Judge's owner can no longer care for him due to their health issues. He’s 8 years old, comfortable with kids, and used to living with another dog. He lives in Blacksburg, Virginia. Very sweet, loves attention, loves hikes, and being outside. He has lived with a toddler, another large male dog, and chickens! Up to date on all vaccines. Goofy is exactly what his name implies. He is a goof ball with personality plus. He loves to play and race around to get your attention. He's an American Coonhound with a red tick coat. He's only a year old and has not have a very good life before coming into our care. He and his sister, Gabby, were outside dogs who were ignored and never shown any love. He wants so much to get your attention and show him you will be good to him. He came in very skinny but now weighs approx. 40 pounds. He still needs to put on a few more pounds. He and his sister eat as if they will never be fed again. But...even though he wants the food desperately they show no aggression whatsoever. Come and meet Goofy and give him the home he dreams of. To see Goofy by APPOINTMENT ONLY, submit an online dog adoption application at http://hsfc.org/adoptions/applications/online/. An adoption counselor will contact you--typically within three business days--to discuss with you the type of dog you are looking for and to see whether we have a good match for you. Our counselor will discuss the next steps afterward.Our dogs and horses are NOT at the HSFC shelter at 4057 Chain Bridge Road, Fairfax, VA--only our cats, birds, rabbits, and small mammals can be visited there. Our dogs and horses are housed at our private farm in Centreville.

Maya is a 6 year old (though she has the energy of a puppy) red tick coonhound, who we rescued from the humane society 2 years ago. Though Maya had a complicated history prior to our paths crossing, she has grown tremendously during our time together. While once being afraid of most people and certainly all males, Maya now will eagerly greet newcomers and actually gains energy from social situations. Maya has also shown to be very compassionate and patient with our 4 year old. However, Maya continues to suffer from severe separation anxiety, and has a difficult time being left home alone. She also has endless amounts of energy (and strength) and in an ideal world would chase deer into the night. Unfortunately our home is not conducive to the amount of running she needs. We are in no rush to give her away as she brings many sweet moments along with her goofy personality, but we do want to find her the right home. This is a dog who needs attention, activity and much patience in order to
