Story
My name is Lemon.  At three months I was rescued from a neglectful owner, I was dying of parvo.  I was sent directly to the emergency vet and spent several days hospitalized.  I am now a year old but my early experiences have left me very cautious and suspicious of new people.  I am working on my trust issues but I learn quickly especially when treats are involved.  Once I KNOW you, I LOVE you-but I need time, patience and an experienced owner who can keep helping my development. Love Lemon. Lemon is such a sweet loving girl, but first she needs to trust you.  So slow intros with this cutie are a must.  We are working on building Lemon's confidence, she recently went to Home Depot to practice some of her new commands.  Helping her overcome some of her fears and having fun too.  She just needs a little patience and time and she will be such an amazing companion. Lemon was found sick, emaciated, dehydrated and pitiful.  Living in deplorable conditions with several other dogs.  One of outreach volunteers was able to get her into our care. She was only 3 months old and had parvo; she spent a week in the ER getting fluids and medicine to help combat the effects of parvo.  We are going to help this girl get the life she deserves.   Lemon is doing amazing now, she gets to be a healthy, happy puppy now.  You would never know she was ever sick.  Beautiful, playful and ready for her happily ever after. All Dallas DogRRR adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption.  The standard minimum donation for puppies is $325 + 8.25% tax =  $351.81, for dogs over 12 months the adoption fee is $225 + 8.25% tax = $243.66 and for our senior dogs 8 years and up is $100 + 8.25% tax = $108.25; this increase includes sales tax recently required by the State of Texas to collect.  You can view all the adoptable pets and fill out an adoption application online on our website at http://dallasdogrrr.org.  For more information, you can email adopt@dallasdogrrr.org.   Upon receiving your application please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process. Good with dogs,
Story
Gemma is the smartest and most expressive dog I've fostered.  She is sweet but a little anxious when meeting new people. Highly trainable and bonds hard with her human. She is a beautiful girl who loves all the dogs. She is, however, nervous of new people and needs some time and patience to build trust. If she’s given her space to approach and interact with you at her own pace she does well. Once you’ve earned her trust, you have the sweetest of sweets. Super submissive and wants to be with you all the time. She would do best in a home that can allow her more freedom initially to interact at her own pace without forcing/rushing it. Other dogs can help her to feel more comfortable as well. Because of her nervousness she would do best in a home with no small children. She has done very well with introductions to other dogs and people. Gemma knows basic cues (come, sit, down, stay, look) and does really well on leash.  She is blossoming into such a beautiful, loving, sweet girl.  She is going to make someone very happy with all the love she has to share. Poor Gemma came from a hoarding situation where she and her week old puppies were not getting the care and nutrition they needed.  She was too thin and weak to be able to nurse her babies.  Only 23 pounds. They are all safe in a foster home and beginning to look much healthier.  Gemma is a sweet little momma to her 5 puppies. Poor little young momma was labeled 911 by the shelter, as she continued to postpartum bleed.  She was in the shelter with her 4 pups, they were doing well but mom was not she needed immediate care that included blood transfusion.  She was rescued and rushed to the ER just in time.  Her babies are being bottle feed and slowly moving to gruel. Schatzi is a German term of endearment literally meaning treasure.  When speaking of someone it shows how much you care, how much you value them, and just how much they mean to you.  Schatzi means another life saved to us. NOTES FROM THE FOSTER FAMILY: ESTIMATED DOB: 7-14-2017 Click the 'Ask About' button or click 'Tails from the Heart' link to see all of our available dogs. Our application is currently not online, they are sent via email once your inquiry is submitted. Upcoming Tails from the Heart Meet and Greet events. With everything going on currently with COVID-19, we have canceled our public meet and greets until further notice. If you are interested in meeting any of our pets, please email us and we can get you an application. We can then review and send to the foster family. We may cancel our home visits as well but if you could attach photos of your yard and one or two of your home that would be great. In lieu of the visit this would allow us to meet you and allow you to meet the pet and conduct a possible adoption either outside your home or at a public place where safe distancing can occur.

Story
Sport is mostly a Red Heeler who is very handsome and loving and outgoing with his foster parents. He is timid with new people and needs to be able to make up with someone on his time. Sport was not socialized with other animals or people when he came to us and it took his foster parents about a month, but then they were getting kisses and doggie hugs. He has a good heart and wants to be a great dog, but he's still insecure and will need someone willing to help him gain and keep his confidence. Sport is crate and house trained, lives with lots of other dogs and has learned how to get along with most of them and made some good doggie friends. We don't feel Sport would be good with children because he is insecure and needs his space to make friends, but we have not seen him with children. Sport's estimated DOB is August, 2010. He is fully vetted: microchipped, current on vaccines, neutered and on flea/tick and heart worm prevention. If you are interested in meeting or adopting Sport, please fill out our online application at Hillcrestanimalrescue.org.

Story
Kaylee is about 6.5 years old, she was a feral rescue. We’ve had her since she was about 9 or 10 months old. She was found living on the streets with their brothers and has always been skittish but is very loving and has never been aggressive. Originally we had another dog, but my adult daughter moved out and took the other dog with her. We thought Kaylee would be OK but she really needs to be with other dogs. She is anxious and fearful without other dogs. Because of health issues, we are unable to take on more dogs and aren’t able to even give Kaylee the exercise she needs which doesn’t help. We love her but know she’d be better and happier in a home with other dogs and people who can give her more exercise. She’s healthy (a little overweight but not much), fully vetted and up to date on shots, heart worm negative and on preventative.

Story
Poppy a beautiful 2 year old border collie mix.  She is so sweet and has made huge strides in trusting people and learning hands coming toward her are for pets and love.  She is loving toys and getting used to her routine.  She loves other dogs and hanging out on the couch with all her toys. Crate trained.  Loves other dogs...all of them.  Not scared to be left alone.  It will take some time for her to warm up but once she does she is a love bug wanting lots of hugs, rubs and kisses.  She is about 30 pounds. This poor baby girl.  Humans were not kind to her before Dogrrr. She cringed even if she thought you might try to touch her. When you would touch her she froze.  With patience and love this girl has learned to trust humans. Story
Please say hello to Texas Winter, aka Winnie. Winnie is an outgoing and assertive girl and she is very affectionate. She is spayed, current on immunizations and on preventatives. Winnie is great at meeting new people as long as it is in a calm and polite manner. When frustrated or overly excited, she will get mouthy to other dogs or people, but is quickly & easily corrected when given clear verbal cue. She does well with men, women and children over 12. She is selective about dogs and is not good with small animals due to a high prey drive which is in her DNA. Winnie is an energetic and active girl and needs an active household. She would do great in herding, agility or other activities. Like most Aussies, she requires mental stimulation and physical activity every day. Winnie has a strong toy drive and is protective of her food. She is crate trained and house broken. She knows her basic commands such as sit, stay, down and recall. She is currently being fostered with a trainer who is working on her impulse/ behavior. If you think Winnie is the girl for you, please fill out our application: https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application
