Story
Bella has not had a great life. Her original owner took her to a friend to keep for a while and the owner never came back to get her and they moved out of the country. The friend already had 4 dogs and couldn't keep another. All Bella wants is to stay with her people and be loved. It's apparent she has been abused as she will cowar down with sudden movement towards her. She is just so scared of being abandoned again. Can you give this sweet baby her FURever home?

Story
Meet Gunner! I'm Gunner and I'm 11 years old and 63 pounds. I was taken to the shelter by my family after living with them my whole life, but I know there is a different family, who will love me more than my last out there! I'm house trained, I get along with dogs, cats, and even small humans. I like to eat my food in peace, so i get fed in my crate so no other animals bother my meal times. One of my favorite things to do is run around the yard with toys in my mouth. Yes, plural, toys. I'll try to fit all the toys i can in my mouth, and then play keep away with you. It's a fun game 'cuz I'm super quick, so I always win! My foster mom says I like using my voice, so living in a multi-family home isn't in the cards for me. I wasn't taught manners in that sense in my old home, so me and her, we are working together on not using my voice quite so much, and I think I'm progressing! I'm an active boy, looking for a family, or a single person, who likes to go for walks, or even runs. I'll be your running partner if you'd like! Do you need a pal to do all the things with you? I'll be that for you, if you let me! Our process includes an approved application, reference checks, a homevisit, and then a meet and greet with the dog. Adoption fee is $250. Story
Doogie Bowser here. I am approximately one yr old 55 lbs lab/pointer mix. My foster mom and the vet says I’m still under weight even though I have gained 10 lbs since arriving in Illinois. I love to play with all my foster sisters and brothers. It’s great there are puppies, little and big dogs. Boys and girls. I love to get loved on and cuddle. I am working on house training since everyone is pretty sure I have never lived in a house before. I’m just a big young pup who is ready to learn so bring on the trainer and I'll bring on the love! Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spay/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, we do not permit out of state adoptions of unaltered dogs or puppies. Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a “teen” or adult dog. Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping. We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details. Please note that the breeds and sizes posted in this biography are educated best guesses and are not guaranteed.

Story
Hi I'm Mila! I love love LOVE to snuggle....with humans or pups! When I'm not snuggling, I'm playing with my foster brother. We LOVE to wrestle and chase each other. I'd love a foster sibling, but I'd be ok on my own too. I've lived with a cat before, but I showed quite a bit of interest in it… so no cats for me please. I'm a big fan of kids because they seem to love to pet me and I seem to love to be pet by them. As you can tell I'm a super good girl, but it gets better.... I'm house trained AND crate trained. What can I say, I'm pretty much the whole package. Feel free to insta stalk me: #HoustonCaresMila
