Sammy had a rough start to life he was found a slow part with all his litter mates and they all had parvo. We adopted Sammy when he barely old enough to be taken we've had him for 3 years and years been a great loving family pet to me and my wife and older children, However no matter what training we go to (petco: all trainings), we can not break his alpha dog mentality. He is a great watchdog and loves to run. We believe That Our home environment is just not for him. He is going to need someone who be patient because hes wary around new people, And does not like loud noises. He is crate trained knows his commands but can be stubborn.

He was given to a woman in a rural MO town as a puppy and she never provided any vet care for him. He lived outside and somehow escaped his yard and was hit by a car. He landed in the shelter and was injured, after an xray was done we were contacted to see if we could help. We then found out that he also had heartworms! So as Rocky has spent the last few months healing a fracture he has also been battling heartworms. He is now healthy and ready to find a home that will love him and care for him forever! He needs a fenced yard. Rocky joined a foster home last weekend so we are hoping to have more details on his personality soon! Rocky has been neutered, vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, wormed and microchipped. If you are interested in adopting me, please complete the adoption application located at www.furrykidsrefuge.org/adoptadog and a dedicated volunteer will get back to you as soon as possible. Furry Kids' Refuge is in need of good quality dog and puppy food with meat as the first ingredient. You can drop off donations at our weekly adoption events at the Lee's Summit Petco (1860 NW Chipman Road, Lee's Summit, MO), Saturdays only from Noon to 4:00 p.m. Donations are tax deductible as allowed by law. Charlie is an active almost 6(ish) year old dog who loves everyone he meets! We got him from my husband's father about 4 years ago and feel it is time for him to find a forever home with a family who does not have to move so often (military) and has more time to exercise him everyday. He is great with kids (we have 2 toddlers) and other dogs and definitely loves to run. We've been told that charlie is an Australian shepherd-Border Collie mix, but he looks like he may have some lab in him as well, since he has shorter hair. He is a very sweet 60lb lap dog and will make a great addition to an active family!
