Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Name: Chase DOB: 3/26/2015 Weight: 15 lbs Adoption Fee: 375.00  Howdy there, my name is Chase! I wound up at a shelter in Houston, Texas not too long ago.  I am heartworm positive, but don’t let that deter you! I will be completely healthy again very soon. I'm the absolute sweetest guy you've ever met. Everyone will fall in love with my floppy ears, gentle kisses, and my eagerness & excitement to go on walks! I would really enjoy a home where I can be your shadow, have a furry buddy to play and cuddle with, and a place in the house where I can sit in a warm sun beam :) I live with a small and medium sized dog and love them both. I have been more than willing to do my business outside as well. I may need a refresher course though when I get to your house. I am crate trained, and do really well in them. I would also enjoy a room to myself with my crate open so I can go in and out. I'm just a mellow guy who's looking for a relaxing home to call my own! Since Chase is heartworm positive he will need to be treated in at our clinic in Princeton. Heartworm treatment consists of 3 injections. The first injection will be in roughly 30 days after coming into rescue. The the 2nd and 3rd injections happen 30 days after that. When a dog is going through heartworm treatment, they should be on "restrictions", meaning a lot of lap time, crate time and always on a leash. Heartworm disease is NOT contagious, it is transported via mosquitos.   Here is a great article explaining what heartworm is and how it's treated: https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basics An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal.  All Ruff Start dogs and cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, dewormed, and on monthly flea/tick and heartworm prevention (dogs) as well as heartworm tested (dogs). Ruff Start Rescue is a foster based rescue. Animals are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a facility where animals are kept. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello!  I'm a bright, bowlegged, and beautiful terrier mix named Emma.  I'm about 8 years old, and with that age comes wisdom - I have never made a mess in the house, and you can trust me not to chew on any furniture.  That kind of puppy behavior is not regal enough for me! I'm very responsible, and my foster mom trusts me to have the run of the house when she's gone. My favorite thing to do is snuggle, and when it's sleep time I'll get right up in your bed and crawl under the covers.  I'm an easy going gal that loves long walks and I'll play if you want to! I also love taking car rides, and will even sing to keep you company on the road.  I am interested in other dogs, so my foster mom thinks that with slow introductions I might do good with living with another one.  I've never been around cats.  When I go on long walks I am always very excited to see kiddos, so my forever family might have elementary school age or older kids. I was a stray before my foster mom took me in and had some issues with my knee, but The Rescue Crew got me the surgery I needed and I'm recovered and ready to give my new forever family all the love and snuggles they can handle!  Have you seen them? Please tell them about me, I'm waiting for them! For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org.  You can also access the necessary online adoption application here as well. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Name: Chaz DOB: 1/4/2017 Weight: 10 lbs Adoption Fee:375.00  Hey everyone! My name is Chaz, but my foster calls me Gizmo.  In December I was picked up while roaming the streets of Houston, TX. Who knows how long I was out there! Because I was a stray, I was exposed to a lot, so I am heartworm positive, but don’t let that deter you! I will be completely healthy again very soon. No one came to claim me at the shelter, so I was released to a foster. I was so relieved to get out so that I could come to MN! I live with other dogs right now and do great with them! I haven't met kids or cats yet though, so I'm not sure how well I'd do in a house with them. Although I love over dogs, since I was a stray, I'm pretty protective of my food/treats. But, as long as you feed me separate from the rest of the pups in your house, I will be just fine! I tried the whole "crate" thing.. didn't love it if I'm honest. But, now I sleep in a sectioned off part of the hallway and that seems to work for me much better. I love to cuddle and be pet.. I'm VERY friendly with new people I meet. I'm still working on my potty training a bit! With a schedule, I should catch on quick now that I'm finally in a home! I'm just a lovable little guy looking for my fur-ever family.  Since Chaz is heartworm positive.  He will need to be treated in at our clinic in Princeton. Heartworm treatment consists of 3 injections. The first injection will be in roughly 30 days after coming into rescue. The the 2nd and 3rd injections happen 30 days after that. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Name: Maximillan DOB: 2/8/2014 Weight: 9 lbs Adoption Fee: 375.00 Greetings Hoomans! I’m Maximillian, Max for short, and I recently relocated to beautiful Minnesota via Texas. I am very excited to be here and thankful for all the Minnesota Nice! Why am I here you ask? Well, sadly I lost my family and home in Texas and some nice hoomans in Texas thought I needed a new start in life and gave me a one-way ticket to beautiful and cold Minnesota. And might I say you folks take your cold weather seriously. I’m hoping the sun will shine soon! Regardless, I am very happy to be here. In fact, my MN foster Mom calls me Mr. Happy because I’m always running around with a smile on me fuzzy face and dancing my little Irish jig! I’m guessing you want to know more about me if you are checking out my page, I’m happy to share. Well, I was born and raised in Texas, I’m a very handsome older petite 6-pound gentleman, a little over 6 years old, looking for a new start on life with a loving hooman family. I’m so small I could fit right inside your lovely purse. I’m a very happy guy and enjoy hanging with the larger lady dogs, but not so much with guy dogs. I love cuddling, scratches especially on my back and ears, long naps in my dog bed with a soft throw blanket, squeaky toys, treats, baths, stuffed kongs and being the only dog in the home. As I mentioned above, I’ve had some difficult times lately which is requiring me to repeat potty training. I’m learning to tell my hooman when I need to go potty. I’m pretty good when my foster mom is home and she keep an eye on me, we are working hard on getting on a regular potty schedule. But when she leaves for work, I spend my day napping in my bed inside an x-pen and I use a puddle pad. It’s a work in progress and I’m confident I will be fully potty trained soon. Did I mention I’m an excellent snuggle buddy and I need my beauty sleep, so I sleep through the night; not a peep from me. And, I love to sleep in my crate, I go in as soon as my foster mom says, “crate Max!” You know how I mentioned that I lost everything back in Texas, well now that I’m here in Minnesota I’ve started to collect new toys and I just don’t want to loose them again so I’ve become a bit protective and yes I’m a toy hoarder. I’m allowed to play with them when my foster mom is home, but I cannot take them back to my x-pen or bed because I get a bit possessive. If I do, she distracts me with a kong and collects them from my hiding spot. Therefore, it would be best if I shared a home with hoomans 12 years and older that would be respectful of my personal space. Also, I should mention I get scared sometimes and will sing, my foster mom calls it howling, so apartment living is not an option for me. It’s my dream to be the only dog/fuzzy butt in a home with a wonderful loving hooman or family of older hoomans! So, if you’re looking for a small bundle of love with a fuzzy butt, waging tail and low activity level, I’m your man! Feel free to complete an adoption application and my foster mom can answer any questions you might have about me. Hope to hear from you soon.
