Story
Sally is a two year old Swiss mountain dog mix. Sally is 85 lbs and fully vetted. Sally has had a rough start. Sally has been in 3 different shelters and 3 homes with no fault of her own. Sally started out in Georgia as a puppy in a high kill shelter and was then transported to Ohio to a no kill shelter where she was adopted. Sally stayed with that family for a year and was returned to a different shelter because she began attacking  a smaller older dog that was having severe seizures.  Sally was then adopted by a young man who kept her in a college frat house for 6 months, when he no longer had time for her 6 months later he gave Sally to his parents who let Sally run on their farm. Sally got along well with their Bernie’s mountain dog but then there was an episode where Sally attacked  their 15 year old smaller dog- the situation surrounding what caused this incident was not revealed. Sally was unable to return to the shelter due to lack of space.  Our rescue offered to help and so Sally came to us on Jan 31 st.  Sally is completely potty trained, she is very low maintain everything for grooming. Sally walks well on a leash, she loves to play ball and loves toys. She is super affectionate and wants to be right by you.  Sally is very protective and loyal.  Sally’s special needs are a home with no young children under 10, no cats, smalls dogs or other animals.  Sally would do best with an experienced owner, that has had a larger or working breed dog.  Sally would also do best to be the only dog in the home or with a non dominate like sized dog.  Sally is currently being boarded and trained to assist her with her lack of socialization with other dogs that has caused her aggression.  Sally is a wonderful dog and deserves a loving forever home. Adoption application, meet and great, and home visit required prior to adoption.   For an adoption application please email  gunnersrunrescue@yahoo.com  All of our dogs have been spayed or neutered, have had DA2PPVL shots (prevents Distemper and Parvo), nasal Bordetella (prevents kennel cough), been given a rabies shot if older than 16 weeks, have been micro chipped, dewormed with Drontal (a top of the line dewormer) are on heart worm preventative, had their ears and teeth checked, and been given a over all check by the vet. Our dogs come with a folder containing all their veterinary information, a one month dose of heart worm preventative. Adoption application, reference check, and home visit required prior to adoption. We will consider out of state adoptions provided we are able to locate another rescue group to do the home visit. The adoptive family will be required to come to our location to pick up their new family member, we do not transport our dogs. We are a 501c3 non profit organization and are Illinois state licensed.
