Story
Dixie is an 8 year old pit bull type gal who came to the shelter as a surrender. She looks like a pittie from her head to the middle of her body and like a bulldog from the middle of her body to her stubby tail. She has had at least one litter of puppies. Dixie is adorably on the chunky side, weighing around 73 pounds. She has been completely vet checked, spayed, and chipped and her fee is $125. Dixie is a good girl. She does need some basic training with a gentle, understanding hand. She does well with kids, but does need to be the only dog in the home. She is a loving lady who is very attentive to her people. She seems to crave affection and security. We are open on Sundays from 2-4 and Tuesdays from 4:30-6. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
Some dogs just seem to have the bad luck cloud hanging over them. Goliath is one of these. He originally came to us in January 2019 as an owner surrender and has been adopted and returned a couple of times since then. He keeps running into problems with breed discrimination, rental situations changing, and human relationship statuses changing. You see, Goliath is one of those "American Bullies", another name for a pit bull type dog who has been mixed with other breeds to be short, stocky, and muscular. Sadly for him, he also received a really bad home ear cropping job so he has very little outside ear tissue. He is around 4 years old now, is fully vetted, and his fee is $125. PLEASE READ:  Goliath will NOT be adopted into a rental situation. He needs an experienced, mature home. He can be pretty protective of his people so a secure environment is important. He doesn't have a ton of physical stamina but does need a little bit of exercise. Older kids are okay as long as they are respectful. Goliath is a volunteer favorite and is a happy boy when he is around his people. We're just not sure how he would do with other dogs. He can be a bit reactive to them at the shelter but that could also be the noisy environment.  We are open on Saturdays from 10-11:30, Sundays from 2-4, and Tuesdays from 4:30-6. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport, behind Spectrum. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.

Story
Dahlia came to the shelter from the city pound when her legal hold time was finished and no one had claimed her. She is a tiny pit bull type dog, commonly known as a "pocket pittie". She weighs around 37 pounds and is compact and muscular. She is a friendly gal and full of enthusiasm. She will need some basic training as she does need to learn to curb said enthusiasm. She will need to be vet checked and spayed before adoption and her fee is $125. We think that Dahlia would be okay with older kids. At this time we don't know how she would do with other dogs and have no way of testing with cats. We are open on Saturdays from 10-11:30, Sundays from 2-4, and Tuesdays from 4:30-6. Story
Hester is an adorable little pittie mix gal who came to the shelter from the city pound. She was picked up running loose and no one claimed her. She has a delightful, bubbly personality and loves to spread it around. She is both playful and cuddly. We do think she would be fine with older kids who are old enough to handle a larger lap dog. We have no way of testing with cats. She is young, so she will need some work on basic obedience training. She has been vet checked, spayed, and chipped. Her fee is $125. Hester loves to play! She has the potential to be an agility dog or Frisbee dog. Her athleticism is incredible. She would make an entertaining and loyal companion. We do think that Hester would benefit from being the only pet in the home. We are open on Saturdays from 10-11:30, Sundays from 2-4, and Tuesdays from 4:30-6. Story
Zero is an 8 year old pittie type guy who came to the shelter from our city impound. He is a very stocky and muscular guy, kind of like a large dog in a medium body. He, unfortunately, has closely cropped ears. Poor guy! Zero is definitely not a dog for just anybody. He will need an experienced person who won't let him walk all over him or her. Zero looks intimidating but his outward appearance masks his soft and squishy nature. He tries to be tough but melts with a good butt rub. Then it's time to climb in someone's lap for a love fest. He is extremely food motivated and can be won over quickly by a big ol' Milkbone. He has been vet checked and neutered and his fee is $125. Zero is his real name. The reasons behind his impound are unfortunate, but have nothing to do with Zero. We don't know how he would do with other animals so we would like to start him out as the only pet in a home. He would do best as the only pet in an ADULT only home (teens are cool). We are open on Saturdays from 10-11:30, Sundays from 2-4, and Tuesdays from 4:30-6. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport, behind Spectrum. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. Story
Sweet Trina! She is an older pit bull type gal who came to the shelter as an owner surrender. Her person ended up homeless and had no way of caring for her. He said that he had gotten Trina from another person a few years ago and that she is 9 years old. She does look like she could be older than that, with her white face. We do think she is hard of hearing and that her sight isn't perfect. She just keeps trucking along, however, and loves her food and attention. Trina will most likely need some serious vet work and we will get started on that as soon as possible. She does have quite a few funky skin growths and appears to have an infection in one eye. Not to worry -- we won't let her go anywhere until she gets a clean bill of health. When all is said and done, her fee will be $125. We are open on Saturdays from 10-11:30, Sundays from 2-4, and Tuesdays from 4:30-6. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport.
