Story
Toby is 2 and a half years old and about 20 lbs. Tricolor beagle mix with blue eyes. Shy. He is related to the large group of unsocialized beagle mixes we got 2 years ago (Domino, Felix, Solitaire, Martini etc). He had gone to another rescue, but joined his siblings here last year. These dogs were hardly used to people. Toby is doing better than some. He won't let himself be petted, but he has been good about going in and out of his kennel for exercise time. He's even become the life of the party in the small dog exercise yard. He gets all the dogs playing, old and young. Though he's shy with people, he could be a good choice for someone wanting a playmate for their dog. Because of his shyness, we don't recommend him for a home with kids. A new owner will have to make sure that the yard and home are escape-proof. He is neutered and has all his shots, plus a microchip.&#226&#128&#139 Are you my furrever family? For further info on the adoption process, please visit our home page and check out the "Adopt a Dog" section, which has thorough instructions.  All our dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and  fully vaccinated before adoption; they have been wormed, bathed, socialized, walked daily and much loved; each adoptee leaves with a leash, collar, and all medical records.   Our prices are higher than the shelters' because we nurse the dogs through their illnesses and get them needed surgeries and dentals. We also spend time socializing. Furthermore, unlike shelters, rescues do not get financial aid from the government and must rely on donations, grants, and adoption fees. Our fees start at $150 and go up to $750. The higher end is for our most in demand dogs, such as puppies, young beagles, and hard-to-find purebred dogs. In special cases, for purebred puppies, we may go beyond this and charge $1000. The lower end is for dogs that have been here for a while. The good news is that, because rescues fall under the "charity" category, the fees for our dogs are officially donations and are therefore tax deductible. You can think of it as donating to a worthy cause and getting a dog in return!  The beauty of coming to our Apple Valley sanctuary is that you can see all 90+ dogs.  Email your application and ask for more details. Sponsor Me Beagles & Buddies must find ways to raise money so we can continue saving dogs. Story
Princess is a labrador retriever/hound mix, 2 years old and 43 lbs. Black with a little white. She came from a shelter March 19. She's had her shots and is spayed. She is a timid girl and needs patience. She can also be barky. But she should be loving once she is used to someone. She is young and has room to learn. She's housed in a kennel section that has mostly small dogs, and she is gentle with them in the exercise yard. She's done well with big dogs, too. She is obedient about going in and out of her kennel for her exercise time. She should thrive in the right home.  &#226&#128&#139 Are you my furrever family? Story
Stilts is a very big boy. He's a gentle giant at 87.5 lbs. He looks like a huge hound and may be mixed with Great Dane. The shelter he came from in April said he's 2, but he looks older, maybe 10 years old. He's been a nice, patient dog. Very mellow and affectionate. He's been okay with smaller dogs. One of his buddies is just 25-30 lbs. His exercise area is right next to the small dog yard, and he has been friendly when seeing the little dogs on the other side of the fence.  &#226&#128&#139 Are you my furrever family? Julius is an 8 year old lab mixed with a bit of pit. He's a nice boy, and good with other dogs. He shares a yard with pit bull Jefferson.
