Story
UPDATE: Max currently has a potential foster-to-adopt waiting for him, so we ask you to please check back after April 20 to see if he becomes available after he arrives in MD.  Thank you! Max is a one year old Labradoodle whose family got in over their heads with too many dogs, and found themselves needing to find a home for Max. We were contacted and of course we agreed to find Max the perfect forever family! Max is a large boy, with loads and loads of playful energy. He is great with other dogs especially if they love to play. He is great with kids and has been around kids of all ages. However, due to his size, he may be too much for very tiny kids. He can be rather timid in new situations, but has not shown any aggression at all (he tried to hide from the groomer who had to lift him into her truck to bathe him). He needs to be more socialized and exercised than he currently is in order to bring out his very best. He also needs someone willing to put in the time to teach him some manners. He is housebroken, crate trained, and is overall a really good boy who needs an active family that has time for him. Max's coat is long and wavy and will need regular grooming (every 8-12 weeks) to prevent matting. Max has no known health issues, and will be fully vetted (to include neuter, microchipped, heartworm test, dewormer, etc.) prior to adoption. Max needs a foster in the MD/DC/VA area by April 10, 2020, the day he is expected to arrive. We are hoping to find a family that wants to adopt him who is willing to take him in as a foster for a week or two to ensure a good fit, and then hopefully adopt him. If this sounds like something you're willing to do, we would love to hear from you! Interested fosters/adopters please email MJsAnimalSanctuary@gmail.com to request an application. Adopters/fosters are subject to reference check, vet reference, home visit, and when Max arrives, a meet and greet with all family members. Adoption fee applies at the time of actual adoption.

Story
TAZ - located in North East MD. This is one sweet boy!! He was listed as 7 years old - but seems younger with his energy level. He is a Chessie/APBT mix clearly - you cannot deny that beautiful chocolate brown coat! He is a neutered male, about 60 lbs. He is a little tall and leggy. He loves the outdoors and will stay out all day no matter the weather, but he also adores cuddling with his human or laying on his dog bed with a toy or treat. But being outside is where it's at for him - he LOVES to lay in the sun, and his favorite toy is a STICK!! He is absolutely not good with cats (he has a prey drive) and seems to be better with like sized female dogs, but is not good with males. Taz is great with kids, but he might accidentally knock the littler ones over. He is both house and crate trained. He is microchipped and UTD on vaccines. His foster Mom is willing to pay his adoption fee for the right forever placement!! Please, won't you meet this hunk? You won't be sorry you did!

Story
Howard was surrendered to rescue by his caretaker after his owner passed away. Howard was a show dog/stud in his younger years but is now fraile & thin in his senior years. We're not sure if his condition is medical or just the stress of losing his owner. Howard is a miniature poodle and only weighs 10 pounds. I estimate a healthy weigh for him should be around 15 pounds. His microchip was sold to his breeder in 2002, although that does not mean that's when the chip was implanted. Howard was listed as 12 yrs old when he received his rabies vaccine in October of 2017, so he is now estimated to be 14-15 years old. Although Howard needs to be neutered, I don't think that's possible in his current condition. I want to have his bloodwork checked by our vet and let him gain weight before making the decision to have him neutered. As always, I respect the advice from our vet. Howard will need to be fed multiple small meals a day to help him gain weight. If you could send him a case of canned food, it would be greatly appreciated. We have several varieties on our Amazon wishlist although I do believe the Nature's Recipe Easy To Digest would be easiest on his stomach. Our Amazon wishlist is: https://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/1XQG0IWY15PME?ref_=wl_share Howard is such a sweet boy and loves attention. He immediately snuggled up in a soft bed and eagerly played with a squeaky toy. We don't know much about his life before now but I guarantee he will be pampered for whatever time he has left. Howard will be looking for a quiet retirement home once he's checked by our vet. If you think you can give Howard the love he needs, please send us a message. We are located in Baltimore and travel up to 2 hours for adoptions. Thank you! (Howard was surrendered by his caregiver because he and the other dog in her home did not get along. Howard was only in her home for a week, so it's possible he could acclamate with another dog after proper time and help from an experienced owner. He has not had any reaction to the cats in his foster home. Due to his age, he prefers a home without young children)
