Story
Roxy is a young Lab mix puppy, born January 2020.  Upon intake, she is extremely skinny, but very active.  She gets along well with other dogs and with people.  Because she is so young and so active, we recommend that her new home have no toddlers.  More information will be available when she settles into her foster home. The suggested adoption donation for Roxy is $450.  We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE.  Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. Information about the adoption process:  All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION.  Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match.  If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet.  The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter.  We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs.  If you and the dog are not a good match, we will help you select another dog, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Piper is a very loving, 4-year-old Black Lab who is very playful. She has the true Lab instinct of always carrying something around in her mouth. She loves going for long walks and playing fetch. Piper loves everyone and enjoys having lots of attention and even thinks of herself as a lap dog. She would love to sleep with you at night but will curl up in her own bed on the floor beside yours. She has lived her 4 years in the same home, but recently has become aggressive towards a resident dog. Nothing else has ever caused her to be aggressive. This sweet dog knows several commands and is housebroken. She is not destructive at all and can be left alone while her people go to work. Piper’s perfect home will be one where she is the only pet and can have all the attention for herself. She would like a fenced yard where she can play fetch and run. The suggested adoption donation for Piper is $250, which is TAX DEDUCTIBLE, and goes toward providing supportive services to animals in the home, as well as the high cost of vetting our animals in rescue.  If you would like to welcome Piper into your home, please begin by submitting our adoption application.  The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. Story
Gemini is doing amazingly well in her foster home after having a rough start in life.  She is incredibly smart; knowing many commands including sit, stay, drop it, leave it, take it, shake, turn, go, come, touch, kennel, fetch and several others.  Her foster says that Gemini actually thinks things through and figures out what needs to be done without being told. Due to having been tortured and neglected by men in the past, she has every right to be slow to trust them.  She is still learning to enjoy the company of other animals. Gemini weighs 50 lbs so any dog in the home would need to be at least her size in order for there to be a possibility that she would get along with them. Gemini loves to run and would be a great running partner. The perfect home for this bundle of love, entertainment, and personality would be with a single woman who is an experienced dog owner and has no other pets in the home. Gemini is a charming young lady who will be a devoted companion to her lucky adopter.  Gemini is kennel trained, is never destructive when roaming freely in the home, and is completely housebroken. She will need a fenced yard so she can get her energy out until her little heart's content. We prefer that Gemini's adopter live in the Omaha area so that she can work with our trainer at our expense, if anything should ever arise. Gemini's ideal adopter would be a dog experienced female, willing to continue to work with her on her fear issues. In return for these things, Gemini would provide protection, loyalty, companionship and would be one of the smartest , most eager to please dogs you have ever met.   The suggested adoption donation for Gemini is $200, which is tax deductible an goes toward the high cost of vetting our rescue dogs.  Gemini is healthy and fully vetted.  All she needs is a Second Chance! ##84722##

Story
Juneau is a Lab mix, date of birth estimated to be 12/18/2017.  To fully know Juneau, you need to know a little of her background..  She was dumped on a farm in Spring, 2019, and gave birth to a beautiful litter of puppies shortly after.  She and her puppies were cared for by the farmer and free-roamed the farm until late Fall, 2019 when the farmer became concerned about the welfare of Juneau and her puppies being outdoors during the approaching cold weather.  And, that’s how she came to be in a Muddy Paws foster home. Considering her earlier life, Juneau, although still timid, is doing amazingly well.  There are several young children in her foster home, and she is happy to allow them to pet her.  If they run after her, however, she becomes very nervous and moves out of reach.  She has made friends with the big and small dogs in her foster home but prefers to play with one her size or larger, she ignores the little dogs.  On first glance, you'd think she was a black lab mix but she has a beautifully unique, brown toned coat that is coarse and she is smaller than the average lab. Juneau is not at all destructive unless she is left home alone so she needs to be kenneled at those times.  Do you want to see a dancing dog?  You should see Juneau dance when her people return home!  Juneau is a fan of any comfy place to sleep, but she prefers to be near her people.  She does well in her kennel overnight, if needed.  Food is a great motivation so, using treats, she has been taught some basic commands.   She is learning to enjoy rides in the car, has some anxiety to work on but walks very nicely on a leash.  She is completely house trained and even goes to the far side of the yard to keep her yard clean.   Due to Juneau's insecurities she needs to have another gentle, confident dog in the home. The perfect home for Juneau is one where she can learn to love and trust. Though not the cuddle type, she has learned she enjoys a good rub or brushing. She will do best if someone in her family is home more often, and there should be a fenced yard. Please note:  Juneau does very well in her foster home.  However, due to her anxiety, she will need to be transitioned very slowly into her new home, and it might look like this:  Her first visit or visits should be a short ones with her foster mom staying there with her.  When that goes well, on another day, the foster mom could leave for a short time, and in subsequent visits the time should be increased until Juneau is able to try an overnight stay.  The timing for all of this will depend on Juneau.  She is a wonderful dog and is worth this extra effort. The suggested adoption donation for Juneau is $300..We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes. All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog's foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet.
