You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.    PLEASE NOTE: GPMR communicates primarily by email.  If you have any questions regarding one of our Mastiffs, please read their bio and if you still have questions- drop us an email at info@greatplainsmastiffrescue.org .  If you have questions about our adoption procedures, please go to our Pages of Interest on the left hand column under 'Adoption Info.'  We answer email inquiries almost immediately-usually always within a few hours and phone calls are returned with 24-36 hours.    GPMR does not have a shelter. All of our dogs are kept in loving foster homes. We must have a completed adoption application on file before meeting any of our mastiffs.    GPMR adopts to the states of Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Missouri, Louisiana and parts of Colorado.  !!!Any mastiffs being adopted out of the state of Oklahoma require a health certificate to be paid for by the adopter!!!       Meet Junebug! We're honestly not sure how old she is, one vet said she’s about 2 years old, the shelter guessed her at 4 years old. So maybe somewhere in the middle. :)June is beautiful girl who somehow found herself in pretty bad shape as a stray in a shelter. She required emergency surgery but wasn’t responding well to the antibiotics. The shelter reached out, we got our hands on her and she’s doing much better now that she’s out of the shelter, has some new meds and has been given lots of TLC. There is a growth on foot that we are currently addressing, and we’ll know a better course of action in a few weeks. In the meantime, Junebug is doing well in her foster home. She loves, loves, loves people and attention. She really likes to cuddle which is hard to do with her cone on right now. She also loves to play with toys of any kind and run around in the yard. We are still determining if she is dog friendly. So far she has not been a fan of the other dogs in her home, but we’re giving her more time to heal and feel better before trying her with them again. However it may be she will have to be placed as the only pet in her adoptive home. Due to her age and rambunctiousness, a home with older kids would be best. She is going to be a great addition to a family! Junebug will be available for adoption once medically cleared. If you are interested in adding her to your home, you are encouraged to fill out an application.Junebug is being fostered in Tulsa, OK.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!

Story
Now it's time to meet ""Sleepy Joe""!Here is yet another puppy who needs a second chance. He was surrendered to a local animal control office, but we are committed to finding him a loving, forever homes with comfy couches or dog beds!Sleepy Joe is a Mastiff mix, aged nearly 6 months. He has a beautiful brindle and white coat with perfect markings. He already weighs 50 pounds and still has quite a bit of growing to do. He doesn't sleep all of the time, but napping is definitely one of his favorite pastimes! True to his breeding, he is very mellow and laid back, even for a puppy, but let's not forget that he is a puppy. Without training and stimulation, puppies can be quite destructive. He will definitely need an active, involved role with his family as he will not be content left in a backyard with no interaction. Training will be especially important so that his size doesn't become unmanageable. Thankfully, Sleepy Joe is smart and eager to learn!Sleepy Joe has begun his puppy vaccination schedule and is now receiving preventatives for fleas, ticks, intestinal parasites and heart worms. He is neutered and available for immediate adoption. Call us at 580 252-7387 or send us a message on Facebook, if you would like to meet Sleepy Joe. We can even schedule a Facetime interview for you!For more information, please email Stephens County Humane Society at schs@att.net, or call us at 580-252-7387 (PETS). Our animals are spayed/neutered, UTD on shots, and treated for ticks, & fleas. Cats are tested for FeLV & FIV; and dogs are tested for heart worms.Normal adoption fee for cats is $75.00; and $100.00 for dogs, but we frequently have specials running and/or animals who have had their adoption fee sponsored, so ... call us! Let us help you find your next fur-baby!

He was loved very much, but his size was a bit much for the young/small children. Zeus is a typical velcro mastiff and will follow his people everywhere. Don’t be deceived by his impressive stature, Zeus is still a puppy and very playful. He loves to play with his foster sister. We don’t think he’s been exposed to cats yet, so we are unsure how he would respond to a feline friend. Zeus is eager to learn commands and wants to please his people. The only area where he needs extra work is being on a leash. Unfortunatley his previous owners never leash trained him and so now Zeus has a phobia of leashes and tries to hide or alligator roll his way out of one. We have some helpful hints and have started the training and exposure process. Like many Mastiffs he can be stubborn and also a great big baby at the same time.Zeus craves attention. He is house trained and has free roam, and to date, he has never bothered anything that isn’t a dog toy. This sweet 'puppy' has all the potential in the world to be the perfect mastiff. He is a little under 2 years old. All he needs is the person or family! If that family has kids they should be 7+ years old.Zeus is being fostered in Yukon, OK.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Save a Mastiff...Adopt, Foster, Volunteer!

Story
Buddy was found severely emaciated with his canine teeth filed down. He was possibly used as a bait dog in the past and undoubtedly suffered extreme abuse. This makes him overwhelmed by being around other dogs, specifically male. It's unfortunate, but he more than makes up with all the love he has for all humans! Now that he trusts people, Buddy cannot give enough love. He's super vocal about his joy and always greets you with a howl. As much as he loves his walks, I think it's safe to say car rides are his favorite. He lives for bedtime snuggles, but will wait in his bed til welcomed up. He will lay next to you all day or be your very best road trip/hiking companion. Buddy is fully house trained and able to be trusted without a crate. I've never been around a bigger personality in an animal and he deserves to be cherished for all that he has to offer. Although he's come a long way, I'm moving out of the country and can't take him with me. Please contact to meet this loveable Hippo :)
