A portion of Coco's adoption fee has been sponsored by her friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $325.00 will be applied during the contract process Hi, my name is Coco! From the Foster: A typical day with Coco, I am home with Coco all day, with the exception of appointments, errands, etc. After nearly 2 years in our home, Coco has settled in and become a delightful companion dog. She gets along well with, and seems to take cues from, my black lab with a calm temperament. I have modified living arrangements such that the cats are kept separate from her- she seems to have high prey drive and due to limited vision perhaps cant really tell them apart from a squirrel. I had hoped after this long hearing and smelling them, and occasionally seeing them through the gate, she would have become accustomed to them, but alas she is just not a kitty dog. I keep Coco's medication pretty consistent, aiming for 12 hours apart. Coco and Lucy (my resident dog) both sleep on my bed all night. They don't get up until I do, and are great about going right outside and then in to eat and Coco has her oral meds, eye meds, and insulin. She is a champ taking her meds, doesn't resist at all. Throughout the day, Coco and Lucy go between my office and bedroom, taking long naps (they are 9 after all). Coco loves to race outside into the fenced yard with Lucy and search for real or imagined critters. The only thing that deters her is rain! A strange sound or presence will get her raising the alarm, but she settles down quickly and back to her sniffing and taking long luxurious naps in the sun. She may alarm due to her limited vision, but no significant limitations. Coco loves to be where I am, and would rather tag along in the car than be left behind, but thanks to occasional medication and my very mellow black lab, she is feeling more secure and safe as time goes on. She does fine out of the crate in the house, does not chew on unacceptable items, and can wait several hours to go outside. She has never had an accident indoors. Coco loves a long walk, especially a leisurely sniffari. Due to a lot of training, she is not nearly as concerned about other dogs out on walks as she used to be. I try not to get too close for comfort for her, and help her feel safe and confident. SHH can set an adopter up with ongoing training, too. She is pretty stressed, though, if she cant get out of perceived threat area, so instead of dog parks or busy recreation areas, we stick with the familiar neighborhood and a quiet regional nature park. Evenings are super-relaxed. Right after eating their dinner, both pups settle in for reading, watching a movie, or going to bed early. Coco loves to lay on the couch next to a warm body. She isn't a lap dog, not a hugger, but does love to snuggle. Through the course of my veterinary care at The Bond Between it was found that I have diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism, and mature cataracts. Luckily, my foster and the doctors at The Bond Between and BluePearl took great care of me, and I am now ready to find my forever home! I had surgery for my cataracts, and I can see much better now. Future adopters should know that due to my multiple endocrine diseases, I will need to continue to work with a primary veterinarian, as well as an internal medicine specialist (I am currently under the care of Dr. Mazepa at BluePearl.) To manage my diabetes, my adopter will need to administer insulin everyday, as well as monitor my glucose levels with the guidance of a veterinarian. I am also on medication for my hypothyroidism. It is recommended that discuss with my future vet clinic about recommended follows ups and labwork (CBC, chemistry, UA, Fructosamine and T4).

Story
I am Bourbon. I am from Kentucky. From his foster: Introducing Bourbon, a lovable 2-year-old ready to steal your heart! This handsome pup thrives when surrounded by his beloved humans and is guaranteed to shower you with affection every chance he gets. With his friendly disposition, Bourbon eagerly welcomes new friends of all ages, including adults and children alike. Bourbon is not just all charm - he's also a smart cookie! He's already mastered the art of housebreaking and crate training, making him an ideal roommate. Speaking of crates, Bourbon snoozes like a champ in his crate at night, ensuring a peaceful slumber for everyone in the household. Plus, he's a pro on the leash and is quickly learning basic commands, showing off his eagerness to please. He responds extremely well to positive reinforcement and is very motivated by food. However, like any pup, Bourbon has his quirks. He's not a fan of being left alone and may express his displeasure with some initial barking. When left solo, he's been known to test his Houdini skills on his crate, so a sturdy and secure crate or designated safe area is a must. Bourbon finds solace in the company of another dog, so having another pup could greatly alleviate his anxiety when left home alone. Bourbon is still refining some of his manners, particularly when it comes to containing his excitement and keeping all 4 paws on the ground. His enthusiasm may lead to accidentally knocking over young children, which is why a household with older children or adults might be a better fit. Structured exercise, like daily walks, helps Bourbon channel his energy in a positive direction and keeps his exuberance in check. If you're searching for a loyal companion who's equal parts cuddle buddy and adventure enthusiast, look no further than Bourbon. With a heart as big as his personality, he's ready to fill your home with love, laughter, and plenty of tail wags.

Hi, everyone! My name is Chilli! My foster mom says I am practically *perfect* in every way. I am snuggly, playful, affectionate, gorgeous, house trained, and crate trained! I currently live in an apartment and do well with shared walls! I am a strong girl so need someone who handle me during walks. See?! I told you - practically PERFECT! Which leads me to the word "practically" - I do have one small issue. I take time to trust doggy friends. What does this mean? With slow, proper intros (think 1+ week of baby gates, smells, crate and rotate) I become besties with other dogs. I am SUPER appropriate with other dogs, good at reading their signals, and love to play. But until I trust my fellow pups, I am a "freak on a leash" they say... which means no dog parks, no breweries, no doggy playdates for me! So, do I sound like the perfect pooch for you?! I hope so! I can't wait to find my family!

