Story
Goose is a male tri colored treeing Walker coonhound found as a stray on Lynnville Hwy. He is very thin and emaciated and has been put on a special feeding schedule at the shelter to help him safely gain weight. He is on owner stray hold until 2-20 since he was wearing a collar, but once off stray hold he will be available as rescue only to a 501c3 rescue group until he has gained enough weight to be fully vetted. He weighs 600 pounds right now up from 50 but is still not in good enough condition to be neutered. We are looking at getting him neutered on 2-27. He is heartworm negative but positive for erlichia so is on antibiotics for that. He is also being treated for an ear infection. His meds will go with him to rescue. HE IS NOT GOOD WITH CATS AT ALL! The current adoption fee is $75 which includes the dogs spay or neuter and Rabies vaccination at a local vet, and covers the distemper/parvo vaccine and bordetella vaccine and dewormings it receives here at our shelter. No dog will leave the shelter to an adopter without being vetted first. By TN state law stray dogs are held for 3 days so they can be found by their owners before being put up for adoption or rescue. A dog found as a stray wearing a collar is held for 5 days before it is put up for adoption or rescue. Our shelter is a first come first adopt/rescue facility. There are no holds placed on dogs for potential adopters/rescue, however if a party is interested in a particular dog before it becomes available they may send an inquiry to susan.ragsdale@lewisburgtn.gov and those inquiries will be kept track of in order of received once dog becomes available. Adopters/rescues will be notified what order they are in in regards to each dog. They are available at 8am on the day they are available. Non vetted dogs will have an appointment scheduled and will be available for pickup for adoption the day after their surgery. Approved rescues may pull a dog and have vetted at their own expense once available to the public.

Story
Katie is a VERY pretty hound, but we have to admit she is on the heavy site. Her owner turned her in and we just recently noticed some seizure activity. Our Vet put her on medication and it seems to help, we have not seen an other one since. It probably would help if she looses weight. Katie is a lazy hound and would be perfectly happy sitting with you watching TV. Ark Rescue dogs are available for adoption to homes in the Alabama and Tennessee Valley area only. We do require a secure fenced-in yard to adopt our larger dogs.
