Story
Male Breed: "Biscuit Cream American Eskimo & Terrier Mix Colors: Cream & White Age: 2 Years Weight: 15-20 lbs Neutered, Chipped, UTD on vaccinations Undergoing heartworm treatment SPOILER ALERT - This story has a happy ending! Tobias is a beautiful little "Biscuit Cream American Eskimo and undetermined Terrier mix. Picked up as a stray, Tobias displayed fear in the shelter environment to the point of appearing feral. He had no hope of adoption without intervention. He desperately needed to decompress and learn to trust humans. Enter CAMO Rescue and the group's compassionate team of animal advocates. American Eskimos or "Eskies are usually social dogs. But an Eskie that has been neglected, undertrained, or treated cruelly is likely to develop behavior problems. The heroes who saved Tobias know this breed is among the most trainable of dogs. Eskies insist upon being part of their family's life. They are described as clever, kid-friendly, and eager to please. So what in the world caused Tobias to be so fearful? Well, poor little Tobias was picked up as a stray in Houston. It is believed he must have been trying to survive on his own for quite some time. Under all that hair, he was skin and bones. Here's what the shelter said about him: He will need lots of love to overcome what has happened that has made him so terrified of people. He has most likely experienced being hurt by humans, cruelty. His prospects for being adopted are pretty low. He is so terrified he exhibits feral-like behavior. He fights a leash and may never have even seen one. He thrashes around when shelter staff manage to get a leash on him. He doesn't understand that people care and are trying to help him, not hurt him. He needs a super special person who can love him into being able to relax and trust. He's an American Eskimo mix. Posting in the hopes this message could reach someone who could help this baby. Guessing he would need to be an only child in every respect, at least initially. We've seen miracle turn arounds before. Paws crossed there will be a miracle for this little boy. Well, someone DID see that post and the little guy's miracle is in process! CAMO pulled him out of the shelter and sent him to a willing foster in the DFW area. Although he was skinny at just 13 lbs, he was too fearful to eat for a few days in his foster home. And he was coughing-a lot. He also tested positive for heartworms. Clearly, the poor little guy was miserable and almost ready to give up on life. His foster wanted to pick him up, hold him tight, and tell him how much she loved him. But Tobias was afraid to be touched. He would not make eye contact, a sign of having been mistreated. Fast forward one month. Tobias eats well and has gained much-needed weight. His kennel cough-GONE! He's undergoing heartworm treatment, which will continue for several months and is 100% sponsored by CAMO. He's crate trained, house-trained, walks well on a leash, likes to be brushed, and enjoys other gentle dogs. He dances and prances when it's time for a walk. He loves to give and receive affection and even kisses his foster mom. Is Tobias the perfect dog? Not yet, but he's getting closer to perfection every day. He's still a little afraid of strangers and averts eye contact when he's unsure of people. But he is HAPPY! He is ALIVE! And his CONFIDENCE and TRUST continue to build with each day. Our little miracle boy will need a patient adopter, a special someone who will continue to help him on his journey to live his best possible life. In return for patience, he will provide years of loyal companionship. He will delight his special person with his cute antics, amaze with his cleverness, and will keep everyone on their toes with his need for physical and mental stimulation. Tobias is proof positive that miracles do happen. Could you be the one to complete this boy's happily-ever-after story? Story
Meet Goldie! He is approximately 10-years-old and 10 pounds. He is a sweet senior boy that is unfortunately missing most of his fur, most likely due to black skin disease and/or flea allergies. He was completely bald when he entered our rescue a couple months ago, and his fur is finally starting to come back in. He is a great little guy that deserves a forever home despite his appearance, and we hope someone can see his true potential and love him just the way he is. Goldie, or Snowball as his foster likes to call him, does great with other animals and doesn't mind kids. He can be a bit protective at times of his person and does struggle with separation anxiety. He is not a huge fan of the kennel, but he quiets down after a while. Unfortunately his foster has not been able to potty train him, but she has great success reducing marking with washable belly bands. Goldie walks well on a leash and loves going on car rides! He is neutered, vaccinated, heart worm negative, microchipped, and recently had a dental. He is $150 plus TX sales tax with an approved application: www.recycledpomsbcs.com/adopt Texas law requires that all humane organizations (Rescues, SPCA’s, Humane Societies, State nonprofit, and charitable 501c3 exempt orgs) collect and remit sales and use tax to the Texas Comptroller on their adoption fees. Story
Meet Dora! This beautiful girl is approximately 8-years-old and 9 pounds. She is a Pomeranian/Poodle mix, with the cutest scowl face and curly fur! Don't let her scowl fool you though, she really is a sweet girl! Dora came into rescued after being thrown from a moving vehicle and sustaining a neck injury. Luckily, the injury was not serious and just causes some stiffness in her head movements. This sweet girl is not necessarily a snuggle bug, but she's learning to trust and will be the perfect little companion given some time and patience. She's learning to go potty outside, walk in a harness/leash, and be content in her kennel. She is on arthritis medication for her neck stiffness and is doing great! She is spayed, vaccinated, heart worm negative, microchipped, and recently had a dental. She is $250 plus TX sales tax with an approved application: www.recycledpomsbcs.com/adopt Texas law requires that all humane organizations (Rescues, SPCA’s, Humane Societies, State nonprofit, and charitable 501c3 exempt orgs) collect and remit sales and use tax to the Texas Comptroller on their adoption fees. Story
Meet Mystery! This little boy is an 8 year old that weighs about 11 pounds. He’s a handsome boy that happens to have a bit of an attitude. He’s friendly in his core, but he’s not the biggest fan of being picked up. He’ll also get protective of anything you try to take away from him. We’re hoping to find him the perfect pawrent, definitely someone that knows the breed and has experience and patience to help Mystery with some of his ‘issues.’ Someone that can show him some love, and show him he doesn’t need to act out. Teach him the ways of a good boy that’s got his past behind him and has only good times ahead for the rest of his life! He’s not a lap dog, and prefers to get comfy on the floor by his human’s feet. Kids that don’t yet understand a pet like Mystery has boundaries are not for him. We’d consider a family with respective children. He’s fine with other dogs though and does not need to be the only pet. He is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. He is $300 plus TX sales tax with an approved application: www.recycledpomsbcs.com/adopt Texas law requires that all humane organizations (Rescues, SPCA’s, Humane Societies, State nonprofit, and charitable 501c3 exempt orgs) collect and remit sales and use tax to the Texas Comptroller on their adoption fees.
