Story
This sweet guy was found inside someone's house after hurricane Harvey.  The place was flooded and unlivable and they brought him to us to keep him safe.  He's another super cuddler that also loves to play.  He will cuddle up under the blankets at your feet at night.  He loves to play with all the dogs, but really seems to like the way the bigger ones will let him get rough with them.  He never hurts the little ones and he'll play with them just fine too. He's got a sweet personality and some adorable ears

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.A Very Special GirlMimi is a sweet little Doxie mix girl whom we found abandoned on Cypresswood and 45.  Her family has never been found.  And why would anyone abandon this cutie you might ask.  I wonder this every single day.   Who couldn't love this little girl.  She is so sweet.   The 'Kiss Me' caption is so accurate as this little girl loves Kisses and to be loved on.   It is the best gift in the world to be greeted every day when I come home from work with unconditional love.  Loves to play with tennis balls and absolutely is energetic.  She will chase the tennis ball all over the living room.  No more tennis balls it will be racket balls from now on.  She can destroy a tennis balll....lolShe is very affectionate and loves to snuggle on the couch and sleep with her foster Mom. She will sleep in her crate if you insist but I prefer puppy snuggles.  She will cry if you get out of her site but does not mind you leaving for work.  Mimi will make the best addition to any family although it will very hard to let her go.   I am not sure how Mimi would do with an older person at this time because she does get up under your feet.   She and her fur sister get along well although Mimi will try to get more attention as she is younger than her fur sister.  I have been unsuccessful in getting better pictures but difficult to do alone.  This girl may just make me a foster failure. Mimi is heartworm positive and is being treated currently. Leash, house, and crate trained.  She does very well walking on a leash and very inquisitive about everything she encounters. This girl has absolutely captured my heart.     ========================================================= Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org for more information about this dog. You can apply online by clicking on Application . Puppies that are under 4 months old cannot be adopted outside of our Veterinary Service area.  Please call for specific locations. Children under 8 years old often are not a good match for our puppies and dogs.   In order to protect both, your child and our rescued dogs/puppies from harm, we seldom if ever adopt to families with young children. Once your application is approved, we will schedule a meet and greet at one of our adoption events.  Thank you for considering a rescue! The adoption fee includes vaccinations, Bordetella, de-worming, rabies, spay/neuter and microchip. There is a an additional $12.99 fee for Home Again for a lifetime registration of the microchip. Puppies cannot be adopted outside of the Houston area until they are spay/neutered after they are 4 months old. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it. NOTE: In our bios, we provide information based on our volunteer's experience with a particular dog; such as temperament, training, and ability to get along with others. AARF is a 501(c)3 Non Profit, all breed, no kill organization. Our group is always in need of donations in order to continue to give the needed medical care to our rescues. Adoption fees do not begin to cover all of the medical costs. Any donation , no matter how small is a big help and is greatly appreciated. Please help us to continue to help them. Thank you.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello,  My name is Dixie and I am searching for a loving family to call my own.   I might be 11 years of age but please don't call me old.  My age is merely a number however you would think I was a young sassy gal at heart with lots of spirit in my step.  I have no health conditions and I eat a regular diet.  I love carrots and fresh baked chicken jerky for a treat.  I love playing with toys, bones to chew are my favorite and I have little interest in fabric filled toys.  I enjoy chasing tennis balls around the house for physical activity. I love a Kong filled with peanut butter and will play with kong for hours.  It is a nice treat and keeps me stimulated if I am not outside.  I absolutely love to snuggle and love lots of petting especially at my ears, head and face. I get along great with my large foster brother and everyone I meet.  He and I love taking long walks together.  I  love my foster moms back yard to soak up some sun or lay in the sun at an open door.  I am very gentle and passive and just want to please whoever gives me attention.  I am a happy dog who needs little care beyond the basics.  I know all basic commands very well to include "sit pretty", "high five" and "kiss for a treat".   My tail wags constantly and lets you know I am just a happy pup.   I love my crate and will near burrow myself amidst the blankets. I enjoy going to the crate on my own to take long naps.   I would be perfect for someone who wants a loving companion to go for walks or just have an easy going healthy pup to love.   I haven't experienced living with cats except for seeing those who walk our back fence and I could care less about them.   I can't wait to find my furever home!   Please contact  app@aarfhouston.org  for more information about this dog.
