Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me! Please check below to see what upcoming adoption events I will be attending or apply here for a private meeting. If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <underdogrescue@petml.com> ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Due to concern around COVID-19, Underdog Rescue is suspending all public adoption events and community events. We are still accepting applications for available dogs but are delaying in-person meet and greets due to the ‘stay at home’ policy. Thank you for your support. DOB: 7/28/2015 Requires another dog in home: No, as long as people are often home Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown Requires a fenced yard: Yes Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area Gladys an adorable 16 lb Shih-Tzu girl who is super sweet girl and she loves being loved. She doesn't like to be left alone or left in her kennel. She would do best with someone who is at home most of the time. She absolutely loves being held and sitting next to you on the couch or bed. She has never tried to jump up on furniture, but she learned to do the basement stairs very quickly. She likes to wrestle with other small dogs and chew on bones, but she has never destroyed anything. Her potty training is a work in progress. She is afraid to be outside, but with the weather getting nicer, she will follow her foster mom around the yard; however, she is often afraid to walk away. She has started doing her morning business outside but it's not a daily routine yet. She does go 8-9 hours at night without a potty break though, so she knows that. There are potty pads in the garage, so she goes on them sometimes when she doesn't want to go outside. She panics in the kennel but needs to go in there when her foster family leaves, so she won't potty in the house. She does well confined in the kitchen with another dog but sometimes breaks out. She gets a bit defensive when she is with her human and another dog enters her space, but her foster family is working on that and she is getting better. Still, when a new dog is around, she'll growl at it if she is on your lap. She likes to play with small toys and marrow bones. She eats almost anything but is a bit chunky. Gladys has the face of a Meerkat. She’s such a cute girl. She is a bit of a softy, so if she gets scolded, she'll spend the next 15 minutes loving up on her human. Really, that's all she wants is affection from her human. Are the one who can give her that? Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. ADOPTION EVENTS: Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/ Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN. All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog.
