UPDATE: I have been at the shelter for 5 months and am just beginning to feel a little more comfortable. I will need a very patient and loving person in a quiet home to be able to become a happy dog. Original message: Luckily someone found us before it was too late. I am one of the animals in an abuse case where we were not being taken care of. We had no love and no food. Story
I had acquired Ralphie due to a death in my family. He is a very good loving dog. He was beaten as a puppy and taken out of a home, and placed in a shelter with further problems. My deceased ex adopted him, had him for a couple years up until his death. I have become attached to Ralphie so I need him to have a loving, safe home. He deserves nothing less. Unfortunately, I am working 2 jobs, have little time to spend with him, and may possibly be moving as well. He deserves to have an owner that could play with him, and give him the love and attention that he needs and deserves. Due to his injuries as a puppy, he is on medication to prevent seizures, and he LOVES when I wrap his medication in something yummy. He has never bit anyone, if anything he loves laying next to you, and is very gentle and well mannered. I would love to know he is in a LOVING home where he can get the care, attention, and love that he deserves. If my situation was different, I would absolutely be keeping him.

Story
Hi I'm Stella. I'm a 7 yr old female Beagle. I am a very petite girl at only 12 lbs. I came to Rover Rescue from an Indiana shelter. I was dropped off with my sister by a breeder. I was definitely bred throughout my life. I lived my life outside and was not treated very well which does explain some of my fears. I will need a lot of patience to allow me to gain some confidence. I will also need someone who is home with me as I do have separation anxiety. Someone who works from home or is retired would be ideal. We are working on my potty training but since spending 7 yrs outside I am moving slowly with training and will need consistency with keeping up on it. I do have accidents in the house and in my crate at times. When I came to Rover Rescue, my poor teeth were in bad shape and I had a bad ear infection. I was spayed, my teeth were cleaned, and I got my ears cleaned with some medicine. I am feeling wonderful! The first few days I was so quiet in my foster home. I mostly hid in the corner of the couch. After some time being here, I am continuing to stay fairly quiet but have come out more for attention. I also discovered my voice. My foster mom has now started to hear I actually do have a bark in me. I have let out some beagle barks in the backyard, but mostly in hopes to catch my fur friends as we play chase in the backyard. My foster mom has also heard me bark at night for which seems like no reason. I live with other fur babies which I love their companionship. My foster mom thinks they have helped me come out of my shell. I am a submissive girl, but will give a jump and bark at the dogs if I feel they are in my space. I have let out an occasion growl. I recently had a puppy friend visit for the week who I did pretty well with. We chased each other around the house and wrestled on the couch. I do love being pet but I tend to cower at first. I do really love curling up on the couch by my foster mom and I sleep so soundly. I am a very sweet girl. I would do best in a quieter home where someone is home a lot. I do get a bit frightened with a lot going on. I also would do best with a dog companion to keep me company when my humans leave the house. A submissive fur friend would be best. I do have some anxiety and my foster mom is seeing some behaviors due to it. Most of my behaviors are like what you'd expect of a puppy. Potty training, chewing and I do like to grab random things and put things in my bed. I will require a patient and loving person who understands things may take time with me. Duncan is a 2-4 year old beagle mix. He weighs 42 pounds. He is intelligent, inquisitive, gentle, calm and laid back. He is very quiet and seldom barks. He loves attention, being petted and full body rubs, but he is not a cuddler or lap dog. He's not much of a player; he just loves to do his own thing. He loves his walks, 2-3 hours or more daily. There is no aggression or guarding in this dog. He has very little interest in toys or any type of play activities. He is a wonderful, loving, appreciative, but not overly affectionate dog. Calling all BEAGLE fans! Your new girl has arrived and it’s ME! My name is Payton and my foster Mom likes to sing my praises, telling everyone how sweet and patient a pup I am. She says I am very loyal and happy to let you know, with a good bark, if there is an activity going on outside, especially if I am not a part of it! I am totally enjoying have 2 human foster brothers (12&11) and a Chiweenie foster brother to pal around with and stay busy. I am working on learning how to walk a leash without pulling and I am proud to say I have made great strides in the last week. I am the complete package! Housebroken, crate trained, spayed, gets along with kids and dogs and LOVES to walk! What more could you ask for! Wait! Another added bonus it that I have a head and ears that are as soft as chinchilla fur that makes them perfect for petting! This gorgeous girl was left tied up on one of the rescues cars. All that was left with her was a note that she was a stray that showed up while the people were moving and they couldn't keep her. We don't know any more of her back story but it seems as if this girl has been in transition for quite some time. We feel like the best-fit home for Rose Mary might be one that can be a calm oasis for her. No small children, perhaps only one other dog and people who can help her forget all the past and become the loving dog we see in her. She is mostly gentle and wants to please but she takes a bit of time to warm up to you. She simply just needs humans that will give her a chance and be patient and she will reward them with her heart. For more information write BakerBridgeRescue@aol.com and ask for an application.
