Story
My name is Cali and I'm one of the sweetest girls you'll ever meet. I have beautiful blue eyes and a loving personality. I am a 1 1/2 year old, Husky/Lab mix and weigh about 30 lbs. I can't tell you what happened to me the first year of my life, but it has made me shy around humans. I'm getting better, because my foster mom is gentle with me and understands that it's hard for me to trust people because they haven't always been very nice to me. I love to be at home and to play outside with other dogs. I do not like car rides or outings. I don't really like going for walks around a lot of people, and I'm afraid of cars but I'm getting better about this. I live with other cats and dogs, but I play too rough with cats, so it's better I don't live in a house with them. My foster mom has trained me to stay in a crate when she is at work. It's OK, especially if she gives me a treat when I go in by myself. For some reason that makes her happy. I used to have to be carried to my crate but I'm not afraid of it anymore. Just don't put in a soft, thick cushion for me because they are fun to tear up when I get bored. In the afternoons I stay out of the crate and sleep on the couch. I like a lot of playtime outside with my doggy sisters. My BFF is a wired-haired chihuahua who is also available for adoption. My foster mom says I need a very special human who is willing to take the time get to know me and not yell at me or hit me if I make a mistake. I am potty trained, but if the weather is too bad I may have an accident in the house. So, if you think you might want to meet me, please let my foster mom know. She loves me a lot and said I could only go with someone that's really special. I want my human to be very nice and gentle, and who will let me sleep by their side at night, because that makes me feel safe. I can't live with a lot of noise or small children though, because I might react out of fear. I would never hurt someone intentionally though. The adoption fee includes vaccinations, bordetella, deworming, rabies, spay/neuter, microchip, a lifetime registration of the microchip, and sales tax. If adopting a puppy, the rabies and spay/neuter will be done at the same time by our vet once they are 4 months old and billed to us. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it.
