Story
Chenoa arrived at Furry Friends as a part of a joint outdoor rescue operation with Feline Fix, where she and about 10 of her feline friends were relocated just as the first snowfall of the season began to settle on the ground and a chill was permeating the air. Chenoa was tiny, just a wee kitty who was terrified and completely out of her element being indoors. While she and her friends had been regularly looked after by a dedicated group of volunteers who would feed and monitor for any potential problems, trouble struck when the cats began to be attacked by some cruel person who thought it would be fun to take potshots at Chenoa’s colony with a BB gun. While tracking down whoever was abusing the colony, it was quickly decided that the best course of action was to get the cats somewhere safe. Somehow even after the horrific ordeal of being shot at and relocated from the only home they knew, many of the kitties showed promise towards warming up to people and becoming adoptable... Including little Chenoa! As the days went by and Chenoa spent some time upstairs in our medical room recovering from a cold with her sister, Addy, she became very curious of all of the volunteers around her. It started with gingerly petting her head, then she allowed us to scritch her soft ears, and eventually with patience we were able to scoop her from her bed and hold her in our arms! It wasn’t long until she would start to purr when we opened her cage to give her fresh food and water, and she would even venture closer to us on her own to try and shyly sneak in some affection. Nowadays Chenoa is still a small and shy cat, but thankfully she has grown healthier and more confident as life inside continues to be good to her. Most days she will pass her time by snuggling with her many siblings on a soft bed, but with being such a young kitty comes a strong playful streak as well! You can encourage Chenoa to come out of her shell bit by bit if you wiggle her favourite wand and feather toys in front of her, and she will rarely ever say no to a delicious handful of treats. Since Chenoa grew up with a large colony of cats always close by her side, her future forever home will need to have at least one other friendly kitty to keep her company, if not more! Unfortunately Chenoa is an ‘all paws safely on the ground’ kind of kitty and does not jive with the idea of being driven across down to Petsmart, and so if you would like to meet her, you are more than welcome to visit her in person at our shelter!

Story
Handsome, svelte, and graceful Fang is one of our much loved long term residents here at Furry Friends, at the time of writing this he has been with us for just shy of SIX years, 2173 days and counting! Fang is an outgoing kitty with a love for all things adventurous, it's not uncommon to see him bound with ease from the tops of cages to the highest perches of cat trees, and he's even one of the only cats we've ever had that can spring from the floor to the roof of our shelter washroom. Fang looks gravity straight in the eye and laughs, it holds no control over him as far as he's concerned! As one of our long term residents, Fang naturally gets along well with the kitties around him after having learn to sort out differences over the years, but he still acts like he's king of the castle once in a while. 'Bossy' isn't quite the word to describe him, but Fang certainly knows what he wants, who he likes, and when he's had enough action for the day. Despite his fierce appearance due to his high cheekbones and prominent tooth, Fang is a softie who very much enjoys company and appreciates a good scratch on the head or brush down his back.

Story
Our regal, 9 year old Elliot arrived at Furry Friend’s doorstep in a rather unconventional way - During an evening shift at the shelter, there was a large commotion at our front door that our volunteers immediately went to investigate. Upon opening the door they were not only greeted with the sight of a car speedily peeling out of our driveway, but also a small wooden box wedged underneath one of our heavy flower pots. To everyone's surprise, the box contained one very scared and desperately ill kitty who lashed out from fear at our volunteers when they attempted to remove him from the filthy box and place him into a clean cage. The people who dumped Elliot left him in a container with no air holes and no hope of getting out thanks to the heavy pot on top of the lid, and realistically speaking he would have met an awful end had nobody been around to see him dropped off. Thankfully our wonderful volunteers hadn’t gone home yet, and Elliot was rushed to the vets in the morning for a full work over. We discovered that besides his obvious neglect and starving body, Elliot was also severely anemic and needed immediate care. It has taken a few months and lots of TLC, but thanks to the loving care of our medical volunteers Elliot has made a beautiful recovery and now boasts a full belly and a royal attitude that fits his kingly appearance! Elliot is looking forward to finding his own special forever home where he can be doted on and loved as he's always needed. Elliot is looking for a home where he will be the only cat, because after a life of hardship he just isn't too keen on sharing his food or space with any other kitty! He really enjoys being the 'top dog' and isn't afraid to let a little attitude show in the form of a nip or a swat if he doesn't get his way, but he isn't a mean cat in the slightest. Elliot simply knows now that he is deserving of respect, love, and safety, and he makes sure that everyone else knows it too.
