Story
We got Princess in 2013 as a companion for our other dog, Lexi. She is a sweet and gentle dog but is very protective and is wary of new faces. She like to cuddle and will steal kisses if you are not paying attention. I am looking for a home with a owner who has time to interact with her regularly. She is part of a bonded pair with her older sister.

Story
jreyn056@yahoo.com - fostered by DNF Meet MK AKA Max.  Max is a bundle of Blue Heeler energy! He is just over 1 and around 35 lbs. He knows his name, is house trained, and plays fetch like a champ. Max walks well on a leash and is high energy. He is extremely  people oriented and loves to be around his family. Max should probably be in a home with older kids only (8+) as his boundless energy might cause him to knock small ones down unintentionally. He would definitely chase cats so please no cats in the adoptive home. He would be best in a very active family who can walk him and exercise him regularly, and he should have a fenced yard . If you understand the breed you know they want to work hard, play hard, and herd - and are very loyal family members.    The adoption fee of 300  will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. Although we do the best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can make no guarantee. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! If you are interested in adopting/meeting , please visit our website at www.starfishanimalrescue.com or you may complete the online adoption application on our Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/starfishanimalrescue/app/134425496630143/?ref=page_internal Once you complete and submit your dog adoption application we will set up an appointment to meet this pup! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Riley is a 4 year old pup. Our best guess is that he is a pointer/cattle dog/hound mix. He is all hunting/working dog. He needs to be kept busy. He would love a home that would give him a job. He did great with backpack training. I think he may also do well in dog sports like agility, nose work, etc. He is a fence jumper, so Riley cannot be trusted alone in a fenced in yard. He must be monitored whenever he is outside. We keep a 30 foot leash on him whenever he is outside. He has only gone over my fence once. The fence jumping is manageable as long as you are watchful. Riley loves to go for walks. He is very strong and does have a tendency to pull. We have used a gentle leader and easy walk harness with him. He needs a firm hand and reminders that he is not in charge. Weather and schedule permitting we try for a daily walk. Mostly we walk around our neighborhood, but we do enjoy going out and exploring area forest preserves. Riley does get excited/anxious in the car. He is constantly on the lookout for something. He will whine, cry, bark, and pace. Sometimes opening a window helps. Riley loves to play. He has a bin full of toys that he loves to empty. He does tend to kill toys and pull out the stuffing. He doesn’t mind playing with unstuffed toys so we hang onto them until they are completely shredded. He loves fetching balls and frisbees in the back yard. He loves loud annoying squeaky toys. If no one is playing with him he will entertain himself. He has been known to toss toys pretty far. Riley loves kids, but would probably do best in a home without any other animals. His prey drive is so high I am afraid he would hunt cats, small animals, and birds. He is very hit and miss with other dogs. He lives with two female dogs and overall does well with them. He does have resource guarding with other dogs (we have never had any problems with resource guarding with people). Mostly he is good with his foster sisters, but every once in awhile gets possessive and snaps. We are not saying Riley cannot go to a home with another dog, but we just have to do careful screening to make sure he will get along and the new owner will have to be watchful of potential problems (like food and toys). He can definitely only go to a house with female dogs, no males. Riley can be aloof when first meeting people. He is not the dog to run up to strangers at events. He takes awhile to open up. Once he does, however, he is a goofy boy. He just needs that chance to get comfortable. Riley is a great house dog. He is potty trained, crate trained, and does not destroy household items. He is a great watchdog. He loves looking out the window, although the inner hound dog does sometimes come out, so apartment dwelling may not be for him. He knows how to sit, lay down, stay and wait for his meal, and sit pretty. He is very food motivated which should help with training. Although he does have quite the stubborn streak, especially when he is on the hunt. Riley is a great dog, but definitely has his quirks. If you are willing to deal with those quirks you will get a great, loyal companion. If you would like to meet this dog please call Teri at 630-897-7454. The adoption fee is $225. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - free 30 days of pet insurance (requires activation) - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive (when necessary) - deworming

Story
Hello! My name is Cookie and I am a 4 year young cattle dog. Do you see my markings? Everyone tells me I am a beautiful girl. I was adopted by a nice couple in Puerto Rico. (yes, you could say I understand Spanish too). Anyway, they had this other dog and he was a bully to me. When the family moved back to Illinois they brought me to Aurora Animal Control. I was the favorite girl at the ACC because I love all people and love affection. I just also love my toys and they used to play "tug" which was my favorite game. I am a typical herding gal so maybe no little kids as I am full of energy. My foster mom tells me that I am very smart and that I take direction very well. I just need structure in my life. Don't we all? My foster mom recommends a home with a fenced in yard where I can run, and run, and run. You see, I am a herding dog and that is what we do! we run and chase the cattle. While at my foster mom's she noticed that I have a depth perception deficiency. I get startled easily because sometimes I can't tell how far you are from me. Because of that my forever home will be quiet with older kids and calm dogs. I'm not a mean girl just get startled. Can we meet? Do you like beautiful girl dogs? Are you active and like to have an active girl in your life? Are you patient and are willing to show me structure and consistency? If so, I am your gal. I promise that I will be by your side all the time. We will have some fun running and going for long walks. I'll show you how fast I can run and maybe I will also show you how to play tug with me. I'll be patiently waiting for your call. To meet Cookie please complete an adoption application at www.treasuredanimalrescueinc.org Cookie is fostered in Romeoville, IL We cannot adopt out of the state of IL

Story
This girl is just stunning!! Luna's markings and shiny coat makes you do a double take She is a heeler mix approximately 2.5 years old. She is definitely a player. She gets along with other dogs and would do better with older children with all her excitement. She just loves being with her person. She needs a family that will continue to work on her confidence. She is still very young and hasn't had alot off direction, she is a smart girl and learns quickly she would do well with someone that will give her structure, expectations, and something to do to work her mind. She loves to play fetch. Initially she is unsure of the crate, each day she is settling. Luna has experienced some anxiety when left alone and crated so we are requiring another dog in the household as she is fine going in the crate. Her current foster home has a dog in the home and she does really good with the companion. She is Housebroken and crate trained. She is looking for her forever home. If interested in meeting Luna please go to our website and fill out our application. Website: www.atailof4paws.org
