Story
Sailor turned up stray in the country and was kept for awhile by the family who found him before being brought to the shelter. He's very laid back and loving and has recently been introduced to the other cats in the cat room, where he is being cautious but seems to be doing okay with them. All PAWS cats must keep their claws, no declawing please :)

Story
Barbara was originally adopted out to someone from the ARL in Des Moines, but for some unknown reason, was found wondering loose around Spring Lake Park and then ended up at the shelter in Jefferson. Barbara is microchipped, but we have had no success in contacting her previous owner, so she is up for adoption again. Barbara believes she is the Queen of Everything, so needs to be in a home where everyone else is in agreement with that! She will do best in a home with no other animals and no small children. Barbara is both silly and sassy. She likes to play and be petted, but only on her terms, and when she no longer wants to be petted, her people need to respect that, which is why we are suggesting no small children with her. In the right home she will be a wonderful, calm companion. All PAWS cats must keep their claws, no declawing please:)

Story
My name is Wilbur, but perhaps I should have been named Houdini or Tarzan. I love to escape the kitten room and explore my surroundings. It's not my fault, I just miss the humans so much when they finish chores and try to leave!

Story
Naomi was born at the shelter on 6/12/23. You can pick her out from her brothers and sisters because she has darker, richer colored fur. She is easy going and nothing really bothers her.

Story
Snickers came to us as a tiny 1-pound kitten. She needed a little TLC, but she was full of spunk and eating great on her own. After a short stay at the shelter, she went to a foster home for several weeks where she got some great socialization, both human and feline. She's now back at the shelter and ready for adoption. Her foster mom worked hard at socializing her so she would easily adapt to a home with kids, or a home with older folks, or a home somewhere in between. She is a great young kitty, who is growing fast!
