Animal Welfare organizations have been deemed as essential business, and so we are able to continue our operation. However, we are taking the threat of COVID-19 very seriously and are following the government guidelines and implemting our own precautions. Meet & Greets will continue to be on an appointment basis only. They will take place either in the outside enclosed area, or the large room at the end of he kennels. There is a no contact, other than with the dog in place and children will not be allowed out of their vehicles. DAKOTA was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved and transported to the rescue in Sebec, Maine DAKOTA is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, heart-worm & tick disease tested negative, de-wormed, monthly preventatives and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 14 February 2010 and at the time of rescue in February 2020 weighed around 15 pounds. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely. DAKOTA arrived at the rescue on Tuesday, 25th February and is not sure what is happening. We think he was most likely an owner surrender to the kill shelter, but are not 100% sure. Dakota is a senior boy, who is very gentle and quiet - he is living with the small dogs in the house and tends to keep himself to himself. I think it is a bit busy for him, he would prefer somewhere quiet where he can enjoy being loved and going on nice walks. All dogs use dog doors to go out and do their business or to enjoy the cool, fresh weather in their dog runs or communal areas. We cannot say if a dog is house-trained, however, we expect families to understand that all dogs need a transition period and accidents could happen and training is most definitely needed. DAKOTA is available for adoption for an adoption fee of US $550. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food, general day to day cost of running a brick and mortar rescue and anything else that is needed. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada.
