Story
Axel is a 10 year old grey brindle Shihtzu cross. He is a quiet boy who likes to be near his humans. He likes his walks several times a day and is quite active. He gets super excited when new people come to visit and will jump up, but does settle after a while. He likes to play fetch with his toys and will just run up and down the hall when he’s got a burst of energy. He will bark a little, but quiets down when asked to. He likes to cuddle on your lap and will ask for permission before doing so. He is good when left alone and completely house trained. He does have a collapsed trachea and will cough, but the vet tells us this is nothing that needs treatment, and must use a harness to prevent the pulling on his throat from a collar. He does have a chicken allergy, so any other protein in his diet is a must. He loves to sleep on his foster mom’s bed and settles quickly and sleeps the full night. He is up to date with his vaccines, neutered, flea treated and heartworm negative. An application to adopt me can be found at www.oxfordcountyanimalrescue.com. His adoption fee is $375 and you must provide 3 references and permission to speak with your vet.

Story
Meet Sara! As a young pup, while asleep, a child jumped on Sara and startled/hurt her. She reacted by nipping the child. Sara was then confined to a crate as she was frightened of the child and would growl when the child was near. She was at risk of euthanized and was surrendered to the rescue. In her foster home, she has an older foster brother who she loves to rough house, chase and play with. She does resource guard and that is something her foster family is working on helping her with. She has grown into a lovely young lady who likes to be held and cuddled and her foster family is regularly reinforcing positive touch. She is nervous of strangers and will growl, but warms up if left to make the first move. She was not socialized as a young pup and is learning leash manners, to play cooperatively, how to 'slow' down with everything, and to be gentle. She would be best in a home with no children under 12 years. She will require a patient family, that will take the time to train her and understand her fear of strangers. Sara will come up to date on her vaccinations, micro chipped and is spayed. Adoption fee $375.00 Please fill out an application for Sara at www.oxfordcountyanimalrescue.com

Story
We at PDR believe in the benefits of post-adoption training for our dogs and their families. This allows for continued socialization, learning and helps to create a well-mannered and balanced dog. Post-adoption training is a requirement in our adoption process. For more information on our process and requirements, visit our website at https://pounddog.ca/adoption-info/. Posie is a small, short-haired, black, 10-year-old Chihuahua. She is just under 5 lbs and she’s a good size for almost any kind of living space. She is the sweetest little dog and will be an amazing companion for a lucky person or family. She is very sweet, and sometimes still timid or nervous in new situations but she is very happy once she is comfortable in her environment. The first day Posie came to our home for fostering she wanted to sit in my son’s lap right away. Although it was a new environment for her she greeted him with doggie kisses all over his hands and just seemed to want the comfort of being held. She was exhausted by bedtime and slept really well and has slept well in her crate every night – not a peep and no issues. At the beginning we had to take her out of her crate in the morning, now when I open the door she happily sprints out of her cage and runs down the stairs and dives into her daytime doggie bed, rolling around excitedly and looking for pats and tummy rubs while she licks our hands with love and affection. Our sweet Posie came from a pound in Toronto where she was an unclaimed stray. She was very quiet, and very sleepy. Once she was rested for several days, we were able to take her out for a walk and saw how happy she was to be out walking. Although she’s not a fan of any snow in her path, we either pick her up to get through the snow-covered sidewalk or we encourage her to get through it on her own occasionally too. Posie is especially happy to walk on the days the sun is shining and the sidewalks are clear! And on really cold days Posie may decide she’s not up for a walk and wants to get back home as quickly as possible. Posie is very quiet and would be suitable in a variety of homes, condos or apartments. In our home she has only barked a handful of times when someone has come to the door. Although Posie loves her walks she does not require a lot of activity to be happy. She is also very comfortable riding in the car. She is calm and seems content to sit while being held in someone’s lap so she can see out the window. We were very lucky that Posie was housetrained and crate trained when she came to us. We’ve had a couple of minor accidents in our house but overall, she’s been good, and we have a good routine now. She hasn’t had to spend much time in her daytime crate and when we do crate her, she is very good about it and very quiet. She’s also very excited when it’s time to come out. The cats in our house easily accepted Posie into our home. She has no interest in the cats but will chase them occasionally when she sees them approaching us in the area of her space in our family room. We are working with her to correct this and it doesn’t happen too often. We would consider her for a home with a dog savvy cat but would prefer no other pets in the home. We have to ensure that she wouldn’t be injured by another pet in the home. Posie is quite small and fragile and could be injured easily. She is not aggressive with other dogs but for the same reason we would like her to be the only dog in the home. In our home she has spent time with adults and teenagers. We would consider a home for her with teenagers but no younger children please….this tiny, mature dog will not enjoy the energy and noise and quick movements of young children. In our experience so far Posie will listen when she is being redirected. She likes her dog bed, but she also loves the sofa and tests out the sofa option often. She mostly understands and listens when she is redirected to her dog bed. She is not a dog that tries to jump up on people and she is quite well behaved. We haven’t had a chance to work on any tricks yet but with the right training and a basic obedience program this would likely be something she could learn. Posie came from the pound with known dental issues and had to have dental surgery to remove 14 of her teeth. (She needs a soft food diet). While we were sad, she lost so many teeth, we were happy when we saw she felt a million times better. We didn’t realize how much impact her dental issues had on her behavior and personality until after the surgery, and medication was finished, and we saw her renewed spirit and energy. We have enjoyed our time as first-time fosters caring for Posie as she rested and healed. She is a happy and loving companion and she is ready to find her forever home.

