Story
Calling all BEAGLE fans! Your new girl has arrived and it’s ME! My name is Payton and my foster Mom likes to sing my praises, telling everyone how sweet and patient a pup I am. She says I am very loyal and happy to let you know, with a good bark, if there is an activity going on outside, especially if I am not a part of it! I am totally enjoying have 2 human foster brothers (12&11) and a Chiweenie foster brother to pal around with and stay busy. I am working on learning how to walk a leash without pulling and I am proud to say I have made great strides in the last week. I am the complete package! Housebroken, crate trained, spayed, gets along with kids and dogs and LOVES to walk! What more could you ask for! Wait! Another added bonus it that I have a head and ears that are as soft as chinchilla fur that makes them perfect for petting! If you would be interested in meeting me, please send an email or fill out a pre adoption application and a CDR volunteer will get back to you just as quick as they can! Tail wags and kisses-Payton

Story
UPDATE: I have been at the shelter for 5 months and am just beginning to feel a little more comfortable. I will need a very patient and loving person in a quiet home to be able to become a happy dog. Original message: Luckily someone found us before it was too late. I am one of the animals in an abuse case where we were not being taken care of. We had no love and no food. I am a very gentle soul but a little shy and will need a kind person that will show me what love is all about. How about you? If you would like to meet me, PLEASE FILL OUT THE APPLICATION on the website of www.puppiesthatneedlove.com under How To Adopt. Thank you.

Story
If you are interested in JOEY or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to kappy.woofriver@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. JOEY is one of the calmest, kindest souls we have ever had in our program. He is intelligent, compassionate and affectionate. He is very attentive and is beyond content sitting at your feet and looking endlessly lovingly into your eyes while you pet him. He is a laid back kind of fellow who enjoys tranquil walks around the neighborhood or relaxing days cuddling on the couch. In fact, his favorite thing is being curled up near his foster mom while being loved on and getting his ears rubbed. He wants to go anywhere you do and is a precious waggy-tailed shadow. When he is not with his foster mom, he can usually be found on one of his two dog beds, curled up and dreaming peacefully. He is funny about the dog beds and a lot of times paws at them for a while to get them in just the right position, which sometimes is upside down. He also enjoys sunbathing outside on a nice day and squints at the sun with his nose in the air to sniff the breeze. He is immediately personable with everyone he meets. He will trot right up to a new person and sit in front of them for some rubbins. He never gets too excited, so he provides a calm and sweet reception for visitors. He is also very fond of dogs, but doesn’t really get wild with his play. He follows along with the dogs he shares a foster home with and is very social. JOEY is wonderful with kitties and even makes ones wary of dogs comfortable. He currently shares his foster home with a puppy, a senior dog and 2 cats. This guy is one of those rare gentle souls that only some people are lucky enough to meet in their lifetime. He is the perfect dog to accompany you to all your favorite places. He has impeccable manners, is infinitely patient and never jumps up on anyone. Basically, he is always a delight to be around. He is a dream on a leash and calmly walks with you without pulling. He is loyal as the day is long and incredibly eager to please. Unlike most beagles, this guy rarely makes a peep, but when he does, his little scratchy beagle howl is super cute and is definitely a muffled version. It’s a tiny, polite hello to his four-legged friends in the neighborhood. He is a perfect gentleman in the house, has never had an accident and is so trustworthy that his foster mom leaves him free in the house when she is not home. JOEY is a true gem who will make his forever family’s dreams come true. To see even more pictures of JOEY copy and paste the following link into your browser: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/q0d5tbcqxf0n8tu/AAAd_dcu1jVwo4zRlNSvWURXa?dl=0 JOEY is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on all vaccinations including 2 rounds of both the H3N2 and H3N8 canine influenza vaccinations. His $490 adoption fee includes his interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the Midwest after he is officially adopted. For an adoption application on JOEY click here Please email the completed application to kappy.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our Nashville, Knoxville and some New England adoptions (https://alphadogtransport.com). We also use Pet Express Tupelo (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com/). For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport (https://www.facebook.com/roadhomepettransport). Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! FAST FACTS:*5 Years Old - Medium Size*Active and Affectionate Personality*Loves Fetching Balls, Running, and Cuddling*Older Children (10+ Years Old)*Only Pet*Potty Trained*Fenced Yard RequiredBIO:Awooooo! My name is Little Louise (Lilly for short), and I am an affectionate an active beagle mix who would love to be your devoted best furry friend. Like many beagles, I am very attached to my people and will always greet you with excitement when you come home from work or errands. Try not to smile when my tail wags and ears flop while I ask for hugs and pets upon your return, I dare you! I would do best as your one and only pet in the house: I do well with other dogs at doggie daycare, but at home I am an attention hog and can get jealous of other pets when they have your focus. I would also prefer any children be on the older side (10+ years old) just because I am an excitable girlie and wouldn't want to accidentally hurt one of my tiny human siblings when I am being silly. I have a variety of interests including going for walkies to sniff and explore, cuddling with my family (my favorite spot is under the covers near your feetsies to help keep them warm at night!), and most especially running zoomies around the yard and chasing thrown balls or sticks. My ideal forever home will have a fenced yard so we can play fetch together every day - doesn't that sound like living the dream? You can also call me little miss smartypants, too: I am already potty trained and know commands including sit, down, and shake. In pretty typical beagle fashion, sometimes I am too smart for my own good and can find creative ways to try and escape. For example, I know how to open doors that have lever handles instead of knobs. Crazy smart, right!? So I will thrive with attentive humans who will keep an eye on me and keep me out of trouble. In return for your protection and love, I can promise a lifetime of laughs, amazing snuggles, and devotion. I hope you fill out an adoption application soon because I am ready to settle into your home and heart!Love,Little LouiseIf you'd like to adopt this dog, please get started by filling out a complete application (incomplete submissions cannot be sent.) Please note that while we take time to learn as much as we can about each dog in our care as possible, our bios are written from current observations. Though we do our best to share as much information as possible about each dog we care for, we are unable to make any guarantees on the future health or temperament of your adopted dog. Most dogs in our care come with unknown pre-rescue history, and information pertaining to breed and age are often educated guesses.

Story
I had acquired Ralphie due to a death in my family. He is a very good loving dog. He was beaten as a puppy and taken out of a home, and placed in a shelter with further problems. My deceased ex adopted him, had him for a couple years up until his death. I have become attached to Ralphie so I need him to have a loving, safe home. He deserves nothing less. Unfortunately, I am working 2 jobs, have little time to spend with him, and may possibly be moving as well. He deserves to have an owner that could play with him, and give him the love and attention that he needs and deserves. Due to his injuries as a puppy, he is on medication to prevent seizures, and he LOVES when I wrap his medication in something yummy. He has never bit anyone, if anything he loves laying next to you, and is very gentle and well mannered. I would love to know he is in a LOVING home where he can get the care, attention, and love that he deserves. If my situation was different, I would absolutely be keeping him.
