*** REQUIRES A HOME WITH A FENCED YARD AND NO CATS *** NAME: NANNA HILMARSDOTTIR AGE/GENDER: 2-YEAR-OLD FEMALE BREED: HUSKY WEIGHT: 60 lbs TEMPERAMENT: independent, loves attention, happy HOUSE TRAINING: Good. CRATE TRAINING: Good. Sleeps in a crate. OTHER DOGS: Can be dog selective and will not tolerate other dominant dogs. Good with submissive personalities. CATS: No. Huskies have a prey drive. CHILDREN: Dog-respectful children, 8 and older   ADOPTION DONATION: $400.00 HEALTH: NANNA is spayed, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, and is current on vaccines. Your adoption donation goes toward the cost of this vet care as well as other incidental costs of care.    HISTORY: Nanna traveled to WA with her newborn babies in order to find a better life than she had in CA.   NOTES FROM FOSTER HOME: Nanna is a sweet loving girl.  She loves to get pets, especially on her belly.  She walks well on a leash, loves to play with toys.  She plays well with other dogs,  but can be testy of another dominant-type dog. She is curious and adventurous. As a husky breed, she does have a prey drive, so would not be able to be housed with a cat in the home.   All dogs adopted from Motley Zoo come with a leash and Martingale collar (or a harness, if necessary), depending on each dog's particular needs.    ABOUT MOTLEY ZOO: Motley Zoo Animal Rescue is a volunteer run, foster based, 501(c)(3) non-profit animal rescue organization based in Redmond, WA. Motley Zoo does not have a traditional shelter location, but instead, utilizes private foster homes which care for the animals individually, in a home environment, until a "furever" home is found.   Motley Zoo also runs "Rock Star Treatment" Dog Daycare & Training Studio in Redmond, WA which is a day-use facility and does not hold kennels of adoptable animals. The dogs there are owned animals who come to the facility while their families are at work and school so they can play and socialize in a safe environment. We dub this service our "Year-round" fundraising program which helps us support our rescue animals and the $15,000/ month vet bills we incur. This Studio location does have an Adoptable Cat Lounge, where cats may live until adoption, which is the exception to any aforementioned rules.   Please email adopt@motleyzoo.org and request an adoption application so we can get you started on the journey to finding a new, furry friend! Once you have been approved to adopt, then we can set up a meeting with the animal you have been matched with.   For more information, please visit www.motleyzoo.org.   Thank you for considering adopting a dog in need!   Woof,   The Motley Zoo Crew

Story
Come play with me! This sleek, short-haired, handsome fellow is ready for the active life! We're guessing he may be a mix of Husky, Border Collie, and perhaps more. At just 11 months old, Sparky is a playful, joyful pup who would thrive with an adult owner (or foster) who is up for adventure...hiking, running, dog sports such as agility or fly ball or trick training, We are picturing a home with a fenced yard for this guy and don't believe an apartment would work for him. While he is good with kids, he's just too exuberant for a home with small children. He really wants to be with his person and have them engage with him—games or snuggling! Sparky was surrendered to the rescue under-socialized and under-stimulated having spent most of his early life alone in a backyard. After a couple of months in a stimulating foster environment we now know we have the Prince of Play. In his foster home, Sparky has started to learn basic obedience, recall, loose leash walking, nose work, and is even learning some tricks. Basic manners & impulse control training are important for him to continue in his adoptive home in order to balance his more natural state: unbridled exuberance! Sparky is still learning not to "mouth" when he's excited. For the most part he is very gentle, but every once in a while he still gets time-outs for mouthing too hard. Same with jumping up. For these reasons, Sparky would be best in a home without children under 12. In order to thrive, especially while still young, Sparky will need someone who is home, or can work from home, and is available for a periodic game of tug, a trip to the dog park, or a walk. He would not do well in an apartment. Sparky dreams of meeting a dog-loving, outdoor adventurer who wants a new best friend. Someone interested in dogs sports, training, or agility would be ideal. Sparky's adoption fee covers the cost of neutering, up-to-date vaccinations, and microchip. If this sweet face "sparks" joy in you, like it does for us, Please complete an application at: https://forms.gle/bSkgpdm6ZX7yH5Ef9 Questions? Contact us at connellpetrescue@gmail.com Thank you!

