that is home more often than not.Tom would not be good in a home with other small pets, cats or young children. He will be neutered, up-to-date on his core vaccinations and microchipped prior to adoption. If you have questions about him or the process please contact his adoption coordinator at: annars.ehs@gmail.com .
