Story
Chenoa arrived at Furry Friends as a part of a joint outdoor rescue operation with Feline Fix, where she and about 10 of her feline friends were relocated just as the first snowfall of the season began to settle on the ground and a chill was permeating the air. Chenoa was tiny, just a wee kitty who was terrified and completely out of her element being indoors. While she and her friends had been regularly looked after by a dedicated group of volunteers who would feed and monitor for any potential problems, trouble struck when the cats began to be attacked by some cruel person who thought it would be fun to take potshots at Chenoa’s colony with a BB gun. While tracking down whoever was abusing the colony, it was quickly decided that the best course of action was to get the cats somewhere safe. Somehow even after the horrific ordeal of being shot at and relocated from the only home they knew, many of the kitties showed promise towards warming up to people and becoming adoptable... Including little Chenoa! As the days went by and Chenoa spent some time upstairs in our medical room recovering from a cold with her sister, Addy, she became very curious of all of the volunteers around her. It started with gingerly petting her head, then she allowed us to scritch her soft ears, and eventually with patience we were able to scoop her from her bed and hold her in our arms! It wasn’t long until she would start to purr when we opened her cage to give her fresh food and water, and she would even venture closer to us on her own to try and shyly sneak in some affection. Nowadays Chenoa is still a small and shy cat, but thankfully she has grown healthier and more confident as life inside continues to be good to her. Most days she will pass her time by snuggling with her many siblings on a soft bed, but with being such a young kitty comes a strong playful streak as well! You can encourage Chenoa to come out of her shell bit by bit if you wiggle her favourite wand and feather toys in front of her, and she will rarely ever say no to a delicious handful of treats. Since Chenoa grew up with a large colony of cats always close by her side, her future forever home will need to have at least one other friendly kitty to keep her company, if not more! Unfortunately Chenoa is an ‘all paws safely on the ground’ kind of kitty and does not jive with the idea of being driven across down to Petsmart, and so if you would like to meet her, you are more than welcome to visit her in person at our shelter!
