Story
Hi!! My name is Angus, I'm a year old husky mix, looking for a loving family that isn't hung up on a pure bred husky and that will embrace my cuddly loving side. I like to go to the dog park and on long walks! I also love to nap along side my humans! I am great my crate! I use a doggy door and enjoy the freedom of being able to go outside when I want. Could WOO be my furever family? You have made the decision to adopt a sled dog. This should be an informed and well researched decision. We intend for all adoptions to be permanent. Therefore, every effort will be made to ensure that both, the dog and adopter, are a perfect fit. TSDR will check vet and personal references and do home visits. All adopters will submit a completed adoption application and will be subjected to a vet check and home visit with all family members. All dogs placed by TSDR will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated for distemper/parvo, rabies, lepto and bordetella, and heartworm tested. They will also be microchipped. New owners will receive copies of all available vet information and must agree to keep them current on all of the above. Applicants must be 21 years of age and head of household (own or rent and deed/lease is in your name) and live in Texas (we rarely do out-of-state adoptions). Children in the home or that visit often must be at least 6 years of age (exceptions have been made but dependent on previous sled dog or large dog experience). Applicants who rent/lease must provide contract info on pet policy or landlord will be contacted for verification. For dogs 1 years old to 7 years old, the adoption donation is $250 and due at the time of adoption. Puppies younger than 1 years old will be $300 and seniors over the age of 7 years old will be $150. As this is a donation, it will be non-returnable if dog is returned to rescue. Dogs are not placed on a "first come, first serve" basis but rather the best home for the dog. http://www.texassleddogrescue.org/index.php?p=1_12_Adoption https://www.formstack.com/forms/?1632205-WX2Zb144ZP

Story
We adopted Kate from the Houston ASPCA as a puppy to be my husband's dog since the dog we'd adopted a year earlier had bonded with me. Kate is a sweet, smart, loving, cuddly girl who loves to play fetch with a frisbee or ball. She's anxious to please & the happiest animal I've ever encountered. She's happy to get up in the morning, thrilled with breakfast or supper & loves people. She runs around her special friends several times & jumps up to sneak a kiss when she greets them. She knows sit, stay, down, relax & no to varying degrees. She thinks she's a sled dog, so heel is not in her vocabulary. She's very vocal & a great watch dog. She'll warn you if anyone comes anywhere near the house. The dogs got along well for a year then began having squabbles, which progressed to fights. We consulted an animal behaviorist & worked with a trainer with no luck. I'll miss her, but Kate will be happier in a home where she is the only pet.

Story
Est DOB 8/1/16 current weight:  60 lbs Cassiopeia (aka Casserole) is such a doll. She loves being able to take her humans for a walk, or Nexflix binging inside while getting snuggles. She is playful and seems very curious of smaller dogs, but doesn't seem to care much for bigger dogs. Cassie has done well getting pet by children and people of all ages at our adoption events, so she is an equal opportunity love sponge! She does experience some anxiety when crated, however, so her foster mama gives her the run of the bedroom while she is at work during the day. (Cassie seems to be HOUSE-TRAINED too!)  Cassie is a uniquely beautiful soul that really deserves to find her forever home. She will make you glad you gave her a chance! <3 If interested in adopting Cassiopeia, please fill out an application. Thank you!! This dog is heartworm positive but please do not rule him/her out because of it. There's a treatment that is not as hard on the dog as the one you may have heard of and it's FREE.$150 adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, rabies and other vaccinations, heartworm test, deworming, and heartworm and flea preventatives while the dog is in our care.Like us on Facebook - search Mutts & Meows - and help even more pets find loving homes.