Hi! My name is Sterling and I am from Minnesota. Hello! My name is Sterling. I am five years old and looking for my forever home! Sterling couldn't be more perfect! He is very smart and well behaved. He knows all of the basics (sit, down, wait, drop it) and is crate and potty trained. He is low to moderate energy. Enjoys playing with our other dogs and running in the yard but mostly you'll find him on his dog bed in front of the fire. Occasionally he'll hop up on the couch to enjoy some cuddles and closeness to his people. He is great with all dogs and people. Might not be best around toddlers as he sometimes doesn't know his own strength, especially with his big head. He's been known to bump it into a wall or corner. He really is a sweet smart boy. From our vet center: My name is Sterling, I'm a local Minneapolis pup with some orthopedic medical needs so our friends at MACC reached out to The Bond Between for help. When I was seen at both the MACC vet and TBB Vet Center I was diagnosed with grade 3 on the left and grade 2 on the right MPL's (medical luxating patella) and a full rupture of my CCL (cranial cruciate ligament - which is similar to ACL's in humans) on the left and a partial tear on the right causing an abnormal gait and some lameness; possibly pain however my foster mom says I'm still such a sweet dog despite that. The Bond Between is able to work with an orthopedic surgeon to help me get the surgery I need, but I will be on the lookout for a special adopter to usher me through this recovery period. I am scheduled for my first surgery on the left side on March 28th. 12 weeks of recovery with strict rest and activity restriction. Recheck x-rays will follow each of the surgeries I need to make sure I am healing. Surgery and any medications or rechecks associated with these orthopedic surgeries will be covered by TBB, any other medical care will be the responsibility of my furever family! I can't wait to meet you and settle in! 6 months from now I will be the happiest, sweetest boy around!

Story
Hi my name is Sir Wigglebottom. I am from a local shelter. From his foster family: We call him Wiggles, Wiggy, or just Puppy. He is the sweetest guy around. He loves other dogs and is very curious about cats. He can be a little rambunctious, but settles down easily and would prefer to be on your lap when doing so. He does not really know what personal space means, but we love every second of it. He is crate trained and potty trained! Although he doesn't have an obvious way of letting you know he has to go outside. Most of the time he will just go halfway to the door and just stare at me so if you aren't paying attention you might miss it. We have not had him in his crate for a few weeks now. He does fine left out for most of the day and loves to snuggle in bed at night. He is still very much a puppy as far as playing rough and can be a little mouthy. We have been working on this, but he still has some growing up to do. He does get startled easily. Loud noises and things like boxes and plastic bags tend to make him a little fearful. He will need some help to build up his confidence, but has already come a long way since we first brought him home. He will definitely keep you entertained and make a wonderful addition to your family. From The Bond Between Vet Center: My name is Sir Wigglebottom. I came into rescue with a skin condition called demodex mange. It's caused by a small parasitic mite. It's been a long road to recovery, but I've recovered amazingly and will be neutered 2/13 and will be ready for my furever home after that! Can't wait to meet you!

Story
From Foster: Hello, my name is Lady, and I've had that name ever since my humans made me a part of their family when I was little. For years I lived with human kids and my younger dog sister who looks almost exactly like me. Recently my dog sister and I met another human family - actually, a big group of humans acting like family - when my original human family had some trouble and needed my dog sis and me to stay with someone else for a while. We met our new human family and their two dog siblings - we immediately starting having fun together. Things changed, my dog sister went back with our original family. I'm OK though - I have my new family and new dog friends. We stay in the house during the day; the humans think we sleep all day but I assure you we do fun things together! in the afternoons and evenings we play in the yard, go for walks, and snuggle up on the couch. I don't bark or jump on people, and I walk really well on the leash (I just need to stop and sniff things a lot). I can be home all day without having to be let out (remember, the humans think I'm sleeping all day). I love my toys, especially the plushy ones and chewing on nylabones - I often have a toy in my mouth. I would love to be part of your family - adult humans, small humans, other dog friends, maybe even cats. Meet me and let me show you how special I am!

If you are interested in CLEO or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to katiev.woofriver@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. CLEO is a bite-sized pup overflowing with personality and loving, warm energy. She currently lives with her sibling Clover, also part of Woof River Rescue. These precious little rascals love to wear each other out in the backyard, tumbling and tussling themselves silly until they’re ready to retreat inside for a nap. CLEO is eager for any adventure you have in store, but also knows when to settle down and curl up next to you while you catch up on Love Island. She’s cat- and kid-friendly, making for a smooth introduction to your current family members. CLEO is also house- and crate-trained, so no need to stress when you need to slip out of the house for a few hours. She’ll be waiting to wag her tail for you upon your return. Puppies as adorable as CLEO are rare, so apply today to make her a part of your forever family! To see even more pictures of CLEO copy and paste the following link into your browser: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ln0o55jt420plc6/AABSizs7eYRWVyAXkg-yb236a?dl=0 CLEO is microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations including 2 rounds of both the H3N2 and H3N8 canine influenza vaccinations. Her $490 adoption fee includes her interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the Midwest after she is officially adopted. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our Nashville, Knoxville and some New England adoptions (https://alphadogtransport.com). We also use Pet Express Tupelo (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com/). For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport (https://www.facebook.com/roadhomepettransport). For an adoption application on CLEO click here Please email the completed application to katiev.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Thank you for choosing rescue!
