Story
Meet Wintry! She is a Beagle mix and we think she is about 2 years old. Wintry came to Labs and More pregnant where she delivered her adorable puppies and was a good little mama to them. Her pups have been adopted and Wintry is ready for a forever home of her own. Wintry is a special girl who survived Distemper. She twitches, bobs her head as if dancing to a music only she can hear, and can be a little uncoordinated at times. It doesn't slow her down too much and she can keep up with her people just fine. In spite of her rough beginnings, this little girl's tail is always wagging and she has a positive, happy attitude about almost everything. Wintry is a lower energy girl. She enjoys a daily stroll around the neighborhood followed by lots of cuddle time. Wintry loves people, bonds easily and gets very attached. Little children make her a bit uncomfortable so Winnie would prefer a quiet, adult only home where she can be the center of attention. This girl is all about her humans and loves to give you big hugs when you get home. She is way more interested in people than other dogs and can be a bit of a diva when it comes to dogs all up in her personal space. She likes all the attention for herself and will need to be the only dog in her forever home. She is not interested in playing with other dogs and is not a dog park kind of girl. She does get along with cats, ignoring them. Wintry is house trained, crate trained and has good house manners. She doesn't like to be left home alone long and will need a family where someone is home more often than not. She would love someone who works from home or can take her to work with them! True to her Beagle breed, Wintry loves food and is very treat motivated. She knows &#194&#147sit&#194&#148, &#194&#147shake&#194&#148, and she has great recall. If you are interested in meeting Wintry and giving her a home for the holidays, please submit an adoption application on our website. This information is as up to date and accurate as possible for the dog in its current environment. All dogs and puppies will need time and training to adjust to their new surroundings and to learn the rules of their new home. If you are interested in meeting one of our dogs, the first step is to complete the Adoption Form on our website at www.labsandmore.org and take some time to review our adoption process. Your adoption includes the spay or neuter, current vaccinations, microchip, and other services provided while in our care. The safety and health of our puppies is priority one, so we only allow approved applicants to meet and handle puppies. Please understand everything we do is for the dogs and conducted by our kind and generous volunteers. We rely solely on donations, and we do not profit from a dog's adoption. Labs and More is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that operates on donations and time dedicated to this cause by volunteers. Your adoption will save the life of future dogs in need. Labs and More makes no guarantees regarding the behavior, breed, or age of the dogs in our care. Although we strive to provide necessary medical care to dogs in our care, we cannot predict future or current medical needs whether they were symptomatic or not at the time of adoption.Thank you for looking to Adopt a Labrador Retriever or other Mixed Breed Dog from California Labradors Retrievers and More Rescue. Story
Jake IS AVAILALBE (updated 04-05-2020).To meet any of our dogs you must first complete our online adoption application on our website. For more information and the adoption application for Jake, please visit our website belowhttp://www.coastalgsr.org/dog_profile.php?ID=21482&name=JakeJake came to Coastal and was feral, because he was used as a breeding dog and wasn&#39t socialized with people at all. His prior owners kept him in the bathroom and when they decided to move they didn&#39t include him in their plans. Understandably, when we got him he wanted absolutely nothing to do with people, but he&#39s come around with the people he sees every day and is phenomenal with other dogs. We&#39re still working on leashing him and taking him for walks- when things go around his neck he gets very upset and starts alligator rolling. So, as of now, he&#39s in a doggy daycare setting where he can be with other dogs, but has only befriended a handful of people. With time and some patience, Jake, who is around 3 years old, will be a great addition to a low traffic household. The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.

Story
Have you met sweet Poncho? Poncho is 10 years old and was rescued from Wishing Well Ranch. He was kenneled with another dog and had one of the biggest runs at the ranch. They have records for his care that go back to 2009, so he had lived there his whole life. The Ranch did dental surgery in 2015 and he had struggles with bladder stones previously. Our current exam showed that he has tiny bladder stones and we did dental surgery to remove his last infected canine. We started him on prescription food to help dissolve his bladder stones, but wouldn't you know it, after just two months of being a Frosted Face, some of those stones decided to drop into his urethra and cause a blockage. We rushed him into surgery to get those nasty stones out. After his dental, he is all gums now, and it's a wonder how he holds that tongue in his mouth. It certainly doesn't stop him from eating, he's a foodie! Poncho will approach you before any of the other dogs in the yard and check your pockets for food. He is a lap sitter and loves having his photo taken. Poncho wants to go out on the town, live with kids or adults who think he's their child, and he promises to be low maintenance so that he can even live in an apartment setting too! He just wants to be included! Poncho is currently on a two-week Frosted Fling. Here's what we've learned so far from his Fling Family: "Poncho is house trained! We had a few accidents and incidences of marking when Poncho first arrived, but after the first few days we've been accident free! Now that he has had his bladder stones removed, he has no problems relieving on schedule. I've left him home alone and spied on him using a camera. He has no separation anxiety and quickly settles down in the dog bed when he realizes that I've left. Poncho is the sweetest, easiest dog! He gets along with everybody - humans and dogs alike! He is ready for his forever home!" Story
Meet Tiki! Tiki is 12 years old and was rescued from Wishing Well Ranch. The Ranch has records for her dating back to 2008 which means she lived her whole life at WWR. ...and she acts like it. Tiki prefers not to be approached. She is not fast and tiny like some of the other poorly socialized Ranch dogs, but once you leash her, she stands in her tracks and shakes, awkwardly trying to duck away from you as your natural instinct is to pet her and tell her "it's okay." She had an exam, diagnostics and dental surgery last week at College Animal Hospital, only needing a few teeth extracted, and endured a Valentine's date with volunteers. She has a favorite bed in the back of the littles yard where she loiters with other Wishing Well dogs all day. They let other Frosted friends join, but disperse when volunteers approach. Even when it was raining last week, we left the door to the outside open a crack so everyone could run out to go potty if they needed to, but Tiki and her friends all huddled in and around their trusted bed and neighboring dog house. We finally had to leash them to bring them in and shut the door so they would not try to sit outside in bad weather and catch a cold! Her new family will have to be patient and win her heart on her own terms. She might even benefit from a confident, well-balanced resident dog.  Tiki is currently on a two-week Frosted Fling. By day four, her fling family had already seen progress in Tiki's comfort level with them and shared several breakthroughs: 1) No more corralling to put the leash on - we have an understanding now - she goes into her crate when she hears me getting out the leash and I put the leash on 2) She doesn’t mind us being next to her when she eats - takes treat that I throw to her 3) She comes and lays down next to us 4) Tiki and our dog are becoming friends Day 10 update:  "We are making progress!  Tiki is starting to seek us out - be it in the living room while we are playing games or in the yard while we are working.  I am so proud of this little girl. I can leash her outside her crate now and she doesn’t make a fuss when we are taking the leash off - we actually often get quite a few pets in before she slowly walks away.  Tiki has free roam of the house day and night. She only (and rarely) has accidents when she is scared. Right before putting in the leash for example. Otherwise she is potty trained. S o far so good!" Check back soon to see what's next for Tiki!
