Story
Hi! My name is Posie, and I need your help! I am about five years old and weigh around 30 pounds. I am a real sweetheart according to foster mom, and love people, stuffed animals, chasing squirrels and chipmunks, sleeping under the covers with you, and snuggling with my head on your lap. And snow! I love a good snowball! Oh yeah, and being a Beagle and all, I do love my treats too! Foster mom’s granddaughter, who is 4 years old, comes to visit often, and I just adore her and do so well with her. I am also housetrained; another big plus! So, why do I need your help? Well, I do have some work to do. Midwest BREW is not sure about my past (I was picked up as a stray), but whatever it was left me with some severe separation anxiety. I do not do well in a crate at all, and fight and chew until I can escape or tear the crate apart. In fact, my teeth were worn down and in terrible shape from trying to escape being crated. They have been fixed up now, but I still can’t stand to be left alone. If I am not crated, I panic, tear things up, and have a horrible time until my people come home. Foster Mom is working hard to help me with this: she is working with a behaviorist, and has found a crate that is escape proof yet still comfortable, for those times when you have to leave me. I don’t like it, but it is escape proof and I can’t hurt myself while in it. This crate will go with me to my new home! Because my anxiety is severe though, I will need a family where someone is home most of the time, or can take me to work with them. I am looking for a home with the time and patience to help me work through this awful anxiety. I am also a bit of an escape artist, and though I like walks, I can twist, jiggle, shake, and back out of almost any harness. Foster Mom has found one that works for me, and she says long walks and lots of exercise will really help me. I am a strong puller, but I can learn to do better with some practice! I get along great with the male dog that lives here, but I am not a fan of female dogs. I would be perfectly happy being an only dog; that way I get ALL the attention! And boy, do I love that attention. You are welcome to sit with me for hours and scratch my ears, rub my belly and give me kisses. To sum it all up, if you need a constant companion, who promises to adore you, I’m the girl for you! If you have some time and patience to work through separation anxiety with me, I’m the girl for you! If you want to laugh every day with my play time including critter chasing, snowball catching, and mad dashes with stuffed toys, I’m the girl for you! If you like the silky softness of petting Beagle ears, I’m the girl for you! I just need the right home, and I’m sure you are out there! Please contact Midwest BREW to find out more about me. NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
My name is Cody and I am a beagle/basset mix. I was found by a shelter as a stray along with two female dogs that were deceased. I was scared, alone, underweight, and in urgent need of dental care. They took me to a shelter where I stayed for several weeks and then, I moved into a foster home and he adopted me. I was very happy for a while but then my owner got sick and he had to give me up to the shelter. I was very sad, but then Midwest BREW showed up and they took me into their program. My previous owner was feeding me a little too much so I have a few pounds to lose. My foster mom is working hard to help me lose the extra weight. She thinks I didn’t have much opportunity to play before so now I’m having a great time learning what toys, friends, and family are. I am having so much fun being a playful puppy and being loved on. I am finally enjoying as an adult all I didn’t have as a puppy. Sometimes I steal shoes, slippers, socks, towels and take them outside. My foster mom says I need to stop doing that but it’s so much fun! I also like playing chase with the other dogs here. I get along great with them and I bark when I get too excited. My dream home would have a doggy sibling that likes to play and a yard to run. I love being outside! In fact being outside is my second favorite thing after being with my humans, either lying next to you or at your feet. I am housebroken with a doggy door and I am an excellent car rider. I also walk well on a leash. I sleep on a dog bed right next to my humans but I would very much love to sleep with them in the big bed! I am somewhat timid when I first meet you but I warm up quickly. I’m skittish so I need a little time to make sure you’re okay and then I will come to you slowly. I am looking for my furever family. I need someone willing to continue helping me with my diet to get me back to a healthy weight so I can live long and happily ever after. It has been an emotional rollercoaster to be displaced several times in such a short time. My new family needs to understand my fear of new people and continue to show me love and security. If you think you can be my forever true family, please contact Midwest BREW and ask about Cody! NOTE: Dog may be located in any of our six volunteer states (WI, IL, IN, OH, PA, MI).

