Story
Wesley is a 6yr husky fella who is a little, well, husky at the moment, weighing in at nearly 80lbs. Wesley had been adopted out in 2016 and likely didn't receive the ongoing exercise, diet or attention he needed. Unfortunately for Wesley, that meant that he gained weight, got uncomfortable and got a little cranky about it. (Who can relate?!?!) Wesley is now back with PAWS for Irving Animals and has been assessed by a trainer. Like many typical huskies, Wesley is very fun-loving, outgoing and chatty. Also like many huskies, he can be a little opinionated and stubborn at times. Because kids can overlook or ignore those behaviors and push a dog too far, we recommend that Wesley be in a home with adults only. Wesley is looking for an active home where he can be a part of all of your adventures! He promises to tell you how much he appreciates you and offer lots of sweet little kisses and silly sounds! IMPORTANT: This animal is NOT at Irving Animal Shelter. This dog has been rescued by PAWS for Irving Animals and is currently in foster care. To set up an appointment for us to bring the dog to meet you, please follow the instructions below. Dogs in our foster care program are: spayed/neutered microchipped up to date on all vaccinations negative for heartworms and on regular heartworm preventative OR recently treated for heartworms and on regular heartworm preventative (It can take up to 6 months for a dog to test negative for heartworm after treatments. We will provide you all the medical documentation regarding the pet's treatment.) in loving foster care homes where they have received training and socialization to help them fit into your home more quickly.  There are a few steps to set up the adoption. Complete the Adoption Application online. The online application is a web-based form that should be accessible on Mac, PC, tablet or other mobile device. If you'd like us to send you a PDF via email, we can do that too! If you are meeting us at an event, you can complete the application at the event itself. We require the application in advance so we can get to know a little more about you, and for better safety of our fosters and the dogs. Schedule a home visit. After the adoption application is received, a volunteer from PAWS for Irving Animals work with you to find the best time to meet the pet. Depending on your schedule and the schedule of the pet's foster parents, this might be at a scheduled adoption event (Adoption Events), an area park, or your home. If that initial visit goes well, a volunteer will visit your home with the pet you are interested in adopting. We will ensure that the pet you are interested in has the opportunity to meet all the members of your immediate family, including other pets, to ensure that this adoption is a good fit. We can even do a trial adoption for a period of up to 3 days if you would like. (Note: If you choose to do a trial adoption, we will hold a check for the full price of the adoption fee until you make your final decision. If you choose not to adopt, we will return the check to you when we pick up the dog.) Pay the adoption fee. The adoption fee is $200 for dogs under 12 months and $150 for dogs over 12 months of age. The adoption fee covers many elements: full vetting (spay, vaccinations, etc), registration of microchip to you, etc. You have 3 options for payment: Via check. This can be either given to foster/volunteer at adoption hand-off or mailed as a check made out to "PAWS for Irving Animals" with "Adoption - DOG NAME" in the memo line. The check can be given to PAWS representative at time of adoption. Online at https://pawsforirvinganimalsllc.cloverdonations.com/adoption/ .  Be sure to select the correct amount - $200 for dogs under 12 months and $150 for dogs over 12 months. You can pay via PayPal as a "Friends & Family" transfer to PAWSforIrvingAnimalsLLC@Gmail.com

Story
My name is Mila and I’m 2 year, 52 lb Husky. I am an active, smart and LOVING young girl. I was found badly injured from an animal attack and was near death. Luckily, Humane Tomorrow got me the best care possible, and now I’m in tiptop shape and LOVE LIFE 100% I’m very smart, I know how to sit, down and wait for my food. I'm affectionate too and love to be near my people. I can be picky about who I like in the dog family. Currently I live with 2 foster brothers, and I love one and tolerate the other. I prefer to be the alpha and the one I like the best is laid back and just wants to play as much as I do. I also love to talk (I’ve got a lot to say ya’ll!), take fast walks (no time for dilly dallying) and learn new tricks for treats. I’m very food motivated and smart so the sky is the limit with what all I can learn. I’m so rambunctious and strong, I’d do better in a home with older kids and at least one other dog that’s on the larger side. I don’t do well with cats or small critters because they are just too much fun to chase after. An experienced dog owner who is willing to show me love, trust and how to be a part of a family is all I could ask for.

Story
Bella is a super sweet girl who loves walks and car rides. She just had her 10th Birthday, but you would never know it. I have had her for a few weeks and she is transitioning pretty well. The previous owners that had her could no longer keep her, so I brought her back to TX with me. Bella has Separation Anxiety. I have taken her to the vet and we have gotten her on medicine now. Her separation anxiety has improved, but is not fully there. Due to me living by myself, it’s hard to train her in an apartment because I can’t really leave her home alone. I love her to death and want to keep her, even though she is adjusting and getting better. I think she belongs to someone that has more experience with this issue, has room for her to run, has patience and has love for a very loving dog. She is friendly with all people, she has some issues with dogs, but others she is fine with. She is good with cats and kids. Please help me find her a long term home that has a lot of love and patience

Last year, I adopted Nala from the mega adoption in Fort Worth. She was shy at first trying to get use to her new home but she will warm up to you. Nala is active a active dog but there are most days she will relax and stay by your side. Due to my new job, I will be traveling and be out 1 or 2 weeks out of the month. Nala is 6 years old and she is a mixed breed a cross between American Pit Bull Terrier and Husky. Nala is house and crate trained. Nala also knows tricks like sit, shake and roll over. Nala gets along with other dogs but if she feels threaten she will defend herself. Nala has one brown eye and one blue eyes.

Story
Update! We recently discovered that Buddy has gone blind from PRA. I found Buddy as a stray in downtown Fort Worth and brought him home knowing that we may not keep him long term. We have 2 children and 2 grown dogs already and weren’t sure how Buddy would fit in with the group. He is very active and mischievous at times. He picks up on things quickly and is very trainable. He learned to ring a string of bells to tell us when he needs to potty outside and goes to his kennel when told and sleeps in there without fussing. We are struggling with some behavior issues with our other dogs and worried that the puppy energy is causing more stress and triggering problems. He is neutered, up to date on shots and prevention meds, and comes with a kennel, bowl, harness, and leash. Buddy is a character and we love him, we really hope he can find a loving home with active owners that have the time and energy to devote to him. He’s a great companion and gives us plenty of entertainment.
