Shaka is a 4 year old mix who is super spoiled and lovable. She loves to play fetch, catch and hide and seek. She is also the perfect cuddle buddy and loves to lay around and watch movies or nap with her family. She is an inside dog but loves to go on hikes and walks with her family. Shaka has traveled all over the U.S. having visited several National Parks and Monuments! She would be best in a family as the only pet, as she does not get along with other animals.

Apollo needs a home with:-No cats-No dogs-No chickens-No kids under the age of 12-No apartmentsMeet Apollo! Apollo is a handsome 4 year old Thai Ridgeback (he is listed online as a Rhodesian Ridgeback because his true breed, Thai Ridgeback, is unfortunately not listed as an option in our shelter database). He is an energetic boy who would love to accompany you on your morning runs or your favorite hiking trails. It is important that his adopters are prepared to give him plenty of exercise to keep him healthy and happy! Although on occasion he has been know to snuggle on the couch, he absolutely loves playing and would appreciate all different kinds of toys - especially ones of the squeaky variety! He's ready for his adopter to teach him how to play fetch (he loves to chase the ball, but he doesn't quite know how to bring it back yet!). He'd also appreciate fun food puzzles like Kongs stuffed with tasty peanut butter to keep him mentally stimulated all day long. Apollo is looking for a house (no apartments please) with children over the age of 12. He needs to live in a home without other dogs, without chickens and without cats. Apollo can be a bit shy at first and takes some time, love, and treats to warm up to new people. Once he is comfortable, he loves to cuddle on the couch and get lots of pets. He is a smart boy and would benefit from positive reinforcement training so that he can bond with you over a shared activity. I have had Gracie for about 6 or 7 years. I Took her in from my moms neighbors because they were moving. She was with my mom for many years in a fenced yard, my mom got cancer and had to move to a smaller place that didn't allow large pets, so I had to take her. I live above where I work in the city no fence, the business see's a lot of customers, recently the last 6 months or so, she has become very sketchy & snipped at a couple of the customers, so I had to kennel her, in less then 3 weeks she destroyed one kennel and broke a couple teeth (it was solid steel) and so I bought her a Large Plastic kennel were the doors are small grated so she couldn't get her teeth in their, well she did and broke a couple more teeth and had to cut the grate off her jaw. She is very smart, always was very well behaved good on leash & muzzle but ever since the kenneling now she is terrified of me, I can't get a leash or muzzle on her. I don't know what to do I can't afford to keep taking care of her.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Penny, a young Mountain Cur/Catahoula. Penny loves training and learning new commands. She  is incredibly smart, food-motivated, and eager to please - making her a breeze to train . After training, she loves to nap. Her ideal home is with someone who is home most of the day, has a big yard for her to do her zoomies, enjoys training activities with a dog (e.g., agility, obedience, etc.), and enjoys snuggling on the couch. Sadly, Penny has had multiple homes in her short life and is cautious around new people. She would not do well in a home with new people coming and going often. She would also not do well in an apartment or home without a fenced yard.   Penny needs an owner committed to giving her a structured, daily routine. She has completed a board and train program to learn to be less fearful in new situations. The trainer says Penny is a wonderful dog and has a great personality, and best of all - is ready for her forever home! If Penny sounds like she could be a good fit for you, please complete an adoption application.  As a purely foster based rescue we have no central location at which you can visit our dogs, consequently we only honor meeting requests from pre-approved adopters.  Please fill in our online application at www.myaarf.org as fully as you can.  It won't obligate you to anything or any particular dog but gives us a great place from which to begin the matching process.  Please allow 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteers.