Story
If you are looking for an energetic, loving, loyal dog with a goofball personality. This is the boy for you! Jake is 5 years young, up to date with vaccines, neutered, heartworm negative and dewormed. He is crate and house trained. Jake LOVES people. He is evergetic and MUST have a safe place to run his energy off. A small townhouse yard will not do, he needs a nice yard to book it and play. He gets up in the morning and can't wait to go outside and explore. He loves walks, hikes, and car rides. He will make an excellent family pet. If you love an adventurous life, Jake is perfect for that. He just wants to be loved. Sadly, Jake spent most of his life tethered outside. His owner was gravely ill and could not give Jake the time he needed. Jake was by his side when his owner passed away. He was rescued a few days later and has been in our care ever since. Now that he is in a foster home with a huge fenced-in area he runs like the wind and is loving every minute of life he was denied up to his rescue. Jake is being fostered by a professional dog trainer. He gets along with all dogs and people he has met to date. He would be good with a medium or larger sized dog. Small dogs might get run over by him we recommend at least 30 pounds or higher to safely play with Jake. Kids should be sturdy on their feet. He falls in love with people easily. He chases birds and squirrels so were going to say no to cats to be safe. He does bark when you come in to greet him. But settles as soon as you come over to greet him. he is so excited to have visitors :) We can not express enough how loving this boy is and how stunned we are that he is still with us. All Jake wants for Christmas is a family to love him. Are you that family? email animalovefoundation@yahoo.com with your house and family bio today!!

Story
Well hello there! I’m Britta and I’m 10.5 years old.  I am ½ of an amazing pair of Brittanys and we are looking for our forever home…. TOGETHER.  My sister Becca and I used to live outside all the time but since we’ve lived in foster care we’ve learned to love to be inside and hang with our people.  We like all people...me especially and I will stick by your side, follow you around the house, sit beside you on the couch and snuggle with you in bed. I like to be taken for walks, but I get excited and pull on the leash.  Walks are exciting…what can I say?  I also like toys…stuffies are the best.  I like to unstuff them.  I have a high prey drive so I shouldn’t live with a cat. My sister Becca and I would love a home where it’s just us and our humans.  More love for us.   We are very active for our age and love to run outside.  Don't be fooled by the white in our face...we are young at heart! I used to have nasty heart worms in me, but NBRAN got me all fixed up and they are gone.  I am spayed, up to date on all my vaccinations and overall very healthy.  So if you are looking for aperfect pair of Brittanys to join your family….we are your girls.  We will only go to our new home together…. together forever!  Our adoption fee, as we are seniors, is $200 US each but if you are a senior too it’s $100 US each.  We are located near London, Ontario, Canada but NBRAN can transport us up to 2200 kms or 1400 miles.  If you are interested, please submit an application and our people will get in touch with you.  http://www.nbran.org/adopt/adoption-application For more information about Britta (and Becca) please contact sandratoal18@gmail.com We will NOT consider splitting up this pair. They have been together their entire lives.
