The Adoption Process If you are ready to meet the pet, please fill out an online adoption application by copying and pasting the following link into your internet browser: https://www.petstablished.com/adoption_form/10666/generic Once your application is submitted, we will contact the vet reference provided. If you do not yet have a vet, please provide three personal references – these could be family and friends who can attest to your pet parenting skills. A volunteer will schedule a phone interview with you. The interview and application help our fosters find their forever home by ensuring a good match. The Louisa Humane Society does not have a brick and mortar facility, so all of our pets are in foster care. Once approved, the foster parent will reach out to arrange a visit. The foster family can tell you all about their likes, dislikes, and little quirks. The application and visit do not oblige you to adopt, but if you’re ready to take the pet home as your furry forever friend, the adoption fee is $150. ##612528##

WALKER WAS ADOPTED FOUR MONTHS AGO AND WAS IN A LOVING HOME. HOWEVER HE WOULD NOT STAY IN THE 4 FOOT FENCE HIS FAMILY HAD AND FOR HIS SAFETY WAS RETURNED. Stop right there and put your paws up! I’m Walker Texas Ranger and I’m here to apprehend you for not adopting the most fantastic creature on this side of the San Antonio River—me, Walker! That’s right buddy, I’m available for adoption and I’m ready to take treats. I am a 2- year- old Treeing Walker Coonhound mix and I just barely escaped the doggie hoosegow out in a rural area of Virginia. Man, I showed ‘em my badge and everything and they were still planning to put me down on account of space. Anywho, I’m surviving and thriving in my foster home. Heck, my foster mom says I’m the only good dog she’s got (and she’s got A LOT of dogs)! I’m dog friendly, easy going, and just about the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet. Augusta Dog Adoptions is an all- volunteer, foster- based rescue. We take applications online and hold adoption events at Petsmart in Waynesboro, VA (821 Town Center Drive Waynesboro, VA 22980) every Saturday. A $175.00 adoption fee ($200 for puppies under 6 months old) helps us take care of all the dogs we rescue. All dogs are spayed/neutered, tested for heartworm and tick borne diseases (if old enough), microchipped, and vaccinated for rabies (if old enough), distemper/parvo and bordetella. They are also treated for internal and external parasites. Many dogs also receive extensive medical care such as dental work and major surgeries.
