Story
Jessie Anne is a sweet 6 1/2 year old, female, Dachshund mix. She is 13 lbs, crate trained, and housetrained, walk wells on a leash and is very treat motivated. She needs time to warm up to new people and would do best in a home without small children.  Once Jessie Anne bonds to you that bond won’t be broken!  She is a great lap dog if you like that or will cuddle up in her corner of the couch.  She would love nothing more than someone to provide her a lap to snuggle in or be your sunbathing buddy.  Good photos have been a challenge because she would much rather you scratch her head than photograph her!  She has a soft silky coat and the cutest little hop, skip and jump when she struts her stuff on walks and is happy to let you know when she needs your attention with a soft nudge of her nose on your hands!  Some basic stats on Jessie Anne: Approximate Year of Birth: 2013 Gender: Female Breed: Mixed breed, Dachshund mix Weight: 13 lbs Energy Level: Low Kids: It's a possibility with older considerate kids Dogs: Eh I prefer to be your one and only!  Cats: No thank you! Special Notes: A gentle heart looking for a loving, patient new home! Adopt Jessie Anne at www.hhfrescue.org. The adoption fee includes vaccinations, bordetella, deworming, rabies, spay/neuter, microchip, a lifetime registration of the microchip, and sales tax. If adopting a puppy, the rabies and spay/neuter will be done at the same time by our vet once they are 4 months old and billed to us. It is against the law in the State of Texas for a rescue not to be sterilized so we have to make sure it gets completed and that we have record of it.

Story
Tommy, an elder black & tan dachshund, once shared his home with his sibling until their pet parent passed away. Despite his age, he remains youthful and in excellent health. Tommy embodies the term "Velcro dog," always preferring to be by your side whether you're cooking, watching TV, gardening, or strolling. He's diligently working on perfecting his house manners, alerting when he needs to go outside. While he generally gets along with cats, his reaction depends on the individual feline. His foster home has two senior cats, one blind and one deaf; he is getting along with them fine but they are dog friendly kitties. Tommy possesses a natural dachshund prey instinct, making him curious about anything that moves or reacts. He's sociable with other dog-friendly canines and enjoys playful interactions. He has another dog in the house he likes to play with. Tommy delights in carrying around a soft toy and has a hearty appetite. He loves his treats! Tommy, a seasoned gentleman, with sweet and affectionate personality seeks a new home where he can shower affection on his human companion and remain by their side. Medical: Tommy has chronic dryness in one eye and will require a very inexpensive eye drop given twice day; otherwise he is in excellent health for a senior. Tommy is a Male Dachshund that we estimate to be born around 2/2/2010 and weighs 17.6 lbs.

Story
Meet Frankie! Frankie is a 14-year-old black and tan male dachshund. Don't let his age fool you. He is a healthy boy and has a lot of love left to give. Sadly, Frankie's owner passed away and he was gloomy for quite a while. He initially refused to walk on a leash or acknowledge a toy. Today, he loves his morning and evening walks with our two dogs and has such a youthful, bouncy gait--nothing cuter! He excitedly alerts on squirrels, but realizes that his squirrel-chasing days are probably over and settles quickly back into the rhythm of the walk. There's something so precious about seeing him pick up a toy and carry it around with him now. He also has come to adore cuddling on the couch or in bed. He gets a little jealous when our dogs get attention, but is becoming more secure with time. Frankie still doesn't like being alone and will follow his fosters around to be in the same room. They suspect that's because of the sudden loss of his owner and believe it may take time for him to feel independent. Frankie is good with dogs and the children he meet on his walks. Please consider adopting sweet senior dog, Frankie as he needs a loving home to spend his final years. Frankie is a 14 year old male dauschund. He weighs 13lbs.

Story
Janey will keep you smiling- she loves to cuddle, play with other dogs, go on walks, and has the funniest little antics. Here is some of the silly behavior you'll see: if she wants your attention while you are doing something she'll occasionally stand in front of you and just move her mouth as if she's talking to you even though she isn't making any sound. Also, though little in size, she can make a big "owwwoooowooo" noise when she is happy and excited- it is so cute! Finally, you'll catch her sleeping completely on her back with legs up as if she had a hard night on the town. She may be a little shy at first but this girl has a lot of personality and would love to find a home to call her own. She would do well in a home where people will spend equal amounts of time loving and caring for her to build strong bonds with her or in a home with a single person as she tends to bond very closely with one person at a time more easily.

Story
Hello, my name is Chardonnay and I'm searching for my furrever family! I LOVE other dogs, but have yet to be around cats or children. I love curling up on the couch after an intense exercise. New people? No problem! I love being at the center of attention and being a social butterfly! I walk well on a leash and would make the perfect running buddy - just promise me I can get some cuddles from you afterwards! I'm always smiling and have been told I'm a goffy girl! My foster mom says: "Chardonnay has fear to loud sounds like the vacuum or a slap of the door or hair driers , to the stairs and in that situations she just hide.is food motivated and she loves men, specially if they are confident or athletic, I don't know why; she responded well with them and is able to follow orders. inside the house is very cuddly and outside is just want to run around. (1 year old, 24.5 pounds, dog-friendly, NOT cat-tested, NOT kid-tested, house-trained, kennel-trained)
