Story
Apollo is a super sweet dog around the age of 5. We previously adopted him from the humane shelter and his past from before our ownership is unknown. He is great with kids (he has been around kids as young as 5). Apollo loves playing with toys, walks, going on drives, and running around in the back yard. Within the past month we have had the first issue with aggression in the two years we have owned him. He recently bit someone as they were walking through the front door. This is the only time he has shown aggression towards another thing.

Story
Flaco is a semi-shy bundle of fun! He is very sweet and athletic and will play with you at the beach or go for long walks in the mountains. Whatever you want...Flaco will be right there at your side. But he is a bit shy and takes a while to trust. Probably because he was surrendered to us suddenly and still isn't quite sure what is going on. He came to us to us because his long time person became too ill to care for him but loved him enough to make sure he found a good place to be rescued. He likes people and gets on well with other dogs if introduced slowly. A total low maintenance dog. But he does like to move. Being locked in a kennel or crate is really hard for him but when we let him out his joy is freed and he loves to explore and entertain himself. Born around October 2013, he tested positive for tick fever at this time but now healthy as can be. Other than that Flaco has no other medical issues and prior to leaving our Baja rescue he will be fully vaccinated, treated for tick fever and given another full medical assessment to insure he remains in optimum health. Flaco currently lives in Baja near Cabo San Lucas. Please review our Adopt-a-Pet page for further details about adoption fees and any possible transportation costs/issues. Or email with any further questions you may have about this lovable and delightful doggie.

Story
This is one beautiful girl! Her eyes will just pierce your soul. This is the sweet and somewhat timid Sandra who was abandoned by someone to fend for herself in the local dump of a Baja town. She just arrived and past a full medical assessment but we haven't gotten a chance to get to know her personality very well yet. But we are sure looking forward to getting to know her better because so far she is just the sweetest girl who takes a little while to warm up but once she does she is so much fun. and as far as we can tell she is extremely smart and very athletic. Please stay tuned for updates about her progress as she learns to trust and love again. We are determined to find the inner dog inside and set her free to be the dog she was always meant to be. Prior to Sandra getting adopted she will receive all of her shots and get sterilized by Cortez Rescue. Sandra has tick fever and is being treated and is well on her way to a full recovery. She has no other medical issues at this time and before leaving Cortez Rescue she will be given another full medical assessment to insure she remains in optimum health. Please review our Adopt-a-Pet page for further details about adoption fees and any possible transportation costs/issues. Or call with any further questions you may have about this lovable and delightful pup. Sandra currently lives in Baja near Cabo San Lucas.

Story
Covi is a sweet and handsome boy who was abandoned by his family to fend for himself in the dusty streets of Baja. Covi will impress you with his intelligence and playfulness. He walks fairly well on a leash but would benefit from additional leash training. Covi looks and plays like a typical black Lab. You don't get much more fun than that. We think he may have some Great Dane too which makes him a loyal and fun fellow who will play with you all day long and then collapse at your feet ready to give you nothing but loyalty and love. Born around 3/19/2015, he has no medical issues at this time and prior to leaving our Baja rescue he will be given another full medical assessment to insure he remains in optimum health. Please review our Adopt-a-Pet page for further details about adoption fees and any possible transportation costs/issues. Or call with any further questions you may have about this lovable and delightful pup. Covi currently lives in Baja near Cabo San Lucas.

Story
Meet Rouge, this handsome devil is a brand new addition to the CHS family. This guy comes in right around 1-2 years old and weighs in right around 63lbs. If energy and exuberance is what you are after, then we suggest you stop looking today. This guy is very quick on his feet, fast to make friends both human and dog. We don't feel he is going to do well with cats, as his impulse is to chase and that typically doesn't work out well. This guy is not going to be for the faint of heart, he is very smart and is picking up on commands quickly however, he is going to be a work in progress. With a little structure, a whole lot of positive reinforcemet, and love in his life, there is no telling the things that this guy is going to be able to accomplish. Due to the fact that he came into the shelter as a stray, we don't know what his history is with children, however with his current energy level and excitment for life we would be very reluctant to place him with kids that are younger than 12 years old. If you are interested in meeting Rouge we ask that you please email animalwelfare@columbiahumane.org. Please note that our adoptions are not done one first come first serve basis, each adoption is customized to the dog and the adopter. We do not allow walkins just to meet our dogs, all meet and greets need to be arranged prior to arrival at the kennel, this is due to our small staff and our tight time constraints. We appreciate your understanding. His adoption fee is going to be $250.00, that includes his neuter, current on vaccines, treated for fleas, treated for worms and microchipped. He will also come with a $100 enrichment package that will help him both at the shelter and as his new home. For more information call 503-397-4353 or email animalwelfare@columbiahumbia.org