Story
Alda came in as stray with her sister Edie. She is a gorgeous Husky Mix with a black coat that turns a beautiful reddish brown in the sun. She is a very active girl. And would LOVE to be a running or hiking buddy. She would excel, with a long distance runner, or someone who is an avid active hiker, She would do okay in a condo if her mom or dad worked from home and were extremely active. But having a six foot wood fence is a must if she does have a yard. Like any typical husky, she is an escape artist who needs a wood six foot fence and someone with a flexible schedule that will be active and attentive to keep her safe. She does love her food and she prefers to be fed separate from others. Alda is a lovebug and loves to cuddle as well, she would do best with laidback male dogs. She is untested but likely not great with cats. Aldo does great with people and would do fine with kids 6 and up. She LOVES the snow and today on her walk was eating, like a true goofball. Alda does need training. She loves people and just wants to be loved! Story
Zaya came into the rescue malnourished and pregnant, and had her puppies in a loving foster home in January of 2018. She has been with the same foster family since having her pups, and is now a healthy young malamutte/ huskamute (via DNA testing, she is exactly half Alaskan malamute and half Siberian husky) who requires an experienced forever family. Zaya is estimated to be around 1.5 - 2 years old, is about 60lbs, and is as playful and affectionate as she is intelligent and mischievous. She requires leashed supervision outside at all times, as she is an escape artist and a runner and can clear fences. A secured, high-fenced yard for Zaya must have dig-prevention reinforcement around the perimeter, such as Dig Defence or sunken cinder blocks. Zaya adores people and other dogs, but cannot be placed in a home with cats or small animals (no exceptions). Zaya has made significant progress around house training since being with her foster family, but still has occasional accidents and will need continued active training regarding household etiquette. Are you an experienced malamutes or Northern Breed owner who can give this sweet girl the exercise, activities, and snuggles she needs to thrive? Contact us! Zaya's adoption fee is $350 and includes her spay, up-to-date basic vaccines, rabies vaccine, and microchip. Please complete an application at: https://forms.gle/bSkgpdm6ZX7yH5Ef9 Questions? Story
Hi! My name is Bailey and you will not believe my story! Most dogs that end up in my situation don't get so lucky. You see, at my former home, I lived on the front porch. I was free to roam wherever I wanted to and my owners would just leave food and water out on the front porch for me. It wasn't a great life for a 4 month old puppy. So anyway, I was outside playing with the neighbor kid and I accidentally scratched him on the leg while we were playing. Not knowing what that would mean for me, the kid's dad called animal control. They took me away and put me in doggie jail. But, it wasn't just any doggie jail. I was put in quarantine doggie jail with only two ways out. The good way, or the bad way. The good way was for a rescue group to bail me out and take me in to find a new home for me where people understand that sometimes when puppies play with humans, we accidentally scratch them, because we get really excited. The bad way was that I was going to be euthanized and have my head cut off and sent to a lab for rabies testing. Yikes! Boy, am I glad I got out of there the good way! I am an adorable female, 4 month old, tan and white Husky/Labrador mix and I currently weigh 30 pounds. I am up to date on my vaccinations, spayed and microchipped. My foster mom says I am very sweet and fun and that I am a bundle of play and kisses. I love to play with other dogs and I LOVE living inside a house! I am working on house training and crate training and I am learning how to walk nice on a leash. If you think you would like to take me home as your FUREVER friend, please let the rescue know. I am wishing for a family that loves to play as much as I do and also for a family that will take care of me like I deserve! XOXO Bailey Bailey's adoption fee is $650 (that includes ground transport from Houston, TX to the Seattle, WA area). Transport is arranged to adopter once adoption is finalized. Since Bailey is part Husky and Huskies are known to be very vocal and active dogs, Bailey is not a suitable candidate for apartment living. **Bailey is currently in her foster home in Sheridan, Texas.