Story
Hi World! My name is Valerie! I am a teeny tiny 6 year old beagle looking for my forever family to love and love me. I wouldn’t say that I’m shy but right now, I’m a bit tentative. I’m getting to like being picked up and cuddled. At first, I wasn’t sure WHAT was gonna happen! But I’m figuring out that hugs mean love and I like that a lot. I know that my face looks older but I am still a puppy inside. My foster mom calls me a Scamp – SHRIMP SCAMPI! One of my new hobbies is relocating clothes from the hamper around the house. I like pulling blankets off my foster brother and sister beagles when they are napping underneath them. They are not amused but I am! My hind legs aren’t 100%, but I get around fine. And the Vet says that when I build up some muscle on them, I’ll move even better. I had puppies way too young and that has left me with some minor hip issues. I’m not 100% house broken but I am getting there. My foster mom says that I am very smart and brave! I figured out how to use the doggie door in record time! I know I have some things to work on, but I have lots of love to give. I just need my forever lap to cuddle on! Please call my foster mom and hear my story and think about letting me be YOUR dog. I need a family to call my own and I promise to love you all if you have the patience to help me be the dog I know that I can be! Legal Disclaimer / Waiver: BUBBA'S SUCCESSFUL ADOPTER does NOT live in an apartment or have children who can't defend themselves against an occasionally aggressive dog! Instead, they live in a home with property (large yard, woods, farm, etc) where he can run and roam. He comes from hunting stock and doesn't like to be hugged or held. The act of applying to adopt Bubba constitutes adopter's total understanding of Bubba's temperament and adopter's agreement to hold current owner harmless of any legal / non-legal action(s) taken because of Bubba's actions during and POST adoption process. DOB: 12/22/14 Aggressive towards most dogs but not my mom's Chihuahua. He has not been around children very much. I wouldn't trust him with kids. He loves running and the water so I'm hoping to give him to someone who can let him run etc. He would be a great dog for a hunter, woodsman, or some one who has land to let him roam.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Lottie is sweet, house trained, 2 yr old beagle. She is fearful of new things and people (especially men) when she first encounters them. She enjoys playing with the dogs in her foster home. Lottie still likes to chew some. She is looking for the right mix of calm and energy from a family who will meet her needs. She would like a female caregiver (she would love a family of just women) who will work with her on her fears and meet her at her comfort level. All family members need to be willing to care for her as this will help her get over her fears. Lottie also needs another dog -friendly dog that will tolerate her oral play (a bit rough at times) and is not a resource guarder. She is also looking a stable home that isn’t too busy with lots people coming and going but also for family that is active enough to take her a daily walks and maybe even run a bit.    She does well in her crate even though she is not fond of it. She enjoys most sleeping with her family members at night.    Lottie is small girl just under 20 lbs and very agile. She needs a fenced in yard because she loves being outside and another doggie friend. She is currently in a foster home in Ann Arbor and will need multiple meet and greets prior to adoption to make the transition less fearful for her. If you are interested, please fill out an application so my foster mom can tell you more about me.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Cookie has been at the Mikey & Me kennels for the past year and he is finally ready to find his forever companion and home.   Cookie is about 4 years old, he weighs about 50 pounds, he has a loyal and loving personality, and he is neutered and up to date on all vet care. Cookie came to us with a fear of meeting new people and we now know that this was a result of never being trained or shown what acceptable behavior looks like. We tried, over time, to help him learn not to be afraid but we could never get past him wanting to lunge up in a self-protective manner when he encountered a person he had never met. Cookie loves his toys and he takes his food and treats very gently. In an effort to help Cookie further, we raised funds last summer (thanks to so many of you that contributed) to put him through an extensive, two week, in-house training program with Off Leash K9 Training in Lansing. Cookie responded very well to his trainer and he completed his training on December 7th. Since that time, I have had Cookie meet quite a few new people without incident and he is continuing his training regimen under our care. We are looking to place Cookie with a single person or couple that is looking for a well trained dog and that will continue working with him so he will be successful in his new home. When we locate the right situation for Cookie, I will provide his person with a complete training lesson along with his training equipment. We also have a lifetime guarantee through Off Leash K9 training and his adopter would be able to attend a training refresher there, if needed. Thank you for considering Cookie; please share his story if you can to help us find his forever home. He is such a sweet and loyal dog and he so very much deserves to be in a loving home and out of the kennel environment.   Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to  Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $69.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.  Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