Story
BIOS ARE BEING UPDATED FOR THIS HIGH ENERGY UNIQUE 21 MONTH PUP PLEASE INQUIRY WITHIN: Brie : Weight 30 lbs. Were you looking for a pup that can be your entire world and trust life through your direction on the leash? That is what Brie is looking for: bright eyed playful, cuddly bouncy petite girl about 13 inches-with a soft smile and loads of charm desiring full trust in people as she aims to please is available for Foster to Adopt or Adoptive Home. She is a special treasure that was not going to allow previous fears on the leash and being confused with sounds and movements hold her back from a real life-she wants more than just playing in the yard and she deserves it! Brie really LOVES balls and toys; strong desire to retrieve/give and run and herd her pack mates and that happy bark when doing so; finds so much freedom in swimming and turned into a fish like her siblings her 2nd trip to a park (in her video) at the quieter hours; jump on the couch with you and enjoy a fun chat and lap love; loves to ride in the car. Her leash life lessons have been stunted from fears in early puppy stages and her life before rescue amplifying her sound sensitivity and reaction to movements. Remember she is a herder these traits are so true for the breed. For me I love to earn undivided trust through the leash and that is what Brie is getting and she is gaining a confident foundation to her lessons. Example of a lesson: Brie can now start her walk right out my door (unless too much activity then we drive), using the clicker to mark positive behavior and calm she also does down and recall other tricks on the leash to keep the focus. If there is activity in front of us we may cross the street before-hand and or make a U-turn in a drive way or push on through it doing tricks keeping a steady calm nature for Brie and identify what we see and move on so as not to fixate on fear of unknown variables. Example: on a walk there was a loose Schnauzer out front of its house, she loves dogs of course, and I went over with her about ringing the doorbell for the puppy and it’s mommy may talk to us, she was very calm and there were no other outside factors at that time all very happy-as we moved along our walk two people came around a corner a bit unexpected she got scared but worked with me and the command is ‘done’. It’s all about the trust down the leash for Brie. 2/9 Example: Quiet trail walk at Sugarland Memorial Park: Brie did great with the big lawn mowers doing tricks for focus and calm, saw a jogger fear barked as he was ‘coming at us’ then she wanted to herd him!, did great with me talking to someone from a distance and let me know she was ready to move on. I am highly observant of our environment to anticipate anything necessary creating a positive and safe environment. Brie can handle activity on the street and it’s important for her to have this but if it’s too much at once, or right in front of her she feels threatened possibly boxed it like it’s coming ‘at her’, progressing daily with this, and cars used to scare her so much just the vibration she was in total fear of being injured. She is looking for someone who works from home that has the time to dedicate to more lessons for a healthy living; an approved trainer maybe needed to continue this work in her environment please be aware of the commitment you are making to her. Fortunate for Brie and her littermates I was able make a full commitment at 11 weeks of age building a foundation allowing Brie to find her true self. Brie and her sister did move from a foster to my rescue/training house at 4 months of age. This was an accidental litter Border Collie mom and Aussie dad surrendered to rescue. Coming from a rural raising with limited human interaction things in the world are still new and take time to learn and trust. With my desire to build a strong physical foundation and the lack of proper nutrition she has been on a raw meat/fresh veggies diet along and quality kibble. An ideal home for her would have some quiet between neighbors; fence is mandatory and no apartments or condos; children 10 and up only as this can be too intense to this Border Collie; a dedicated human partner to enjoy life with; having her human and pup pack to bond with. Brie’s adoption donation is $275. There is an application to adopt and home visit where applicable. She is crate/house trained; fully vetted/chipped/on preventative, clicker and enjoys whistle training. ******I believe you have to see the world as a dog does and thus training began at home on all the new and unknown variables through identification, clicker and positive food motivated exercises; learning redirection to sounds and stimuli in the yard/home and life on the leash; coached on dog interactions to strengthen the leadership skills; working through all fears in the home and on the leash using the clicker method to achieve a healthy action/reaction; using the curious nature to feel positive at the vets office.********

Story
Dooley is a very loving, sweet boy. He is 5 years old and I adopted him a year ago. Sadly I am not able to give him the quality of life hat he needs. I live in an apartment and work 45 hours a week, so he is alone a lot. He is a couch potato but also does need plenty of exercise. He needs a yard to play in, lots of toys, and time outdoors- things I’m unable to provide at this time in my life. Dooley needs playtime, social time, and lots of stimulating toys to play with and destroy. He does not do well with other dogs but he is very sweet and kind to people. When I adopted him he was missing 1 lower K9 and most of his front teeth! This does not prevent him from any normal activities. I call him a gummy bear because of this!

Story
Kit is an 8-9 year old Aussie/Border collie mix (our best guess).  She is sweet as sugar, loves her people and her food.  Due to previous abuse issues, she is a little nervous around other dogs.  She NEEDS TO BE IN A household by herself as she wants all the attention.  She has perfect house manners, crate trained and house trained.  She is currently on thyroid meds, and we hope that will help her loose a little weight as well.  She is very easy going and would make great company for a quiet household.  She would love a family where maybe someone is retired and would be home with her during the day.  She likes to walk around the yard with her special person.  Don't miss out on this sweet jewel, apply today at www.freedomcollierescue.org ##560302##
