Houston, TX area: “Lola” is in a kennel waiting for a HOME or FOSTER ! This precious girl was rescued by and FPA Volunteer from a high kill facility. She is a 2-3 year old Kelpie / Shepherd mix. She is spayed, current on vaccines and micro-chipped. Lola had an old eye injury so eyesight in that eye isn’t 100%, but it doesn't stop her from chasing tennis balls. This gorgeous girl loves to run and would make a good running companion. She is super sweet and learns quickly. No cats for Lola. Suzy - Kelpie/Husky Mix - Female - 3 Years - www.twyla.org If you'd like to know more about this dog please visit www.twyla.org Meet Suzy: This uniquely gorgeous Kelpie mix (we think) was found as a stray and acclimatized to her fosters house in record time: From being afraid to go outside and fearful in the car to confident and playful and no fear of car rides! It seems that she may have been an outside dog previously, but now that she knows she'll be allowed back indoors, she loves exploring the fosters backyard and playing with their smaller dog. She's friendly and curious with the cats, only barks occasionally, and has bonded with her foster family. Suzy really is the perfect dog. She sleeps and hangs out with the family during the day but is ready to play when they are. She is not hyper but does need a home where someone will be there most of the time as she still occasionally will chew a shoe or other random item. The vet estimates her age to be about 3 yrs, she's heartworm negative and very healthy. She weighs 54 pounds and is full-grown at this point. She is calm during thunderstorms although she barks at the vacuum! She loves going to Starbucks and enjoying a Puppuccino and riding around town in the back seat. The perfect home for her would have another friendly dog (any size or sex), children over the age of 7 or 8, and be moderately active. Suzie is shy, but still a total sweetheart! She loves to be pet and takes it as a comfort. She also enjoys treats. The loudness and chaos of shelter life is a lot for any dog, and Suzie seems to be a sensitive soul. She gets overwhelmed and huddles in the back corner of her kennel when you first go and visit her, but she’s definitely open to being pet! She’s just unsure of herself. She relaxes more when she’s outside of her kennel where it’s a bit quieter. Suzie doesn’t seem to have much experience on a leash. They confuse her and she doesn’t know what she’s supposed to do. She sort of locks up at first, but given time and patience she will walk on it a little in the peace and quiet of a play yard. For now her preferred method of travel is being picked up and carried – especially if you wrap her in a snuggly blanket first. Suzie’s nerves don’t allow her to run and play much. She prefers to stay mostly in one spot and look around at what’s happening around her. Once she’s surveyed the scene and okayed it she’ll walk around a little bit. She still seems to have a lower energy level.
