She has overcome so much & has transformed into a loving family member that loves walks, patio dining, boat rides & the drive-in. She gets along great with other dogs. She is independent & will sometimes choose to relax in her 'apartment' (a pen with a top with food, water & a snuggly bed) but also loves to be around her people & her brothers & sisters.She has skin allergies* so she takes over the counter allergy medication twice a day & needs to be bathed regularly with creme rinse & once a month with a medicated shampoo.*We think Finn may have come from a situation where she was used for breeding. She was frightened by any sound, light as well as human contact & prefered her crate to being around people or our dogs. She had skin issues, she scratched constantly & was never really able to relax. She had intestinal/digestive issues & was very thin. Through months of medical treatment, medications & unadulterated love & compassion she is well & has been transformed into a sweet, smart, adorable family member.

MEET SIMBA! Simba is a very sweet one year old maltese poodle mix we think. He was recently rescued from the shelter and is coming out of his shell. He's doing well with other dogs in his foster. Simba will come to you for attention and is affectionate but he does not like being picked up or reached for. His new owners must be committed to going slow with him and doing training to build his confidence. He is not a good fit for a home with kids. His new home also needs previous dog experience. 7/20/2018: Update from foster home: Zeke has come along way. When we got him he was so starved you could feel his ribs and hip bones. It's taken him a long time to trust but with his abusive last home that is what is expected. Loves his little squeaky toys (doesn't squeak them) just loves to carry around the house and when done carries them inside his kennel. Kind of a little toy hoarder. He also loves playing with his foster home's little female dog. Very adorable personality. Zeke would be great in a home as an only dog or with another small female companion. He would do best in a home with one person preferable; female since the male was the abuser in his last household. Ezekiel needs to learn that he is safe and feels loved. He does well at temp. vacation foster home (very experienced) with another gentle male dog and loves his walks. He will need an experienced one person adult-only home. NO KIDS since he may nip. Zeke also tries to guard his master. This will take an experienced home that knows to put Zeke away when he exhibits this behavior - most commonly when visitors come to house. He is content being somewhere by himself when guests are visiting. He prefers quiet routine walks around neighborhood. He is fearful at new and busy places. We are looking for a home with someone that is willing to work with him in the situations he is fearful of; public etc.

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated and microchipped. * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fee is $400-$800. if a biography does not otherwise say then it is $400. Adoption Fee: $500 Splenda is a 3 year old Maltipoo who was rescued from the shelter where he was listed as a stray. He weighs 15lbs. Splenda has a non-shedding coat that is an option for those who have allergies or simply want a dog who doesn't shed. He will require regular grooming. Splenda is a happy go lucky guy who loves being the center of attention. When you call him he will run up to you and greet you with a giant smile and wiggly butt. Splenda's outgoing personality brings him to life. When he first arrived in the foster home he was running around sniffing the house and couldn't wait to play with the dogs in the home. Splenda has a grade 2/3 heart murmur. He is not on meds. He may never have to be on meds for it. His limitations are that he can't be forced to do high energy activities (like jogging along side his human) but rather just keep him low key. Splenda walks well on the leash. He loves going on walks. Splenda also enjoys seeing new places. He loves other dogs and loves playing with them. He will enjoy meeting and greeting new dogs. He is an option for the dog park or doggy day camp. His activity should be kept to a moderate and he shouldn't overly exert himself. With dogs like him, typically they don't so it's not a concern. He would be an option for joining a dog in his new home. Splenda loves squeaky toys and loves to run around squeaking them. He was non reactive to having a hand near his food bowl. Splenda is only an option for a home that has had a dog of their own as an adult. If there are children they need to be over the age of 6.
